  • this may be my favorite.

  • Some parts remind me of the beach boys, others reminds me of the beatles

  • <3

  • Girl Inform Me is just a beautiful song and it used to be my alarm on my iphone when I used to have one. I like Girl Sailor only more. Wincing owns.

  • more Beach Boys than Beatles

  • @gene12586 hey tell me a few Beach Boys songs then mate

  • @crystalguada24 time to make a move

  • IM MAD SHITFACED RIGHT NOW

  • Why is there a comment about the Beatles on every indie song I listen to...

  • @cooookiemonsterrrrrr because they're kings of indie music :D

  • those 9 dislikers didn't get informed

  • See Emily Play.

  • the shins always manage to cheer me up when i'm sad or in a bad mood.

  • This song is poetry.

  • Amazing! =)

  • Unkown quotients you must be using Potions

  • I wish this song were longer.

  • I just wish I had more than 87 cents so I could buy all The Shin's abums, plus ringtones of their songs.

  • On my second listen I do hear a Kink sound--it's like a Kink backing track with a Beach Boys' melody with Ray Davies/Brian Wilson singing. It doesn't get any better than that. All those nasayers who think that only the "good old days" have good music need to listen to The Shins, Eels, etc. There is still great music all around us.

  • forgot about this song, it's perfect

  • I've never heard these guys until now, but a couple seconds into this song and it's made this crappy monday alright. I will definitely go into depth looking for more of their music.

  • Yeah, I don't hear The Beatles at all I hear the Kinks for sure.

  • More Brian Wilson influence than the Beatles or Kinks although I LOVE both bands.

  • @Transterra55 good call

  • there definitely seems to be an influence in this song's sound - the fuzzy tonal electric guitar, the notes James Mercer sings for this song, the oohs from the background vocals... I can hear the Beatles in this

  • i can hear the Shins in this

  • I love the way this song makes me feel... It's like James is a wizard and his music are his spells

  • How could 0.00237% of the people out there hear this not like it? It doesn't make sense b/c everyone I know except for one person likes the Shins.

  • i can hear the Beatles in this

  • @jdklaffke14 and the Kinks!

  • @jdklaffke14 define hear.

  • i love this song<3

  • 7 people know you cant cut mustard :(

  • What brand of coffee do you drink?

  • @hottyyhips *make

  • People are always making smart comments about what's wrong with x number of people, x being the amount of dislikes the video has.

So instead, I'm just gonna say ... I can't even see the red bit of the like bar :D

  • This bands one of the greatest bands of our generation.. this is REAL music.. not that shit you hear on the radio.. yes it's SHIT not music.

  • I just realized they are from my hometown. I WILL NEVER LEAVE <3

  • this guys would've been huge in a different era

i love their song titles.. they always catch my eye

  • Would have bet a dollar they were British

  • The only problem with this song is that it's too short. :(

  • @eggsnbaconify yeah dude this song sounds particularly beatles-y

  • fresh song :D

  • @ShutYourShutUpHole

Why the hell are u even commenting then?

  • 6 people weren't informed...

  • Best 2 Minutes and 20 Seconds of My Life.

  • sounds like lucy in the sky with diamonds :) :21

  • @eggsnbaconify

but the shins are even better than the beatles:-)

  • @essomenic17 ehm.... no??

  • @ShutYourShutUpHole you know nothing fool go and jump in the sea

  • @eggsnbaconify really? early or late beatles?

  • @RedLights1000

    that doesnt make sense

  • @sniks27 do the shins sound like the early beatles albums or more their late albums?

  • @RedLights1000

right, i get it now! thanks!

    ; )

  • one of my favorite songs.

  • @eggsnbaconify NO. BAD. BAD. ANGRY PERSON. How dare thee insult the shins in such a way. o;< DIRTY.. What are the kids calling it these days? Oh yes, DIRTY JEW.

  • I hope to fall in love again one day, and sing along to this with a new boy in my heart.

  • @eggsnbaconify This band reminds me of The Shins

  • @AtOddsBand Bravo. You sir, are most definitely NOT an idiot. (:

  • @AtOddsBand lol

  • 5 people were not informed.

  • amazing.

  • @dcmushi it's kinda pansy.

  • Nothing beats driving in the sun while singing this with your woman knowing that all is well in life

  • how the fuck could you dislike this????

  • gotta love my buds from Oregon!!! amazing music from the shins

  • When I Goose-Step EP has to be their best work, but I really do respect this album, 100%. This song seems kind of like the backbone to the record. Subtle, but stable. It's like The Apples' song "Shine A Light" on their 1998 record, "Tone Soul Evolution". I much prefer the workings of Robert Schneider, but James Mercer is a notable musician. No doubt about that. Thanks for the upload!

  • @whatabeautifulscene I love that tune when I goosestep but could only find it on live albums or bootlegs. I'll search for that ep now.

  • @guitargeekusa I believe the studio version is much better. The live version sounds so much different. I guess it's because it isn't masked by tape, I suppose.

  • @whatabeautifulscene You're a connoisseur of bullshit. Go drink some fancy wine and then spit it into a bowl. I-thank-you.

  • @SuperiorSwagon1 I needed that laugh, today. Thanks.

  • @whatabeautifulscene No Problem. I actually agree haha. Have a good one.

  • @XiuTheFeared Then why on Earth are you viewing this video in the first place? Lol

  • @XiuTheFeared agree to the full i went and had a nap thanks to his. i've known turtles lacking all legs faster. hell rocks are faster than this song!

  • @goatedturtle wait, were you trying to be funny? well in that case sir you failed completely.

  • @reginaspanties i dont know what i put i forget but it was probably something negative because this is appaling and not worthy of the time its taking me to type this but i seem to remember i found this while drunk so i imagine my words were... 'colourful'

if you care enough about my post that you replied theni think i did well all things considered to my state at the time.

  • @XiuTheFeared

than why the fuck are you listening to it?

  • @XiuTheFeared Don't listen to it...simple as that. Don't go being a douche on music vids that are good.

  • Comment removed

  • @XiuTheFeared I can't see why you'd be listening to it then.

  • 4 people were upset that the shins figured out they were using potions.

  • such a beautiful song :)

  • this whole album is amazing.

  • @ZannieFlash det er det absolutt

  • hip :p

  • Great song...go back and listen to The Who, Moody Blues, Small Faces and any number of Brit invasion groups to hear where this came from. Does not take away from a good listen here though.

  • The Shins are amazing! There isn't a song of theirs that I'd ever dear skip or turn off until it's done. I love everything about their music.

Hell, I'm in love with them. ♥

  • reaaally great indie pop band

  • :) <3

  • i love the shins . FIN . :D

  • "how else can you tie my head to the sky." Im lovin the picture language.

  • @BEGraduate haha I think that Pink Floyd is pretty original wouldn't you agree? I think they're more so than the Beatles or the Shins, though both bands are great. I wouldn't say that the Shins are the most original since the Beatles because Pink Floyd was after the Beatles and in my opinion they're by far the most original band I've ever heard.

  • @ledfreakinzeppelin68 I agree. Pink Floyd is the greatest band of all time, and there really is no one more original than them. You can't even put a genre to them. Then I'd say the Beatles.

    And then the Shins. :)

  • say them touring this album in minneapolis. one of the top 5 shows i've ever seen. they played a lot of flake music stuff too. blew me away.

  • The melody to this song is so unique and ever-changing. A through-written classic with no repetition. This is a song that songwriters will marvel at for all modern times.

  • 'but your lips when we speak are the valleys and peaks of a mountain range on fire'

these lyrics blow my mind away

  • I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THE SHINS

  • it's pretty incredible how they have a different sound in each album, but i think i like this sound the best

  • Thank God for The Shins

  • Prolly the best original sound since the Beatles :)

  • @BEGraduate hmm, not really the shins is amazing and original...but there are plenty of other bands with amazing and original sounds--just not like the Beatles.

    There's the Gorillaz for example.

  • I hear a mix of the beatles and the beach boys, i love it.

  • are they trying to be a bit like the beatles? *shrugs* awesome anyway.

  • People really should post lyrics in descrition when uploading The Shins.

  • Oh, The Shins, how I love you so~

  • "How else could you tie my head to the sky?" Absolutely brilliant!!!!

  • i love love lurve-ey this song xx

  • The Shins are amazing and they do it without using crude language, or selling out...again they are amazing!

  • The song is great - it almost sounds like something off of The Who's Tommy album.

  • love it! yeah ! ♥

  • this song is so cute :)

  • if u could hav sex with songs .....i'd pick this 1

  • @Dontwatchthisbtw I have to settle with having while listening to them :\

  • Best song to just go outside at night and pop this in on the ipod and look at the stars. I swear they were moving to the tune

  • If you don't love this little song you are a massive dick.

  • @wungabunga I may have a massive dick, but I am not one! I love this song!

  • your clever eyes could easily discuise some backwards purpose its enough to make me nervouse!!

the main sourse of my anxieties when it comes to people i don't know well.

    this song,,, I LOVE<33

  • "But your lips when we speak are the valleys and peaks of a mountain range on fire.""

these guys are really underestimated as lyricists

  • Anything they ever say is fucking genius

    in any song.

  • This is my favourite album EVER. Released in 2001, and nothing has compared to it since.

  • nice

  • loveeeee this

  • "Your lips when we speak are the valleys and peaks of a mountain range on fire" Brilliantly poetic

  • Unknown quotients, you must be using potions. How else could you tie my head to the sky?

best part in the whole songgg

  • @wafflehouseco i agree i love that part! i also love the very first few lines

  • perfect, nothing else, just perfect

  • @eggsnbaconify

    Haha, you too?

  • one of my fave songs by the shins :)

  • i cant really get into the shins, but i really like this song

  • i love this song

it reminds me of norrth carolina and amatuer skateboarding

  • except for the fact that the shins happen to be ten times better than weezer?

  • lol

  • you are agreeing with me right?

  • No. It's like comparing apples to oranges. They are not better. They are different from and just as good.

  • I love the "revenge of the nerds" likeness that The Shins and Weezer have. They both have great word choice.

  • This song=Heaven.

  • what a perfect song.

  • best song i have ever heard.

  • omg i love The Shins! amazing work man

  • i love this soong! (=

my favourite verse is the one that starts off with

"unknown quotients you must be using potions! how else could you tie my head to the sky? this new convection has left me wondering why i can't concern myself with ordinary tripe."

    <3
