May God bless and keep you,Arthur. I echo the comment left below, you will never know how much this then 14 year old loved you, it wasn't a dance unless it ended with sweet soul music. To achieve excellence in your life's work is the greatest gift you can give you gave it all. Thank you.
Can someone tell me why this great man still doesn't have a tombstone. Several weeks ago I went to his grave and all I saw was a little picture of Arthur Lee. I felt a bit hurt, he was my musical mentor for several years before he left us.He used to sing "do you like good chicken?" when we stayed for dinner. I held his hand the day before he died, it was on a sunday. Before people could phone me I saw it on the news.
@achterlijkentette no joke . he do sound like terence trent darby. the way he attack the song with the fervor and all. but nobody sound like sam but sam
Even made me cry reading comments below, what a great man. Otis Redding was spot on with Arthur as his protege. Only really heard Arthurs 'funky' stuff previously but this Sam Cooke ballad he does proud.
If I didn't know better I could swear it was Sam Cooke, one of my old time favorites. Authur you did it beatuifully it bought tears to my eyes, the sincere soul and feeling just takes you to another level. Authur was one of the under rated singers of his era. I grew up listening to these great muscians, unfortunatley they are a dying breed, what a shame!! now we are bombarded with hip-hop and gansta rap. Those singers swept the woman off their feet literally, We miss you Authur, God bless.
Yes unfortunately Authur passed after a long time bout with cancer in 2003. If you use the google seach engine and type in "Authur Conley biography" check out aol music this will give you comprehinsive detailed information on Authur. During Authurs interview he looked like he was out of place, but when he sat down at that piano and started to sing, omG he turned you every which way but loose. Randy Crawford has this same magic. Whish you all the best.
Thanks for posting this, Wonderful, R.I.P Undle Arthur, Goosebumps all over just from this short clip. Tells you true emotions come through his voice.
this beautiful song makes tears well up in my eyes everytime i hear it. the depth and intensity in which he sings makes my flesh weak. i love every sang he ever sang, and i will deeply miss arthur conley, even though i had no occasion to meet him. i wish i could have met him.
Thank you for posting this and thank you Arthur for singing for us. This was just wonderful! I grew up in the 60's and soul and motown, especially where I lived, was where it was at. Loved it!!! Again, thanks!
MY GOODNESS! This is my first time hearing this song...All I can say is AMAZING! That was beautiful! He sounded just amazing, singing live. RIP Arthur Conley.
Do you like soul music, that sweet soul music. Just like Author Conley now, yeah yeah. I didn't know Author Conley could sing like this. I love this. Do you like soul heaven now, see you in soul heaven now, yeah yeah yeah yeah.
OMG you are so right. I was thinking IS THAT SAM COOKE or what. I loved Sam but Arthur is my man now. Nothing but soul here. Why is he not as well known as some of the other artists of his day/genre. He was awesome! I love his raspy tone.
mr Conley, you can make me cry every day!

I miss this beautiful stuff. I am not putting Elvis in the same category, but he had it to in a white boy kind of way.

I hear you about the rap and crap out today.
But just like with food...it is not who makes it and how nor the taste...just a quick money-maker and all is good. Sad sad sad!
