Downvoting because you persist in claiming chmod compiles. chmod - change file mode bits. It gives the computer permission to run it as a program. Has absolutely nothing to do with compiling. If you got something this simple wrong, I don't trust the rest of your explanations.

@bkoch53 to check to see if wlan0 is your interface, type in the following: airmon-ng once you've typed that in, it will populate a list of the wireless cards that you have. the usb wireless card will show up second in the list usually. it's most likely the same if you have the same card as this guy is using.

If I remember correctly, you can read data you've previously collected and write that plus the newly captured data to a new file.

For example, you start collecting data on a wifi signal called linksys on channel 6 and capture 10,000 data. You set -w to linksys so the data is dumped to linksys-01.cap. The next day you want to continue so you would use this command:

airodump-ng -c 6 -r linksys-01.cap -w linksystwo --bssid MA:CA:DD:RE:SS wlan0

the -r switch will read the orginal data.

You dont need to use a dictionary attack for WEP; only for WPA.

Sometimes it takes a while, especially if there is little to no traffic on the network you are trying to crack.

Is there a way to specify a target when running aircrack-ng? I use the command you show at 5:10 and it automatically targets my neighbor's wpa encrypted router (I think because I get a stronger signal from it).

Also, how much data do you need accumulated to successfully run aircrack-ng? Think I heard 70k, but I'm not sure if that's accurate.

i have cracked a network with as little as 7k but also as much at 500k. all depends on how strong of an encryption it is.

It is alot easier to create the script "startup" or "setup" shown in this video, first add "#/usr/bin" at the start then run the chmod command.  Which doesn't compile anythig it simply sets the "executable bit" to all users.

that happens if you close airodump...you have to leave it open and make sure its locked on a channel.
