Let's face it Girl or Boy, for her age she plays the crap out of that Bass, great solos

but even more important she can groove like MUTHA !!

This does not surprise me, most of the best bass players I've heard & worked with have been women, their phrasing is so completely different but still so complimentary to the rhythm section yet it seems to float above it, pure magic when it works.

I really think that Tal is leading a revival (of sorts) in bass playing. For about the past 20 years Victor Wooten and Marcus Miller were about it, not of course counting those in rock bands like Flea and Les Claypool, but Wooten and Miller definitavely had "it." I also believe that Felix Pastorius will very shortly break out of his shell, for he is an exceptionally talented musician, if not moreso than his father.

This is one impressive kid, sky's the limit here. I personally think the tune is a little manic and not very well mixed, but I have heard plenty of her music that really pleased me. She plays with Jeffery Keezer, she's going to learn a ton from him.

Tal is good but is not the same class as Pattitucci or Gary Willis...they are masters!! Tal might get there with a lot of work in a few years and i hope she does.

My personal preference has Willis on top because his phrasing is so exceptional and "fluent"...genius

why do you say she has good tone for a boutique bass? its not really a boutique bass and its nice tone nonetheless. but i dont see the jaco influence everybody is talking about. its like hes just the standard and when you find a good player they get called the next jaco. jaco was a great innovator but at this point there is better. some people still think cliff burton was the best. im not convinced. musicians just get better with time and the next best thing is just around the corner. look out.

i believe she plays Sadowsky basses. im still a fender man, recently moved to rickenbacker. she's got some of the best tone for a boutique bass. most modern jazz players are too muffled.
