STOL stands for short take off or landing. It's ability to take off or land in very short distance. The big tires are so it can handle rough terrain.

The wing is designed so that it trades soeed for lift. It has leading edge slats and a large lift area and camber. This allows it to provide more lift at low speeds.

This is a great DVD. I love the detailed information given about the plane and the in-cockpit flying demonstrations. I only wish the canyon flying was done in canyons with towering mountains on both sides. Can't wait for volume II.

Fantastic video(although I hated waiting a year for this!!!). Well made / good content. I would have wanted to see actual takeoff /landing distances measured and superimposed onscreen at that specific location and conditions. Also, a wider angle lens in-cockpit would show more and be less dizzying occasionally. Overall this video/DVD product is easily an 8 or 9 out of 10. Bill Berle, Los Angeles, CA... a 701 Wannabee and probable plans builder
