  • how much money^

  • i wonder how money they get for ride a horse with a shinny armor

  • actually, it was a Tv drama series called Merlin with the mountain that's really a sleeping stone giant, not a film. this film is excalibur

  • The movie you are looking for is called " MERLIN "

  • @GVBiggs524 no that movie is called "Excalibur" and for that I am sure of because I just watched it.

  • The sword that can kill what is dead,

The blade so sharp it can blend through lead,

The sword of its legend that shall end all dread.

  • @GokzTT

I am looking for a movie featuring what I believe was Excalibur. In which some mage finds a sleeping stone giant in the land and asks him to hold the sword until someone worthy takes it from its grasp again. To which the giants laughs that he will hold it forever.

Would you by any chance know this movie?

  • @CrimsonRefractions

    I'm not sure sorry :)

  • Carl Orff : Carmina Burana

  • What call this song please?

  • PLEASE SOMEONE! What is this song! I watched this film as a child and this song haunts me to this day! I need it! I NEED IT!! o' please help

  • @jerikco1 O Fortuna, from Carmina Burana. It is the first and last track of this scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936. If you like classical music get this work. It is one of my all time favorite pieces of music and I recommend it to anyone who ever asks about it.

  • @jerikco1 O Fortuna by Carl Orff.

  • @jerikco1 O Fortuna by Carl Orff. the music you hear in the actual scene doesnt really exist anywhere else but in the film unfortunately.

  • @WhiteVoid99 I ALLWAY'S WONDERED WHO COMPOSED THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • FOOLS!

  • soul eater.....

  • With his vision and understanding of the source material, Imagine what Boorman could do with today`s technology and a much bigger budget? Still he`d need a new cast which would be a pity, As Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne and Helen Mirren would be hard to replace. And the guy who plays Lancelot here has passed away, Very saddening.

  • one element that makes this film brilliant is boorman's love of nature. he totally understood Merlin's pagan connection with earth and how it's vitality was linked to the King. i'm sort of glad this was made pre-CGI because CGI can make movie makers lazy. this film was made in the full splendor of wooded beauty.

  • @yarbles67 I agree. No other director could bring this or other legend to life as Boorman did. What a pity that fact is and I wish I'm horribly wrong:D

  • @yarbles67

I'd still like to know where the iguanas came from.

  • The only film of the 80s that I keep watching, masterpiece.

  • Dears, dont forget that movies relesed on the 80 's, it was a fantastic movie with great spécial effects. The soundtrack is one of the better of all time in film history.

A masterpiece into the masterpiece... kindly yours..

  • This scene. Excellent choice, and that movie has many excellent choices.

  • I always enjoy this amazing scene. There is no better movie about the

    King Aurthur Legend!

  • that movie was made in Ireland .

  • Every time I pass a fruit orchard in bloom, I think of this scene. :)

  • can anyone tell me the name of this song?

  • @murderouscult Carl Orff - O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

  • EXCALIBUR! EXCALIBUR! from the united king, im looking for her, im coming to CALIFORNIA!

  • wat is thew music i lovew it

  • So great!

  • if anyone is curious of the title of the score on this scene, it's called 'Fortune - Empress of the World - Orff by Carmina Burana.

    brilliant score. ;)

    @George7575

    thanks for the upload!

  • i remember this movie for this song and this march :) .

  • From all King Arthur movies I like this one most because it follows the story legend of King Arthur not the historical research of some historians in the past ten years. When this movie came out in 1981 most people didn´t know something about a possible historical existence of King Arthur they know just the legend told from medieval times. And besides all historical research there is still no 100% proof of his existence. So it is still the legend of Arthur and his knights fighting against evil.

  • One of the best sword movies of all time.

  • We RIDE!!!!!

  • @leopower7

I liked it very much when I was 20. Yes, it is very good, but may be old-fashioned for a young guy.

  • Awesome...wish they did a movie of the real Arthurian legend "The Quest of The Holy Grail" but modern sensitivities wont allow it.

  • Something very Japanese about this scene, the blossom bursting as Arthur rides to battle.Japanese warrior poets do like their blossom!

  • @SvenTviking Precisely....it has shades of "Ran" in it. Great observation!

  • great movie

  • I had really fond memories of this movie, but looking at this bit of footage, The King would have looked much more impressive riding off to battle with a bit more than a just dozen trusty followers, don't you think?

  • Man, I always get chills during this part of the film :)

  • whats the song name ? someone knows `??

  • @TheLordDUNKELHEIT O' Fortuna by Carl Orff. It'ss been used in so many movies but this scene is what I always think of whenever I hear it.

  • this remains my favourite medieval movie, thats funny it was made in 1981 and there are contenders but the movies that are better than this are only that way because they improved on this perfection

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing something about the acress who played the Lady of the Lake (or the woman who held the sword from the water, specifically) was the highest payed actor in the film. Something about a really expensive insurance policy.

  • So this is where that song came from.... I've heard it so many times.

  • @Spartanboy3000 "O Fortuna"

  • Ride ANTICHRIST, to battle !

    Armageddon is coming.

  • WHO LIKES GOAT PORN?

  • @tninbredretard no i dont like goat porn but i love pig porn hell yer lol

  • Modern CGI graphics would make it look better, but I still think it's amazingly cool when the trees change from the dead of winter to beautiful spring at 0:18.

  • Love the 0:48 shot where they just pour loads of petals in front of the camera : brilliant crap-making ! XD

  • The cast, setting, and acting is unsurpassed. None of the King Arthur movies before or since has even come close. You may see some spectacular special effects in a remake but nothing will seem as real as Boormans masterpiece.

  • @backintheday1 agreed

  • badass! still the willies as the Guild goes forth! I will lead someday soon..hail the knights prayer! -UW

  • Excaliber is an hero

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @TheProdiGiist carmina burana - carl orff (fortuna)

  • @1967tuncay Thnx i was wonderin the same thing as TheProdiGiist

  • Greatest Mooovie of all time!!!!

  • @scottdou1 I agree. This movie is my favorite.

  • GREAT! MAJESTIC!

  • Excaliber! Hooo!

  • EPIC!!! RIDE ARTHUR!!! RIDE!!!

  • its was said during the fall of rome. the sun of the last ceaser was sent to brit. and ruled

  • @519MT519 who was?

  • Excelente banda sonora y estupenda película

  • have question. This is supposedly during the dark ages, shortly after the fall of Rome and during the time before the rise of Islam.

Where did they get the horses?

  • @diddymuck Horses didn't suddenly come into existence with Islam, nor did they all disappear during the fall of Rome.

  • There can BE ONLY ONE great upload George7575

  • Best "King Arthur" and "Knight" Movie ever ! This movie is epic !

  • "Guards! Knights! Squires! Prepare for battle!!!!"

  • One of the best movie ever, good epic memories.

  • King Arthur & his Sarmatian (Iranian) Knights who were real people were transformed into the mythic Arthurian legends that took on a different look and feel that the real story had. The song that was used in this scene, which also made the song more popular with the new generation is called "THE CARMINA BURANA" by Carl Orff.

  • I think this film captures the true essence of the Arthurian Legend more than any other to date because it has more magic , is more mythic and has a more surreal feeling like dream. Also the film seems to be for the most part centered around Merlin, but has equally powerful performances by many of the other characters.

  • My favorite line after Arthur drank from the Chalice"I did not know how empty was my soul, till it was filled"!! That is a line so majestic, and perfect,it transcends everything else!

  • makes the hairs on my neck stand up everytime. Possibly the greatest scene in a film ever.

  • the first time i saw this scene the hair on the back of my neck stood up......and thirty years later....same thing. that's power !

  • Yeah-- punch in "o fortuna" and that will get you on the course to finding out the name if the song and other info about it.-- mike

  • does anyone know the name of the song????????

  • The best movie ever about king Arthur

  • @peanut1602 ...yet. I'm hoping someday they'll make one that tops even this, but I doubt it. King Arthur is going the way of Robin Hood, where film makers would rather "reimagine" the story than do a good update.

  • "The land and the king are one."

  • this movie need to come out in blue ray

  • magnifica scena. Grazie

  • The Carmina Burana is the work that this piece of music is from. This part is called O FORTUNA.

  • what song is that?

  • Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

  • Aunque esta copia tiene una calidad bastante baja, es sin duda una de las mejores escenas de la gran película del

    Merlín y Arturo

  • Probably the best scene in this fantastic movie.

  • the armor could well have been the steel in a modern battletank, Kursk comes to mind

  • amazing scene from an amazing film

  • totally epic, o fortuna is fit for this cavalry running

  • whats the name of the song

  • carmina burana

  • I love this part of the film

  • Comment removed

  • i always thought this was too of a low key scene for such an epic song.

  • This scene is supposed to illustrate the underlying truth of the Arthur character and by extension the masculine god hero of ancient britain as consort to a feminine counterpart...namely, "the land and the king are one"...in other words it deserves the music lol.

  • @lowenklee wow really I thought it was an excellent scene for such an epic song...

  • @marcangel79

I agree wholeheartedly, for me the only other scene that rivals it for beauty and poignancy is the very last shot...the god hero ferried off to avalon by the holy feminine trinity.

It leaves me speechless everytime, I'd kill to have a high def still of that shot! Sadly the original prints of this film are in a tragic shape.

  • @lowenklee Great observation. You're right. It didn't occur to me that the land, being feminine was his ultimate counterpart. I'd guess you're read-up on your mythology and themes!!!

  • @lowenklee And that the land is 're-born', as Arthur is basically re-born. Still gives me goosebumps, has since I was 10!

  • @reeseman67 Same :)

  • nice go all to crimevalley and join our faction Camerlot, we are the biggest faction :)

  • what is the name of this song?

  • O Fortuna

  • Quel Chef-d'oeuvre.

    What a masterpiece.

  • When will you women give your heels up? They make you look stupid. In a million years evolution will not grow them.Even watching porn I do not get it. Legs are sexy but naked apart from heels is stupid. If aliens exist 2 reasons why they won't touch us is we mess with our own species as well as every other species and half of our species walk around on stilts?

  • Anyone got the lyrics to this song

  • this was filmed in New York

  • LOL no it wasn't It was filmed all over Ireland. Co. Kerry, Tipperary and Wicklow!

  • Yes, in Manhattan !!!

  • i absolutly love this film especially this scene!!!

  • "O Fortuna" del "Carmina Burana" de Carl Orff

  • me podrias decir el titulo y el autor de esta cancion??ç

    gracias...

  • Helen Mirren is one sexy witch in this movie.

  • What bothers me most about this movie is how every single knight wears 15th century full jousting armor, even when fighting on foot. King Arthur was alive in the 6-7th century. No one back then could make plate armor like that. They would have all been wearing mostly leather, except for the kings and lords and wealthy knights, who would probably have chain mail or scale mail armor.

  • The movie is based on Morte d'Arthur, which was written my Sir Thomas Mallory during the aforementioned time period. The armor is consistent with the contemporary Arthurian romances of Mallory's time.

  • Well I guess that makes sense then.

  • Yes, this is a more romanticized version of the Arthurian legend. The newer King Arthur is a good juxtoposition of what the real Arthur (if he in fact existed) would have been like.

  • While you are absolutely correct, remember, there is also magic, a pair of wizards, and a sword with magical powers in this movie.

As Lucy Lawless once said, when you see a mistake like that, "a wizard did it."

  • esta pelicula esta hecha por alguien mistico, tiene todo el conocimiento de la magia y la alquimia, veanla tratando de descifrar su simbolismo mas que la historia en si misma

  • If they are remaking this, this scene would be a good opportunity to exploit today's SFX. The land bursts into bloom.

  • Saw this movie being made when i was a kid on holidays in co wicklow. my aunts house in bray was just across from ardmore studios and i will always remember the set had a huge silver castle wall. Bryan singer is supposed to be remaking it, original is a fkg classic though.

  • He is? Wow--well I'd always hoped they'd remake it, somehow without screwing it up like they do most remakes. Yes, this was always the only version of the Arthur story in film that's ever worked for me. It had mojo. A lot of symbolism, and a lot of spiritual alchemy. Lucky you to have seen it filmed!

  • There's no way in today's movie world they could remake this movie with it's balance of realism and silliness (for lack of a better word) . It almost seems like it had two directors taking turns, one in the first half of the movie, and another in the second.

  • This Is THE film to watch

  • Beats Jerry's 'failboy' bruckheimers King arthur at every scene

  • @JTRLP load of bollocks

  • @whittenoval: you obviously dont know your movies. Jerry bruckheimer doesnt know shit about historical accuracy ( i didnt know the americans had destroyers with rocketlaunchers at pearl harbor., etc. ..)and is the ultimate hollywood whore: all action, a cheap story and the more explosions the merrier. All his movies after the death of Don Simpson (r.i.p) are that way.

Excalibur at least takes some basis from the legends of King Arthur.

  • I'd like to see the parts with the finding of the grail

  • I watched this movie when i was 8 years old. This will always be my number one all-time favorite movie. Love it to death! Especially this scene! Thank you so much for sharing! =)

  • You are lucky, I got booted out of the movie when I was around 11....(rated R ), but snuck back in to catch a few seconds of this screen.......must have great to see it on the big screen......some usher out there deprived me of that...oh well

  • Actually, i saw this movie on tv. :) I never get a chance to catch it on the big screen. And there were a lot of censors, they cut off certain scenes. When i was older i bought the dvd and saw the cut off scenes. Now i understand the movie better. :D So yeah, i guess the usher knew of some scenes and that's why they booted you out, coz they wanna watch the scenes by themselves. LOL XD! Kidding.... it's a really fantastic movie really. :)

  • goosebumps, everytime.

  • Ok i found the name... its O fortuna

  • Which is the first (also last or later) part of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana"

  • good work scooby!

  • No this is not flight of the valkyries.. i cant remember the name but its not that..

  • flight of the valkries is the tune the helicopter gunships have on when attacking a v.c. village in appocolypse now

  • fuck ya this movie is by far the best straight up heavy metal knights bad ass no movie captured the dungeouns and dragons players hearts like this 1 big sup 2 all tsr players

  • if you like this then try badenweiler march

  • flight of the Valkries...... and I agree.... this has to be the Ultimate King Arthur movie..... none other comes even CLOSE to this one......

  • They should use this song at sporting events because they never do.

  • They use it at the beginning of Titans Football games.

  • the best Arthur film ever, truly magical!...

  • what is the name of this piece of music?
