Not so long ago, my husband and I went to see Why Did I Get Married and as this credits rolled and this song played, tears fell because I was living this song....I looked at him and I repeated these words "you belong to me".....funny, looking back how life has its twists and turns....and I promised myself then, never again.... Yep Im still married, but I got a different attitude..... And for those that don't understand my comment.....keep living....one day you will! Peace

She stopped her limo, had her driver come over to us and he brought us over to her limo and she rolled down the window and we stood there with her for about 15mins...very sweet and loving lady indeed. I swear every time i hear Anita Baker's voice i think of the sweetest deepest dark forbidden chocolate. Such a huge and phonominal voice from a woman of petite stature. She is truly in a class all of her own " No one in the world" can even come close imitating let alone duplicating her!

I loooooove this version. It's so relaxing. I didn't know she did a version till I saw the tyler perry movie. Sometimes I skip to the end just to hear this song. I usually listen to the Chaka Khan version but now just this one cause you can really feel it.
Btw people stop saying us young'ns don't know real music cause some do. I'm 19 and have been listening to oldies since I can remember.

Does anyone have the other song "You belong to me" of Anita Baker's to post on youtube? This other song is from the "Giving you the best that I got" album. Everyone thought I was crazy when I said that there were two of her songs with the same name. iTunes has it.

Amazing. Simply amazing. I'm sure I might get flamed for saying this, but Anita Baker puts the others who sing this to shame. Can anyone else FEEL her pain when she sings this? Damn, I feel it! The others sound like they don't own it, and don't get it, let alone own it like Anita owns it. Personally, I think it's her beautifully soulful voice, but also how she slowed the tempo of the song way down! Simply amazing!

Anita is such a great and wonderful singer - I love her so much. I really love this song by Michael MacDonald of the Doobie Brothers. I'm pretty sure he's proud of her vocal presentation of his song. This is timeless. Well done Anita!!!!!
