It actually caused FIATs bad reputation of making cars that will rust in a year. That's even worse than if they just stole it. Copying western car designs was common thing in USSR.

That ugly 5-door version is called Skoda Favorit, SW is called Forman. I used to have one. They may look similar and both are engine, front wheel drive. So much for the similarities.
Design of Favorit is from Bertone - I don't know where he took inspiration from, but I suspect definately not Lada Samara. Everything else was engineered by Skoda.

@TheDamage32 yes i now there name but thats what i like to call them an ugly copy of a samara (design only) definitly they did not copy any mechanical parts because my uncles skoda had 3 replacements of engine many parts replaced and it was scraped 8years ago an my samara was both 3years before and still runs perfect with here original engine and with minor parts changes till now 22years later
