  • its like a bird of paradise.

  • There is a Chinese movie called "The King of Masks" using this exact same style of magic.

  • I wonder if he's faster than Jeff McBride.

  • The best part is that his hands don't seem to go anywhere near his face...How the HELL is he doing it??? (Not that I actually want to know, but how the HELL?!)

  • Scary

  • how the fuk

  • Towards the end of the act, he takes off the last mask, and just his face is there. Jerk that I am, I immediately thought 'ok, now try and take that one off!'. Three seconds later, there is a new mask, and I felt like a real horses ass. ROFL!

  • what is this sorcery?

  • Watch film king of masks and slow it down. You can see that the mask is on elastic ore something like that and it jumps from his face (huh finaly).

  • Sry i think he have elastic masks. Masks snaped behind crown. He make fast moves so i cant see what is right.

  • I think i know how. He has a crown, and behind the crawn he has masks. He make move and his mask fal down at the end he turn him self and poot all masks on head. I dont like people who tel secrets but nobody cant do that trick so good (and I am mby dont right) but I sometimes see how trick is done and I coment couse I like thinking and i sometimes figuret it out. Sry for my bad English. :)

  • My mouth. It is open so far as to touch the floor, and I can't bring it back up.

  • 0: 44 - see the thread

  • Aliens.

  • Ancient Chinese secret? He obviously uses Calgon.

  • We find beauty in things because we are willing to be enchanted by the illusion. This is how we turn reels of still frames into a movies, dark rooms filled with robots into E-ticket rides, and a cacophony of noise into music.

Penn and Teller probably know how it's done, but they just don't want to spoil it. Besides, who care's how it's done? It's more fun not to bother and enjoy the show.

  • WIN

  • You should see "King of Masks" 1997

    fantastic movie

  • IT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST AMA-

  • the masks are in his hat

  • Look, I wasn't supposed to tell you this, but all Chinamen have about 6-8 faces. Like that smiling face that asks when you want one from column A and one from column B? That face fucking hates your guts.

  • i'm pretty sure an LCD mask will change faster than this guy switching shit with his hands

  • I want to see him start with his face and put masks on.

  • @RyanNew1Two See @ 1:09

  • @RyanNew1Two didn't watch it all the way to the end did you?

  • I don't know how he uses the strings to change the masks, but there are at least two black strings, on on either side of his face under his chin, that you can see at certain angles.

  • I would like to know exactly how he does it. From his mouth, not guess work from people who think they know how he did it.

  • What a dude

  • awesome!

  • monkey king at 0:50

  • I have always wondered why they wear a cape!

  • Pause at 0:43 and you can see the string :)

  • Would I be to presumptuous in thinking the masks are India paper(extremely thin paper) which he pulls from his face?

  • its probably the most ama-

  • HOW THE FUCK DOES HE DO IT?!

  • On the Penn & Teler Magic Mystery Tour DVD, if you watch this guy in the Special Features, he performs again for Penn and Teller in a separate room. But he messes up once and you can see the mask change, the string he pulls with his hand. It's still a wonderful illusion though.

  • @tamajinn Cool! I would love to see that.

  • @moatasemalaa You can get it on Netflix!

  • @tamajinn i have that dvd, at about what time does he do it

  • @ozzyhendrix619 You have to go to the "special features" section of the disc... it's not part of the main feature. I returned the disc to Netflix so I can't reference it now.

  • REALITY HACK!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • jeff mcbride does it better...

  • Fact: they are not really masks. It is quick drying paint. For each change, he simply paints a new mask over the old one. Please don't tell anyone else how it's done. Let's make it our secret. Please don't tell those people who do that FaceBook thing, either. They are all total gossips!

  • Now do it without the crown on your head. Then we will see if he can still do it!

  • Praise from Penn and Teller is a rare thing.

  • I know how to do it, but I'm not going to spoil by telling everyone. If you want to know email me (no more past 1st feb 2011)

  • King of Masks (Bian Lian)

    An excellent film.

  • i think he is wearjing all the masks at the same time and the layers enrolled one by one under his crown

  • i know how its done! these damn chineses stop the time-and they go to the heart of india and to get the fiber of each mask. then they go to japan to have it painted. and finally go to vietnam to eat - and comeback to the show to only "unfreeze" the time. then once they are about to change again, they stop the time again! I got it all figured out. damn chineses!

  • @0TylerDurden0 the real secret: they have a little remote control underneath their cape connected to their waist. they just push a button and the mask changes.

  • @0TylerDurden0 dude, that Vietnam part of your comment made me laugh like crazy. I'm a fellow Vietnamese and just making us the put stop for food was funny as hell.

  • @0TylerDurden0 one of the worst jokes ive ever read on youtube. really?

  • @disfiguration I didnt write it to get or expect an 88 thumbs up. Nor did I write it to empress you or anybody.

  • only four people in the world can do this this well. i saw someone do it in cheng du.

  • Chuck Norris can do it in 00000000000000000000001 spectreseconds and he can change up to 435143906134691348513490583953 masks

  • I think he's having a remote mechanism inside his "helmet" who drops all those masks

  • I THINK THE PARROT SINGS REALLY COOL TEEEHEEEEEEE

  • really amazing!

  • 1:06/:107 Black strings under his chin.

Mask gets pulled down, other one appears from under his crown.

    Not that hard really.

Just really hard to perfect the system.

  • @chaimtwee when you see it you realise that if it was under the strap the crown would have to move because of the speed, and yet it doesnt....

  • @chaimtwee i was going to say that...now i don't have to...hes wearing a black turtleneck so you cant see the strings against the color of his neck.

  • Who cares how he does this.

    He just do it.

tou shouid see the italian artist arturo bracchetti

  • ..still very impressive, friendly looking guy :)

  • Look at his crown guys...I bet they are on his head already, put in certain layers, strings on each of them, tied town his back under his cape into his hands..

    Peace

  • @MonochromeMentality I thought the same!

  • @MonochromeMentality okay man now you recreate it ;)

  • @MageAtYou Wow, until now I didn`t even see I got so many thumps up..So, well. Thanks for the reply and the challenge :D Yeah I can try to do the same..But then I`d have to perform at a comedy event I think...;P because there`s not going to be anything beautiful, skilled and fast about it hehe.

    Peace

  • @MonochromeMentality actually i think they are on spring action (thin layers) and they jump (or roll/fold) into his hat, probably the mechanism is a series of elastics or something tongue activated....

  • @MonochromeMentality How do you explain the last one?

  • @heysutminroev I had no idea that my comment was going to be second best rated and that I`d have to explain it :p But now that I watched it again, I cant see any strings on his neck..But I still think that the different masks are somehow on his head already and that they are pretty lightweight overall but maybe heavy at the bottom. like that he can slide them up or down by either a up or downward motion of his head. That would explain why his crown has to be that well fixed to his chin.

  • @MonochromeMentality makes sense but it seems like youd be able to see the tongue on the second mask.

  • @MonochromeMentality I agree. Around 0:19 you can see strings under his chin.

  • hacks

  • holy crap

  • and the answer is .....

  • i thought I knew that voice

  • Pretty cool

  • They're all inside the hat, duuuhh.

  • @UerMom lol, my thought exactly

  • @UerMom Wait a second, are you saying it's a trick?!? no way!!!

  • @stperkin Never said that, it's obviously some weird Chinese magic.

  • @UerMom :-)

  • BAM! Faster than light!

  • that's amazing

  • Awesome!!!!!
