I did not know that Elvis ever wrote anything. Little of his early material was original, even down to Teddy Bear Blues from the 1920's became Teddy Bear. I am not an Elvis hater and have visited Sun Studio, Gracelands and his home in Tupelo. Compare his Blue Sweud shoes with Carl Perkins' original and see what Elvis had was sex appeal.
@bornonafarm if ur not an elvis hater then why bring it up at all of course just another jealous person thats all and ill bet u've never visited those places ur just sayin that
I think this song of Elvis is my absolute favorite! That sexy voice comes through a lot in this one I think. What a hunk of a man he was! gorgeous inside and out.....
When I hear this song I have to wonder where Oasis got the idea for their recent hit, ¨Get off you high horse lady". Hmmm.....seems they just want to steal other people´s songs and just change the lyrics. I´ve just been listening to Suspicious Minds and now I have an uncanny desire to write a song called Delicious Wines. If the melody bears a slight resemblance to Suspicious Minds, it´s purely coincidental.
@eddiespike you do realise this isn't an elvis track? its a cover of tommy tucker. Also elvis was accused multiple times of stealing r&b music by artists such as little richard and muddy waters, In fact muddy waters took exception to elvis' recording of trouble, as it sounded an awful lot like hoochie coochie man. So next time you feel the urge to make a wisecrack about plagarism, try not to look like such a hypocrite in doing so.
@BarbaraLois oh dont be so melodramatic. also for you to call me an elvis hater is just plain stupid, i love elvis and his music, and just because its a cover doesnt make it less of a good song, but for someone to criticise a band for taking some lyrics from this without even realising this in itself is a cover is just plain ignorant. so sorry to burst your bubble babs but tommy tucker wrote this song, and he recorded it first, it isnt even a secret, its a well known fact.
@suzie6366 "The song, which Tucker penned, has appeared in several soundtracks, for example The Who's Quadrophenia (1979)". If you are correct then my apologies, however i got my information from what i had read, and that is the quote.
@jtowen06 Were Both Correct!! Tommy Tucker was actually Robert Higgenbothem's Stage Name. I prefer Tucker's version to Elvis' Not knocking the King.Thats my personal preference.Elvis was the Greatest.
@jtowen06 you attacked me out of the blue, you'll see the comment you took offense to was aimed at someone that criticised Oasis for using the melody to this song in their own track called "Get off you high horse" and i was pointing out that they shouldn't be accusing others of theft when they are listening to a cover themselves, its massively hypocritical.
this is the absolute definitive version....pure rock and roll. Elvis is the King, hands down.

Does anyone think that's an electric sitar guitar playing in the background?- It sure sounds like it in the intro. Interesting choice!
