The first time I grew up mentally and listened to this song around 1980 or so during the Wall, I immediately inherited the best song I had ever or frankly have heard in my lifetime. Feeling is the most important character of a song and here PF can not be surpassed
The first time I listened to "Echoes" back in 1971 I thought it was a masterpiece and after 40 years I still fell the same. Never has a piece of music filled me with so much joy, bewilderment, sorrow, love, wonderment and melancholy.
LSD is gods gift to mankind why do you think it has been called the tears of the angels i have PTSD i have nightmares panic attacks real bad depression from the memories i have to live with but when i took acid for the first time it was the most wonderful experiance and feeling of pure joy happiness and love i have ever felt i had no worries or anything it really help me by opening my mind and easing my pain i felt its like you go back childhood and experiance the happiness times of your life
at a time when i thought i had nothing to live for anymore waking up to listen to floyd everyday was more than enough reason to carry on....antibiotics for the soul...
hahaha lsd?yeah good at the time but not so good on the way down when you just want to unload a full mag into everyone else..or was that just my thinking?hahahahaha!hey good job ak-47s are not easy to buy....great track though!
None of these bands claiming to be the new pink floyd will ever grasp the ability to make this kind of music. There is and will only ever be one pink floyd.
LSD isn't a killing drug at all, it's only potentially dangerous if you have a latent mental disability, or if you have a family history of schizophrenia or things of the like, otherwise it's completely harmless. In fact, the father and discoverer of LSD, Mr. Albert Hoffman, did quite a bit of LSD in his life time and lived a fruitful life as a scientist, not to mention he lived to be over 100 years old, which could be some proof linking longevity and LSD. I'm not condoning LSD but stay educated
@digitusmedio Some amazing things have come from LSD as well, a prime example being the double helix structure. When it first came out they actually recommended it to people
@carbot11 Interesting, I didn't know that about the double helix structure.
That's also very true, they in fact prescribed LSD in extremely small amounts to schizophrenic patients, and it would make them temporarily sane, or so I've read. Not to mention acid king Timothy Leary, who was always urging people throughout the 1960's to turn on, tune in, and drop out, primarily by LSD.
I honestly feel Echoes as a whole deserves more notice. Hell, the album, Meddle, deserves more notice period. Meddle seems to be very underrated for how good it is.
I'm a musicholic, my range is broad, rock, jazz, classical, country, blues, hybrids, etc.....but this song, this part, has got to be my favorite piece ever.
@MrBl4ckY man, leave that lsd...live your life, don't destroy it. i'm realy serious... this song is good enough... it doesn't need any of these killing drugs...
@aikaterion Stop believing propaganda, all the shit you hear is bias. Acid when done in moderation opens up new doors, and lets you discover parts of yourself. Acid is one of the greatest experiences and can take you to a euphoric state. Its a beautiful thing. Its not a "killing drug" Me and all the people I've done it with for years are proof. If you read up on it, and have an experienced tripper with you, it will be amazing. Pink Floyd never sounds better than on acid.
@ItsNotColdEnough I agree, hate when people talk about acid like its a "killing drug" Lsd is amazing. It expands your mind and helps you think differently. Oh and its also non-toxic and has no potential of overdose. No addictive potential whatsoever. No scientific proof of harm attributed by the use of lsd in anyway. Hmmm, so how exactly is acid a ''killing drug'' @aikaterion?
@BeLikeWater123 Quite possibly? I don't think there's any arguing that this is their greatest musical effort. Only real contest is "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" in all its parts.
@nokturnal5647 Yes, this is Pink Floyd's greatest epic. Sadly, even classic rock stations now rarely play this song. The group Yes also composed many epic songs lasting over 20 minutes during the early-to-mid 1970's which are now rarely played, even on classic rock stations.
I would listen to this when my dad was recovering from a serious brain hemmorage in the hospital. He was a huge Floyd fan, like me and we listened to this together while he healed! thank you floyd and thank you for posting this.

Classic. This is my impression when I hear this masterpiece.

i remember listening to this for the 3rd time (in something like early 1973), with headphones on ... and a bit stoned ... before i'd figured out the lyrics at the end, and it hit me - this (ending) part (beginning around 1:30) is a musical impression of a sunrise! (the sun
Unfortunately, we can see that many don't like the middle part of the song. A little more than two thousand views for this, than part 2. Well, that's ok. This song is incredible, regardless.

i remember listening to this for the 3rd time (in something like early 1973), with headphones on ... and a bit stoned ... before i'd figured out the lyrics at the end, and it hit me - this (ending) part (beginning around 1:30) is a musical impression of a sunrise! (the sun
peeks over the horizon at about 3:56)
i always wanted to film the sunrise from Mt. Wilson (California) and set it to this music (with the twilight time-elapsed maybe 10x).

The best upload of that song on YouTube, definitely. Great sound quality, and all three parts are cut on the right places.
Good job! And what a great song!

Unfortunately, we can see that many don't like the middle part of the song. A little more than two thousand views for this, than part 2. Well, that's ok. This song is incredible, regardless.

Pure insanity, this remains one of the most beautiful art pieces the world has ever seen (I mean heard), unsurpassed to this day.

Is it only me, or in 4:54-4:58 it's "Cloudless everyGay you fall"? I know it sounds bad, but still i can hear it.
