You know what? Now that I think about it, it's not ALL the Council that are being ass-bags, but mostly the Turian.

Actually, it was him being the "ass-bag" in your own words in ME1 aswell "No, humanity is not ready!" That made me not have Garrus in my squad for my whole first playthrough.

Yes, I know, I practically only use a Garrus + Liara squad, but that line from the Turian Councilor made me think all Turians where little fuc***. Now they're probably my favourite species though. But I hate that councilor. Can you believe that I actually tried to find a way to glitch the game out so I could kill him by using a Grenade as a time bomb?

I found this conversation with the council to be very bizarre because the Asari councilor said at the end of ME1 that Shepard saved not only the council but "billions from Sovereign and the Reapers". Now they have made a 180 degree turn?

I'm sorry, but it's slack writing, purely a plot device to allow some extra length for ME3's story.
