a bit of inconsistency here: Firstly, he says ' don't marry too young', because we are in the modern world (even though most christians married young in times past.) Secondly, make sure the woman does not make the first move because we aren't into the modern world.
The first thing you need to do when interpreting scripture is figure out what is culturally relative and what goes beyond the culturally relative and implies a moral principle that is relevant for all time and cultures.

My grandfather married my grandma when she was 15 with a foundation built on Christ... it lasted until she died 64 years later. So, if my daughter or son wishes to be in a relationship with someone I see no harm in it. I definitely think this guy, Paul, is being quite harsh. he said word for word, that it was wrong for a woman to at all flaunt the frame of her body. and he doesn't have the same interpretation as to what it means to "approach" someone. to admit feelings or to make an invitation for courtship is not the same thing as being sensual. sensuality is not dirty, it's human nature and absolutely unavoidable.

There are people that have temporary emotional longings for grace... this is exactly what is meant in the parable of the seed, the sower and the four types of soil....in scripture.

As far as the whole Ruth thing. Parallel her story to Tamar. She was in a desperate situation as a foreign widow. While the bible does not portray either of them as necessarily immoral, it does not exactly endorse their actions for the readers to follow. With the "uncovering his feet" thing. I don't know what that means (I've heard the theories). But one thing I do know, she was NOT brazenly going after a man because of the sensual desires in her heart.

If someone burns with a passionate desire for Jesus Christ to be Lord over their lives, to have everything, a desire to surrender all to Him and keep nothing back, God will not stop them and God will give you your desire to be a virtuous woman. Some people put on a facade and say they want to be virtuous men and women and say they can't, but God will always give grace to the humble.
@OreoSoleil God's working on me, too. I've had problems with bitterness and anger over injustice, infidelity, and teachings of cheap grace. Although I come from a charismatic background and don't agree with PW on all things, many of the concerns he has over some abuses typically found in charismatic churches are very much the same objections I have, too. One preacher I loved dearly is Leonard Ravenhill who was also charismatic but not the crazy kind--just deeply sincere and Biblical.
This message is so right on. I just got out of a relationship that was so superficial. This person said she was a believer but did not and would not lead a Godly life. It was all about money and what I could do for her. Guess I should have seen the red flags early on. The way she dressed, being submissive as the Bible speaks. 1) Women being considered persons under the law
2) Women having the right to vote

A virtuous woman is an amazing gift from YAHUVEH (YAHWEH). I pray that YAHUVEH will raise up more virtuous women and more virtuous men. This life is but a vapor and beauty vanishes in the morning. On hearing this, I was so ashamed. To be a virtuous woman of God is such a high calling. I was ashamed in how I had acted around a non-believer who had a very unclean spirit in him. The truth of the matter is that most women go outside of the Church to pick up their so-called ideal man and then hope to convert him into going to Church. This is one of the biggest reasons we see mothers alone with their kids sitting in the congregations. It's hard to find spiritual value in a man who became a husband based on an secular ideal or desire.

@MrNickKane Some Christians distance themselves from the world so much that they lose their masculinity to a degree. We're supposed to work with our hands, and be men, not be "in love" with God but love him through our actions. We were not equipped with muscles for no reason.
a bit of inconsistency here: Firstly, he says ' don't marry too young', because we are in the modern world (even though most christians married young in times past.) Secondly, make sure the woman does not make the first move because we aren't into the modern world.
The first thing you need to do when interpreting scripture is figure out what is culturally relative and what goes beyond the culturally relative and implies a moral principle that is relevant for all time and cultures.

My grandfather married my grandma when she was 15 with a foundation built on Christ... it lasted until she died 64 years later. So, if my daughter or son wishes to be in a relationship with someone I see no harm in it. Women in biblical times got married and had successful relationships at young ages and I dont think I will let "todays" world affect that. But I can understand your viewpoint and respect it. @cooljen94 not at all... but I would suggest primarily... is journalism an excuse to avoid the high calling of being a wife and mom? for many in the church... they trade in lesser joys (career, jobs, and yes, even other supposed callings like being a missionary) for the joy-filled high calling of being a spouse and parent... which could be the greatest mission calling of all for some... i would say, love Jesus supremely and let Him call you to whatever but be a woman before a career-woman...

All Ruth did, in accordance with Naomi's instruction, was to let Boaz know of his responsibility towards her under that law. I definitely think this guy, Paul, is being quite harsh. he said word for word, that it was wrong for a woman to at all flaunt the frame of her body. and he doesn't have the same interpretation as to what it means to "approach" someone. to admit feelings or to make an invitation for courtship is not the same thing as being sensual. sensuality is not dirty, it's human nature and absolutely unavoidable.

Your first question is a little more complicated and yet very simple....
Grace CAN be sought; BUT, a person will NOT seek it until they are motivated by God to do so.
There are people that have temporary emotional longings for grace... this is exactly what is meant in the parable of the seed, the sower and the four types of soil....in scripture.
Only the seed that was thrown on the good soil takes root and prospers...did the soil make itself good?

As far as the whole Ruth thing. Parallel her story to Tamar. She was in a desperate situation as a foreign widow. While the bible does not portray either of them as necessarily immoral, it does not exactly endorse their actions for the readers to follow. With the "uncovering his feet" thing. I don't know what that means (I've heard the theories). But one thing I do know, she was NOT brazenly going after a man because of the sensual desires in her heart.

if you can remotely say that non-believers "MUST" be unspeakably tortured forever then you are the most evil piece of shit imaginable. To worship a belief system that advocates such fucked up things--you have to be a sick mental case.

@sweetsweatyfeet I felt it best to delete some of the things I said. There have been so many abuses from so many cruel hearted cults that the whole idea of God sending people to hell had given a very unfair and foul image of God to people. And yet, I definitely believe in a hell without a shadow of doubt. Think about Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot. Do you think they can murder millions and just sleep or even go to heaven? What about those who burn children in the arms of idols?

@sweetsweatyfeet God is not looking for opportunities to torture people forever. If that's your idea of God, then maybe your idea of God is from the bronze age distortions of God's love and justice. If any of us go to hell, it will have to be for a good, fair, honest reason otherwise Jesus would not bother to take the nails on the cross or the scourge or the crown of thorns to pay for our sins. Right? Does that make sense? God is trying to make a good thing happen without violating freedom.

@sweetsweatyfeet The problem is every time we chose to act selfishly, deceitfully, hypocritically, cowardly, narcissistically, arrogantly, unjustly, sinfully, and when God called us to do right but we chose to thwart His authority and go into sin, the God we pushed aside was an infinitely good God, an infinitely wise and loving, and righteous God. If the penalty were light, it would be like fining a rapist one penny and telling the victim she should get used to being offended that way.

@sweetsweatyfeet Truth is, the offense was heinous, but it doesn't seem that way because God doesn't mean anything to us, so we don't feel any need to repent. Yet, every breath we take, every heartbeat, every morsel of food, every blessing we have came from God, and all we can do is use His blessings against Him. The fact we're numb and isolated from God's feelings by our lack of love is not an excuse. And as for heaven and hell, they give us greater freedom to express love or hate for God.

@sweetsweatyfeet By choosing hell over heaven, we can send a message back to God that says, "I don't care if you gave me life and loved me enough to die on the cross to pay for my sins. I would rather go to hell and give up eternal life of love in heaven than to surrender to a loving and righteous God and give Him the glory He deserves. I want to live narcissistic and self-centered." Hell is an opportunity to express hate for a loving God. Heaven is an opportunity to live in love.

@sweetsweatyfeet God gave us freedom to choose, and some of those people who took the narcissistic road hijacked "religion" as such or just turned normal justice of God into a faulty concept of "religion" and began setting themselves up as intermediaries telling us we have to go through the cult leaders to get to Christ. It's pretty much the same thing Satan has always done. Grace is cheapened. New rules for salvation are written up to benefit the cult leaders.

@sweetsweatyfeet This gives us the opportunity to choose this day whether we will serve the cult leader, or Satan, or some other thing that will feed our lusts and pander to our cowardice, or whether we will surrender to God, trust God, and basically give ourselves to a Lord who is loving and can make good decisions. Will we love God or will we reject Him? And if hell seems too harsh for going against God, would it seem more reasonable to send people to hell for trusting God?

@OreoSoleil If you want to be a virtuous woman, that is a very strong sign that you probably are one. If someone burns with a passionate desire for Jesus Christ to be Lord over their lives, to have everything, a desire to surrender all to Him and keep nothing back, God will not stop them and God will give you your desire to be a virtuous woman. Some people put on a facade and say they want to be virtuous men and women and say they can't, but God will always give grace to the humble.

@OreoSoleil God's working on me, too. I've had problems with bitterness and anger over injustice, infidelity, and teachings of cheap grace. Although I come from a charismatic background and don't agree with PW on all things, many of the concerns he has over some abuses typically found in charismatic churches are very much the same objections I have, too. One preacher I loved dearly is Leonard Ravenhill who was also charismatic but not the crazy kind--just deeply sincere and Biblical.

This message is so right on. I just got out of a relationship that was so superficial. This person said she was a believer but did not and would not lead a Godly life. It was all about money and what I could do for her. Guess I should have seen the red flags early on. The way she dressed, being submissive as the Bible speaks. I cherished her and treated her like Christ would treat the church...Thank you Lord from sparing me from this relationship

1) Women being considered persons under the law
2) Women having the right to vote
3) Rape becomiong a crime.

A virtuous woman is an amazing gift from YAHUVEH (YAHWEH). I pray that YAHUVEH will raise up more virtuous women and more virtuous men. This life is but a vapor and beauty vanishes in the morning. Infatuation can be deceptive so put out that fire before you make the wrong decision. A virtuous woman is worth chasing to the end's of the earth but you will find her because YAHUVEH will place her in your path =). If you men aren't virtuous HE's not gonna give you a virtuous woman.

On hearing this, I was so ashamed. To be a virtuous woman of God is such a high calling. I was ashamed in how I had acted around a non-believer who had a very unclean spirit in him. How is it that I came to attract such a person while being despised by others? Obviously, I did not know the condition of my soul before God. And still, I don't know if I can live this down, but I'm praying to God to repent of it. For another thing, is that virtue is something I have not -kindness, gentleness, etc.

The truth of the matter is that most women go outside of the Church to pick up their so-called ideal man and then hope to convert him into going to Church. This is one of the biggest reasons we see mothers alone with their kids sitting in the congregations. It's hard to find spiritual value in a man who became a husband based on an secular ideal or desire.

It's interesting that Christian women who speak to me assume that, by my looks, I must be more interested in music and guy things. That I put value on the way I look. Actually, I find it more important to display my love of Scripture and be open about my faults and frailties. This display has earned me the mark of Cain.

Not to sound misogynistic but, it's been my experience that the ambitions of the women in the Church are not much different that those inside the world. Everyone around me knows the greatest difficulty with my relationships with women has always been my passion for the Word. it's ironic that a man who studies the word with zeal is not a man for them.

No, you are right. THAT'S the biggest problem I encountered. Most men I have met in Church may enjoy the Scriptures but to love it means sacrifice and that flies in the face of much of the materialism even a majority of the women in Church are looking for. To be honest, it got so disgusting, I stopped dating over a year ago.

@MrNickKane Some Christians distance themselves from the world so much that they lose their masculinity to a degree. We're supposed to work with our hands, and be men, not be "in love" with God but love him through our actions. We were not equipped with muscles for no reason.
