a little bit of info for you all... this song was attempted in the studio for a movie soundtrack (can't remember what movie, help me out someone) and radiohead did not like it so they scrapped. it. but in reality, even if this and LIFT did not meet up to radiohead's expectations, the fans love them dearly.
Such an amazing song... says a lot about how good Radiohead are if it wasn't even released. I just did a cover of it using a loopstation, it's on my channel... check it out if you're interested :)
@Jackwearing If you watch their documentary "Meeting People Is Easy", which was recorded post-Ok Computer release, you'll find them trying (and apparently failing) to record the song. Then a super early version of Nude at the end.
how good are radiohead tho. 1 of thier very finest songs and it only exists as a dodgy live recording from a euro cable chanel of the 90's. would any. ANY other peer of the band have let this languish? not a fuckin chance. why does not they release it? Who care look at what they are releasing? you stole it off. give it back. can't fuckin wait 2 CCCCCCCCCCCC this band again. they can do what they want and they do. what they want
@jirdimaster yeah, this was a rumor i'd heard. but sings are pointing to their being 2 king of limbs, as you pay $14 usd for 8 songs, when you usually pay 1 usd per song. also, when you download king of limbs, it says TKOL1. so im hoping for a double album. mostly cause i got the newspaper album.
@SuperiFox Coming from the "future", that is a no...although I guess we can't rule out it being on a bonus disc. It doesn't really fit with the feel of "King of Limbs" though, at all.
i hope that when radiohead releases this song on their new album(if they do), it sounds like the version on "meeting people is easy" fukin love this songggg
its on towering above the rest it has been released just not as a part of an actual album towering above the rest is a mash up of mixes previously unreleased and early versions of their songs
they sometimes change song into very different ones. Radiohead could make gold out of shit....not to say that this song is shit, i like it...but you know....
@Deoxysdog, yeah, but if a song's spirit doesn't fit anywhere within the frame of an album's concerns/ spirit, it shouldn't be on the album. If In Rainbows actually had a focus, I can imagine Nude would have been out, as Nude really didn't have a place in most mindsets. But some sort of angry or political album could probably have room for this. I, too, don't want to see it on the next album, but only if it truly doesn't belong.
the only problem i have with radiohead is that they try to do too much in the studio. this song would be so good stripped down, but they wanna do orchestra and god knows what else and it weighs down these type of songs that are so brutally raw.
ya know how muse ends up sounding like they wanna be radiohead all the time? this is one song where i do believe it sounds like it could be a muse song...still excellent though!
they were never happy with it.. they tried to record it and couldn't get it right :( i love it the way it is here, but if they didn't like it, fair enough..
I don't think they're gonna be releasing albums anymore, check out some of the more recent interviews, it sounds like they're just gonna do online releases and EPs.
Oh man u haven't been keeping up with current events, wall of ice was what everybody thought the EP was gonna be called for these are my twisted words which never happened.
@united22 This is certainly above "generic" but you're right that it doesn't fit with the direction they're going...I don't even think it would have fit on "The Bends" (the album it's closest to in style).
In the documentary, "Meeting People is Easy" there is a scene of the band in studio recording this song.

Someone should use this as a base and make a "cover" of it... that sounds exactly the same, but in a studio.

We ended up getting Big Ideas and Last Flowers so there's still hope for this, right? One day, one day...

Actually I think the demo version is just so so much better than this.. It's kinda crappy compared to the demo version in my opinion.

For all who don't know, Ed O'Brien is (supposedly) responsible for the instrumentals in this song.
