Please, can you tell in more details about left side of this accordion. It's a bit strange to see free bass system separated, because usually converter accordions have a switch turning off/on free bass. I just haven't ever seen the solution like your accordion has. Was this left-side system installed by default or you changed it yourself&
And what is the name of your accordion? (I just can't see from here :) )
How long did you rehearse this piece before the show? And a more important question...why did you stop playing accordion? (Your kind of a big deal man haha!)
Hi Carl, great to hear from you. This video was shot in the mid 90's and aired shortly after this studio recording. Frank had many great students. I wish we had taken the time to record each other but like so many musicians we were busy practicing and looking for the next gig to play. I'm glad you found the video and took the time to write. Thanks, Mike.
Your articulation is fantastic clean and hitting "the point". I'd be lucky to play Bach the way you do it. You are a master of the accordion for sure and there are not much accordionists that can perform like this. Great admirance for this !
VERY fine playing! So clean and articulate! It must be very difficult to split the third part between the right and left hands as you do. Love how the bassetti takes what would normally be the part for the pedals! A WONDERFUL performance, sir!!
Thanks, for your comment. I am going to release a video soon of Mendelssohn's Prelude Op. 35 in b minor. This is by far the most difficult piece I have ever played. The left hand is more challenging then the right hand. It sounds great on the accordion.
xbox2, a stradella accordion (regular accordion) can play 3 notes of a chord by pushing one button and has a one octave range. On a bassetti accordion each button plays one note so to play a chord you need to push 3 buttons. A bassetti accordion also has over a 4 octave range.
yeah, i see....it seems that a stradella accordion cannot play some complex works. i am considering to get a bassetti accordion so that i can play some piano works.
i think a bassetti accordion is a mobile piano, isn't it?
I have a concern about the size of the button layout on the bass side. Doesn't your hand have to reach very far in to reach the free basses? Isn't there a good chance of pushing down on some of the buttons on the Stradella part? Somehow it seems impractical compared to a converter accordion.
Worras2007, this is a Giulietti Super Continental Bassetti Accordion which I bought new in 1981 for $4,500. To my knowledge there were only 3 or 4 made. This accordion was the best thing I ever bought. Just think about it; I played it 7 days a week for 10 years (1981-1991) for a gazillion hours. It never needed any repairs, batteries,or fuel. It paid for itself many times over and I still have it today.

Brilliant! Would it be a natural progression to play the bayan, or is it a totally different technique on the right hand?

Yes, a bassetti accordion will allow you to play Bach works as written.

Nice performance, and finally something different from the 565 d minor. Thanks.

I had to cut the middle part out because of time restraints for the TV program. Thanks for watching.

I hope you will.

Extremely enjoyable.
This kind of performance is heard here in Munich.
I have not heard such a thing elsewhere.
Thanks to your teacher Professor Porto.
This is a worthy memorial.
