I beat these guys differently. I change my party to Vanille/Lightning/Fang as SAB/SAB/SYN, Summon, cast Death (while Vanille has Sprint Shoes), wait for Haste to wear off, dismiss Eidolin, have Haste cast on Vanille, switch to SAB/SAB/SAB, then hope for the best. Other than the Sprint Shoes, I don't bother with accessories because they're a hassle to get right again and I'm mostly lazy. :/

@wildperson I am pretty sure you are talking about adamantoises. They looks like Long Gui but they are far weaker. Long gui has more powerful attacks, three times hp and immune to the sudden death effect of Death spell.

@NANOFORGE this is the trick. Summon time does not count in the down time for long gui. This guy summoned and poisoned long gui. Then he entered gestalt mode only use hecatoncheir's 1 charge skill. This could let poison take in effect for a extremely long time and do a lot damage(more than half of long gui's hp).

@FifaScythi Did you reset the area? You have to leave/reenter, teleport away and back in, or save and reload the game in order for them to become Guis. There's also no special cutscene or animation, they just appear the next time you enter in place of the 'toises.

Van/Fang/Snow(replace with lightning if he doesn't have med)

Equip purely defense items and everyone with a T1Lv1 weapon. Use poison 5 times, switch to 2 if it doesn't stick and try again. Once it sticks go to 3 until he goes into trance. Switch to 4, heal/buff up, then switch to 1 before he comes out a trance to rinse and repeat for a 5star ~10min

@FifaScythi With maxed out characters and tier1 weapons, my target time was literally 20 minutes. The poison will work it's magic in 9-12 for a five-star. Vanille you just want as the leader so you can spam poison with a malboro wand. Fang can debuff him, and snow can slow him. (Although, I still prefer to forget the slow and stick with lightning since she's awesome.) Sometimes he'll use wicked whirl before you get poison on him, just switch to the tri-sentinel and then back to number 2.

I think im going to try to poison and turtle the hits untill he gets down to half HP then use the summon/poison thing and drain all his HP. He doesnt go into the defensive mode when you summon. Thing I mainly need is Gil.. Its so hard to get in this game -_- (PS: Just beat Long Gui again. No drop. Thats 5 fights without a drop now. First fight I got a Trap.. Typical)

@FifaScythi Yeah, that wicked whirl ignores all resistance meaning belts, protect(ra), shell(ra), armlets, all that doesn't work in lowering the damage. The only thing that will lower the damage is being in the sentinel role. AND it does enough damage to kill just about every character (except maybe Snow) when they're not a sentinel. You're gunna need to spend the like 24k points on getting sentinel for Van. I know the gil situation, I'm trying to get the treasure hunter right now for platinum.

Did you just get EXTREMELY lucky on it for not getting back up or is there a trick to keeping it on the ground. Since normally my Long Guis get back up after ~ 5 rounds or so, which means, if Death didn't instant-kill till then it's a restart fight.

@darkhawk155 When as a commando you cause more damagae to a staggered enemy, so what you wanna do right when you cast death, you switch to commando real fast and it does a shitload more damage. But you have to do the switch right before the actually hit though.

After the summon vanish, you keep casting poison and imperil for the whole time while waiting for your allies to cast the buffs.

Since status don't stack, this is useless (with 10x poison the game could have been to much easy!! xD).

So, in the meantime, why didn't you cast de-shell and de-protect ? You could have ended the battle in even less time!

Anyway, good job! I think he will run away the next time he sees you!!

casting poison on an enemy,and inflicting it, while they are already poisoned resets the time in which the status effect ends, so constantly casting it even though the Long Gui is already inflicted with poison keeps it poisoned throughout the battle. Meaning the enemies health is constantly being drained throughout the fight

Yes, that's right. But poison has a long duration, and in the meantime you could cast deshell and deprotect to increase the damage done by the party (not much compared to the damage done by poison, of course, but still usefull). Anyway very good fight!!
