  • Frank on Tenor Sax

  • @XMIR10C Mate, it's Graham Bond

  • Zappa was backstage taking a Krappa

  • @Bluesofan LOL, every couple months, another "That's Zappa" asshole pops up. No, Zappa had his long hair and moustache in 1968....

  • Impressive sax players. Very talented! The whole band is impressive, in fact.

  • @XMIR10C Setting the record straight here. Not Frank Zappa LOL . The guy's name is Graham Bond,Ginger used to play in his band "Graham Bond Organization" this was before Cream. Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce left them in 1966 and Ginger formed Cream.

Graham Bond played with Ginger Bakers air force until his untimely and tragic death in 1974.

  • @Bluesofan Prove me wrong fool. Its a fact

  • The rhythms flow out of Ginger. He doesn't just play them skins, he makes them skins sing.

  • hheeeey there's the creamy drummer!

  • PLAY THE DASHBOARD-TABLE-WHATEVER TO THIS KIDS!

  • PLAY THE TABLE-DASHBOARD YERDIK O' WHATEVER 2 THIS KIDS...GOODLUCK!

  • omg frank zappa on sax

  • @biophysman Why the fuck do people keep saying that? Are you people blind?

  • music at the best!!!!!!

  • did you see Ging smiling at the other drummer?....they were having a gas! Instrumental tone is intellectual, drumming is soul spirit but they are the same musical thing just at the extremes of starting out...its when they reach their opposite ends and become one, but they cannot out do each other so have to give way. Drumming is better for the soul than strumming however...the players just need to communicate and have a gas which is where we all join in and have a gas. Drugs are not required.

  • Ginger is about the only drummer I don't get bored listening to during extended solos.

  • it's nice to see Ginger finally getting some of the respect he deserves

    ....thanks for posting this

  • There's very little doubt that Peter "Ginger" Baker is one of the finest drummers in recent history.

  • What's better in this video, the drums or her rack?

  • @afds258 I'd like to drum her rack.

  • This must be where Phil Collins got his idea from - 2 drummers

  • Love Frank Zappa on Tenor Sax.

  • @XMIR10C Zappa on Tenor Sax???

  • Can anyone give me the lyrics for this song? If Anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

  • Is that Macy Gray on vocals? ;-D

  • FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ginger says in his book that he had a three-way with those two backup singers. Graham Bond is probably jonesing hard for a fix.

  • Is this before Jeannete Jacobs and Eleanor Barooshian joined up with this band?

  • @Khultan Jeanette i Eleanor were early. Jeannette RIP :(

  • @Bluesofan Damn--I wanted to see them in a video. At least they still were together after The Cake disbanded, though I really wish Barbara remained too, they were THE group. Rest in peace, Jeannete Jacobs..... and thanks Bluesofan.

  • great batteur!! i love this man!! i m french too!! arnaud

  • I never ceases to be amazed at how Ginger Baker comes on like a powerful locomotive, how well he drives a band, how lyric his playing is, how he interacts with melodic instruments on an equal basis, how his improvised counter-rhythms hold jams like Spoonful on Wheels of Fire together like glue. I can imagine some of these rolls and licks, but can scarcely believe my eyes and ears as he actually executes them. Clean, original, authoritative. He never fails to raise my dopamine levels. Love!

  • absolute master of his craft,,the 2 girls are as sexy as it gets too!!.

  • Ginger is my drum hero. And you know what's great? The entire solo- not one cymbal crash. Very cool. In an unrelated note, I'd like to add that there is some great cleavage in this video.

  • @mickyp1960 Man, well put! That's what Tony Allen (Fela's drummer) said too.

  • @elpatoymio - that's cool. About the same time I was too!

  • Diane Steward = HOT!!

  • Diane Steward = HOT!

  • @hlmspl 40 years ago.

  • Fantastic

  • I'm listening to this on headphones and I can STILL feel it through the soles of my feet -- extraordinary.

  • I'm so very glad there was music when I was young!

  • Diane Stewart was so beautiful. i've looked for years for current photos of her, and have found none. It always interested me what she looks like now.

  • This is soooo good! Thanks for posting.

Is Ginger Baker truly the world's greatest drummer? This performance says hell yeah!

  • GINGER BAKER IS AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Is the tune Don"t Care by Baker & Airforce avalible on video i've heard the original { album version which was live } on an underground radio station online.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Not seen the full version before. Great views of Baker playing african rhythms. Really jazzy too.

  • Phenomenal!

  • Underated band. Love their 2nd album.

  • What the hell is with the bar on the bottom of the screen?

  • More importantly, who is the man on baritone sax?

  • It is the sign of a german television station.

  • Gotta love Ginger Baker - what an incredible drummer.

  • I cannot believe that people still think Frank Zappa is on sax. FRANK NEVER PLAYED WITH THIS DAMN BAND!

Besides, if Frank cut his hair and shaved his face in 1968, wouldn't you have seen him elsewhere like that?

  • Notice the goatee?

  • With nothing less than an American weasel from Idaho.

  • Anyone know the Weasels guy on the tenor sax? I think thats the same guy that ripped my flesh,

  • Bud Beadle

  • very sexual.didn't dig airforce at the time, but this is beyond cool.

  • Anyone know about a time when guitarist Billy Jenkins played with the Air Force? Any postings?

  • Billy Jenkins played in Ginger Baker's Nutters in 1981-82

  • Young Frankie

    '

  • sHykADeLiC!

  • Wow, man! I had forgotten about this great song. I still have the original vinyl. And yes I'm old; but there is only one alternative to getting old. Thanks for posting. Sempre Fi!

  • Megga thanks bluesofan for posting this and the other Airforce stuff . . . . too phenomenal for words . . I was privileged to go to the 'farewell concert' at the Belfry on 20th Feb 1971 . . . the loudest and most amazing music I ever heard ,I could actually feel the sound through my whole body and when Gingers solo was in full flight and the Saxes hit and held a big chord I was certain that my chest and torso would explode - I get shivers down my spine thinking about it

  • With or without Frank. No matter now

  • I'll explain the 11-13-17 tacatta my computer found. No other drummer capable at the time - and probably not now

  • weird how he gets the loudest, most forceful tones out of the set but it seems like he's not really hitting that hard.

  • happy birthday ginger

  • 70 Birthday...

  • Read the story about him in the current Rolling Stone - it will blow your mind.

    Baker's drumming is pure Genius.

  • Ginger is my favorite drummer ever

  • Until you run it through your computer, I rest my case. What you dont seem to understand is that Ginger was performing the prime number theorum under the covers man. Thats my whole point. PALMER has to make a decided effort on learning it. Baker had it subconsciously, innately.

  • @biophysman You can't compare Baker to Palmer, because Palmer plays classical adaptations and Ginger plays black music.

  • @TheFigueroa007 Ginger plays all genres of music, is best solo, is on the end of the studio version of DO WHAT YOU LIKE, by BLIND FAITH, his four limb independence is incredible, he was tutored by Phil Seaman, Europes greatest ever drummer, Ginger's biggest love is jazz, and African music.

  • Ginger aint thinking Prime numbers,he`s banging the fuck out of his pots, and admiring the two girl`s asses!

  • So you think

  • @BartConrad101 I bet you he also banged the fuck out of the two chicks later on as well.

  • biophysman, are you talking to yourself again?.Remember what the Doctor said..

  • If anyone cares, a 37 minute solo by Baker is forthcoming

  • Run Bakers solo through the computer. Correlate with the prime nmuber sequence (1,2,3,5,7,11,13,17..). He is the only drummer in history who can mantain the 17/ 13 / 5 harmonic. Tell me its a coincidence

  • GB is the drumming GOD

  • IRON BUTTERFLY-"butterfly bleu" (1 of 3)

  • OK little dickhead, Orange posted for now .

  • Listen to the underlying base for the prime numbers. Seems he had an extra leg nerve attached to his arm

  • Too fast for the camera

  • Anyway - thanks for posting again. Good invisibility shield bye the way. Took me a while to find this again.

  • Seems to be getting shorter. It was 11 minutes last year

  • Wow. Thats Frank Zappa in yunger years on sax

  • Diane Stewart (the one on the left) was married to Graham Bond - the big fat guy in the Kaftan. There isn't much footage of him on youtube, but he was definately a legend :-)

Ginger is definately one of the greatest - it isn't a technique thing with him. There's faster and flashier - but what an amazing rhythm machine!

  • I couldn't decide who was better Baker or Bonham, but after seeing this Baker is clearly the best drummer ever.

  • I would bet my ass those chicks still look good! WOW

  • i agree.

  • Ginger is a Wizard...the 2 singing chicks are Manna from an other dimension...

  • Beautiful!

  • I love how, the previous times that this was posted, people were CONVINCED the middle saxophonist was Frank Zappa. That's beyond me.

Zappa didn't even know how to play a bloody saxophone. :-P

Incidentally, what ARE they singing, anyway?

  • The song is called 'Toady', from Ginger Baker's second solo album.

  • How many times do we have to tell you, its Frank. Tahts why YouTube keeps pulling the vid and we have to post it under a new name.

  • Do you people know anything about Frank Zappa? Frank Zappa NEVER worked with this band, Frank DID NOT know a thing about playing sax, and Frank already had his long hair and moustache at this point, as this was during the Mothers period.

I don't care what the fuck I have to do to prove that IT'S NOT FRANK FUCKING ZAPPA!

  • What? Frank Zappa knew nothing about playing SAX?? Do I need to post Dwarf Nebula Processional March or post Weasels Rip My Flesh to prove you wrong? Before you go blasting off, do your DD.

  • As well, Im posting for 2 days ORANGE COUNTY LUMBER TRUCK, where Frank handles all the SAX duties under the covers. As soon as I record all the other SAX innovations he did, Ill post them idiot.

  • Lovely, Fantastic stuff! Thank you very much for uploading. The whole band is outstanding, please upload more!
