" waves to the coastguard, waves to the flag, waves to the shore. why did i talk to that filthy old man, and shake his hand, waves to coastguard, waves to the bay, waves to the shore, why did i talk to that filthy old man, why did i shake his hand, why did i sleep with that filthy old man, and wig his head, and then repeates......
But that cant be right though, unless the lead singer is gay... sleep with that filthy old man ??!!!!!
@CapTainBuckAHOE It's either ways to the coastguard etc. or waves. And it's "lick his hand". Other than that I think you got it right. I don't think the lead singer is gay lol I heard from him the lyrics are based on an old saying. I'll try to remember
@nicck ya i really dont think the lead singers gay either lol i just wish i knew the lyrics to the song. thanks though for the reply i really love this band
i love this song so much i wish someone knew the actual lyrics to this song....
i have tried so hard to find the lyrics to this song but i cant find them so i tried to make out the lyrics my self and it sounds like at 2:10 until the rest of the song hes saying
Only got into this group last summer, BOUGHT all their stuff on itunes.
The Here Comes Everyone lp is fantastic.
Melancholy Man is a song I have listened to consistently for the past year and I think I will never ever tire of it, the perfect blend of synth and guitar, upbeat yet melancholic!
If you like this, you might like a band from the same period called Field Mice ; soft melancholic guitars and voices. And if you like synths and electronic upbeats, try Durutti Column (from the same label Factory ?). But you might already know these bands...
The Wake and Bobby Wratten, the singer and singwriter from the Fieldmice, have actually worked together on a project called The Occasional Keepers. Their second album is amazing.
can someone please help me..... i love this song too much to go on in life without knowing the lyrics

@telemat Yeah, yeah, I do know these bands, and they are lovely...music of the 80s was good, I have to say, and I mean alternative bands :)
