Man, this is some really great playing. I aspire to play at this level. This seems to be a sort of "time no changes" kind of thing, how did you practice constructing your lines for a tune like this? Is it like a Tim Hagans free play kind of thing or is it more structured? Again, beautiful playing. Thanks,
Craig, we have a form and changes for all these tunes but then most often we do end up in a "time no changes" type thing. Though the rhythmic structures and harmonic implications are always used as reference for development, those are the ideas I use to develop my lines. I guess it's like the way W. Shorter's group plays, stemming from Miles etc in late 60's really. Thanks for your comment too. Scott.
