@theknexrock In a popularity contest, maybe, but that's about it. Been a fan of Megadeth since before I can remember, but as talented as every one of those guys are, these guys exceed them. Russell Allen is light years ahead of Mustaine in vocal ability, and Michael Romeo blows away every guitarist Megadeth has ever had with the exception of Chris Broderick, and even then I wouldn't say Broderick is necessarily better (and vice versa). All that matters is that both bands kick major ass :D

Avenged Sevenfold is incomparable to Symphony X. Michael Romeo blows away Synyster and Zack. Russell has a way better range of vocals that M. Shadows, and Jason demolishes Mike (Since the Rev passed away). But hey, this is just one guys opinion.

You can't make that kind of judgement since SX plays power/prog metal and A7X doesn't. They're in two different genres and are both very talented bands. That being said, the members of SX have a good 10-15 years on A7X and it definitely shows. But all in all, both bands are great!
@killerkord Yes, you cant compare hardcore progmetal (SX) to softcore Metalcore (A7x) Both bands are great, but Symphony X er a little more technical, although Synyster also have mad skills. I still like A7x best, since I find so many of their song works of a genious. Matt Shadows, the greatest songwriter in this millenium!

It's not all about the technical skills, Syn is more than good enough. Getting better, and you often see the Dragonforce-syndrome.. And that's not cool! In my opinion the by far greatest value of a band lies in songwriting, and a big part in the vocals. What does it matter is you play like the God of Rock, but only write shitty guitar-solo songs? (Yngwie..!) Synphony sure have many awesome riffs, and strong vocals for a prog-band, but lack some of the more complex songwriting.
@RtosVadumee This band isn't really for people who care for lyrics. I listen to Avenged 'cause I can relate to some of their lyrics. Symphony X is for people who love awesome riffs and solos. Also,I'm a guitar player and their songs are EXTREMELY fun to play,which is another reason why one would listen to Symphony X.
But if you're not that big on lyrics and epicness, and just want badass riffage and shredding, then Symphony X most defiantly is among the top choices of metal!

@InsanEMetal654 Then dont compare them! They dont even play the same brand of metal. I love both bands actually, especially Rullo on drums...but being a drummer for 22 yearsand a Dream Theater fan for almost 20 years, Rullo doesnt come close to Pornoy on the drums!

You can't make that kind of judgement since SX plays power/prog metal and A7X doesn't. They're in two different genres and are both very talented bands. That being said, the members of SX have a good 10-15 years on A7X and it definitely shows. But all in all, both bands are great!

@killerkord Yes, you cant compare hardcore progmetal (SX) to softcore Metalcore (A7x) Both bands are great, but Symphony X er a little more technical, although Synyster also have mad skills. I still like A7x best, since I find so many of their song works of a genious. Matt Shadows, the greatest songwriter in this millenium!

It's not all about the technical skills, Syn is more than good enough. Getting better, and you often see the Dragonforce-syndrome.. And that's not cool! In my opinion the by far greatest value of a band lies in songwriting, and a big part in the vocals. What does it matter is you play like the God of Rock, but only write shitty guitar-solo songs? (Yngwie..!) Synphony sure have many awesome riffs, and strong vocals for a prog-band, but lack some of the more complex songwriting.

@RtosVadumee This band isn't really for people who care for lyrics. I listen to Avenged 'cause I can relate to some of their lyrics. Symphony X is for people who love awesome riffs and solos. Also,I'm a guitar player and their songs are EXTREMELY fun to play,which is another reason why one would listen to Symphony X.
