at 1:25, if it's what I think it is, it's a similar sound to what Jimi Hendrix did in Voodoo Chile' where you hold your hand on the strings of an electric guitar, but don't press them completely against the neck. You'd quickly strum the pick across the strings like you normally would, but your hand prevents the the strings from vibrating. that's what it sounds like to me they are doing.
