  • Just watched the complete film, I would have kill him long b4, he deserve it

  • @Earthrainbow Love does strange things to people.

  • I bought DVD to watch, wanted to know why they killed each other, I would have killed him long before that, he was a complete jerk

  • @Earthrainbow Yes he was. And Pearl Chavez was gorgeous. Check out my video on the duel in the sun location! Its quite intresting! : )

  • @niceguy045 Yes I did and liked it very much, mind you I liked her b4 but I've changed my mind after Ive seen some more movies of her, she is best in this and love letters, I think her husband wrote this film specially for her and she did her best there.

  • my favorite peck movie. so strong and powerful. no words can describe.

  • Bang Bang "I love you!" Bang Bang "I love you more!' Dies in each other arms. I'm sorry, but I don't think it was true love. I don't believe anyone who truly love each other would try to ahem "shoot" one another. If they have an argument, they should try to settle it peacefully, NOT with guns. I really think they could have done better with this movie.

  • I was just so influenced by that, I need to find the full version

  • my favorite western movie and absolute favorite peck western

  • garsh...it's only bullets...we can still walk, talk and love...

  • I could NOT believe how melodramatic this is. I mean, shooting each other to death?? It is sort of romantic in a screwed up way!

  • I saw it once in 1968...when I was 7 years old. Never seen it after that. Do remember that at the end Peck is dying....not bad memory eh? :-)

  • They are so bipolar in the movie (at least she is, he's just possessive)

but I love it. It's like dirty Romeo and Juliet.

  • I would like to tall everybody... Ive been in these exact mountains where they shoot eachother. I know where this location is! Check out my video I have a video on it! It is pretty cool! I also climbed up to squaws head rock!

  • This is a Italian version!

    Jennifer Jones is STUNNING!

Between two brothers, the good and the bad, she preferred the bad, an unhappy choice. Soon after came THE DUEL IN THE SUN...Though it was too late for tears...

In Brazil this WESTERN was entitled DUELO AO SOL.

I'm from Brazil and member of the Cineclube dos Amigos do Western-CAW.

  • @EddieLancaster11 yes .. .wasnt she beautiful in this movie!!!!

  • I just saw the movie in English. Of course the spanish is more emotional. peck is a real SOB, and she is out to kill him. He has killed 2 of her suitors.

    2 shots beginning

    Peck " I'm coming down"

after the sillouette shot, he says he is dying, she doesn't believe him, and says she is coming up to kill him.

The look on her face at 3:11, is him telling her "I'm dying... please hold me.. I love you" He is not saying any special secret she did not know about.. except the "hold me" part.

  • there is also a part before this, of his father, Barry, ore and his wife, Gish, go through the same thing, almost exactly, and Gish dies in her husbands arms.. An excellent scene.

  • I would also like to add that the scene at 3:11, where the camera is BEHIND the shadow of Peck... the shadow is us, the viewer REALLY putting us in the action. WE are shot... and it brings back those rejections in love that people suffer in life. Fascinatig director.

  • To Gramson28 - thank you for your erudite comments - makes a refreshing change these days - I agree she is very much like Liz Taylor only more attractive. Impossible to take your eyes off her - sheer animal magnetism

  • Thanks zthetha.. amazingly, all the comments on this arerefllecting the lives that were touched by this scene. Usually, there are some insennsitive comments. I tried to find out Miss Jones wherabouts.... unfortunately, she died just last month, or December..I would have liked to tell her how she touched so many lives in just this small place.

  • This has to be the greatest love scene ever made. Romeo and Juliet ( and Winchester Rifle, instead of poison)

  • I could always cry, when I see the final scene of this brillant movie.

  • I find it hard to understand how so many people had forgoten that Jennifer Jones made movies like this in her hayday and that at the time of her death so few people had even heard of her or new of her movies. Great film and great stars..

  • This is the most romantic damn movie I have ever seen.

  • @joanjuneau ah, ain't it the truth ? Nice to find someone that agrees with me........

  • This love climax has etched in my mind.Yet to find a parallel.

    Can I get English version?

  • sexiest film scene ever

  • love this movie! so powerful.I cry everytime.

  • my fav western movie of all time. awesome acting and scenery

  • what???

    this is soo amazingly sad....

    I can't believe they die ....

  • She'd have been lucky to hit the bloody mountain the way that barrel was shaking! Wish I knew what they were saying - is this the first spaghetti western d'ya think?

  • not a sphaghetti western. just one of peck and jones' finest

  • yes, she closes her eyes, and shakes the rifle while shooting. But still a great scene. She looks amazingly like Elizabeth Taylor at 5:50. She steals the whole movie.Incredible acting talent. This scene reflects the human condition.

  • La primera vez que he visto la pelicula yo era una niña y me ha empresionado muchiosimo el final tan triste.Yo no entendia como lo podian hacer amandose los dos!

  • Awsome i love this movie!!!! Excellent job !!!!
