I really like your videos i have done some airiel photography too. Pretty neat stuff. But on the other hand you are an idiot. You and your god shit. There is no such thing.
FYI, current thought is that the transition between pahoehoe and a'a is due to efusion rate. That is probably a bit more than you would want to go into, though. Nice video.
You've inspired me! My family and I are driving to McCall Idaho for vacation, but on our way back to Colorado we're leaving a day early taking back roads to see the craters!
Magma? Pushing through? Oceanic? Sinter? Screw that, God made it all, lesson over. :P Good videos, Thunderfoot. You definitely need something to block out some of that wind though.
Since we can't see your face anyway, could you re-dub your commentary without the wind? The wind noise is very distracting and sometimes completely obscures your words... which we want to hear!
I love being in national parks with my geologist friends. They always have amazing insight into the terrain.
when i was a lot younger i was lucky enough to be able to walk the Kilauea caldera and i remember learning about pahoihoi and A'ha. There is another sort of lava formation (if thats the right word) called Pele's hair, that i assume forms in more explosive eruptions where the lava is blasted into the air and essentially cools into these long very thin and delicate strands.
This series is awesome. Makes me want to take a road trip soon. Thanks Tfoot
Thunderf00t, i love the music selections you make. i don't know that i'd listen to these tunes independently, but setting your videos to this music has got me interested. Anywhere i can find your soundtrack listing?
I love going to Craters of the Moon. It is really a neat place to go and visit. Going down into the lava tubes in the summertime is the best, it is so nice and cool!!!
Is this thunderf00t?

There are cameras which have microphones automatically limiting the effects of wind noise. Get one.

I wonder, has any glass blower suited up and made a piece right from nature? I bet it would go for big bucks!

Fascinating stuff. You make a good "science presenter".

Have you thought about an external/boom mic with a wind muff for outdoor shooting in high-breeze conditions? :)

Aiya! That's some serious wind! I recommend some serious windscreen technology as a Christmas present to your camera.
Great science lessons though! Looks like a cool place to visit.
