Here's what worked for me after everything else failed. I didn't attempt repair/update install though. This is much simpler.
Stop the sidebar.exe process. Use regedit and delete this key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\].
Restart sidebar process.
Have no idea why it works but it does. Found it on another forum. I applied this fix several days ago and system has been running fine.
at least your gadget window open my doesn't do so, and my desktop is black all the time but my icons are the I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@iTechNetwork you are a lucky one. you think i would be happy seeing that after what i had experienced on my old HP Pavilion dv9702 (remember it and its faultyness?). my old HP is now in the garage and i stopped using it because it annoyed me and i had lost my essay for school :S HP's motherboards are never worth, the damn gpu is intergrated which was causing blue screens. HP is nothing no more.
