you can use many different types of fillament like platinum ,carbon ,gold ,tantalum,titanium , and the best in my own appinion tungsten

you could make the bulb more eficcient by drilling two holes in the sides of the glass and fitting the wires through and the fillament and then seal them up as airtight as possible then get a topper or a vacuum pump and pump out all the air ..it worked for me best with a platinum fillament and carbon fillament mine was a scienc prodject for school and mine lasted upto 8 days cont....the battery died before the bulb and i think it still works..
