It seems like he as a auto, so he was building boost so he can get a good 60ft, remember time does not start untill you leave/move.

it took him a long time to launch to make the race fair.. lets say car A runs a 15 sec qtr mile and car B runs a 12 sec qtr mile.. you give car A a 3 sec head start to make it and even match up.. that way its all about response time foooool
