This video is totally misguiding, it pretends that : the main question if a firearm can shot continously or it cant. This is stupid, an AK47 can be set as automatic or semi-automatic also (there is a lever on its side) and its still deadly as semi-automatic, because of piercing capability, and that comes from ammo not the gun, and able to pierce almost any personal shot-proof jackets. It must be restricted and who cares if its only semi-automatic. This is stupid.

Actually, all three were part of the very large AK family. There was the AKMS, (full auto) AK47 (semi-auto military, uh, lookalike) and the hunting rifle I'm unsure about, but I think it's a Radom Hunter.
The semi-auto and full auto action refers to interior parts and mechanisms, strict civilian-only semi-auto weapons can be converted to full-auto with varying difficulty. Unless you have a pretty good knowledge of machining, you're going to be unable to do so.

Yes, there was a ban on new production in 1986 and all NEW MGs must be for police and gov't dept's only. There are still close to 400,000 "transferable" MGs in the US that can be bought and sold by civilians. The prices are high. The cheapest ones (MAC 10) are around $3k, a transferable AK-47 is over $10k. There is no class 3 permit, just a form & a tax, you file a form, have a background check, and pay a $200 tax. With a clean record the transfer is approved and you get your MG.

@telelaci2 In defense from government. The mere ownership of arms would secure human rights. As far as "assault weapons" being designed merely to kill people, you are just being bloody stupid. All that makes an "assault weapon" is a cosmetic feature. In some cases (like pistol grips and folding/telescoping stocks), they are ergonomically useful. Virtually everything else serves 0 military purpose to the gun.

I explained everything to you: Pistol grips (target for gunphobes) are an ergonomic feature allowing for a more natural grip position and a more accurate in-line stock design. Folding/telescoping stocks can be good for a number of things including ergonomics and storage. However, if a bad dude wanted to hide a gun, he would just saw the stock off. Everything else is entirely nonfunctional and just cool.

It seems to me that you just don't understand what was banned. I will name what was banned for rifles: pistol grip, folding/telescoping stock, rifle end grenade launcher (WWI style, grenades are not available), bayonet lug (why?), flash hider (dampens flash from shooters perspective). All visually menacing to stupid people (like you), none actually make the gun any deadlier. As far as making people want to wage battle on their front lawn, GTFO of here.

Actually, all three were part of the very large AK family. There was the AKMS, (full auto) AK47 (semi-auto military, uh, lookalike) and the hunting rifle I'm unsure about, but I think it's a Radom Hunter.
The semi-auto and full auto action refers to interior parts and mechanisms, strict civilian-only semi-auto weapons can be converted to full-auto with varying difficulty. Unless you have a pretty good knowledge of machining, you're going to be unable to do so.
Cosmetically differences, though.

Great video. If every voter saw this video, they'd think again about supporting such a ban. Brings out the facts, which is exactly what every citizen needs. I'm surprised that they didn't bring up the statistics that show they (the "assualt weapons") are rarely used in crime.

The word "Assault" doesnt mean that semi-auto riffles are especially or specifically built for commiting crimes or assaults. Right now there is a new "Assault Weapons" Ban proposal in the hands of the Supreme Court for review since summer 2008. We must hurry and educate this law makers before is too late and they approve a new ban. We must prevent a new ban and not wait for a new ban to be in effect to then try to eliminate it. NRA and civilians must stop them from renewing a new ban now.

I'd have to disagree with you on a few things mvtco. They are not purchased every day and it takes more than a background check. If you wish for me to back up my comments I'm am quite familiar with the NFA'34, GCA'68, Hughes Amend. of the FOPA'86, and many other firearm laws.

He tries to clear up misinformation, but has his facts wrong. Full-auto firearms are legal and are bought and sold every day, not just for Law Enforcement. New ones cannot be manufactured, but existing full-auto guns are legal to purchase after a detailed background check. This guy is supposed to be telling us the truth, but doesn't even know the laws

thats ture but in 1986 a belive there was a band on production of full auto firearms and to obtain a full auto firearm now you need a class 3 permit witch very hard to obtain with out a backround in law enforcemnet

Yes, there was a ban on new production in 1986 and all NEW MGs must be for police and gov't dept's only. There are still close to 400,000 "transferable" MGs in the US that can be bought and sold by civilians. The prices are high. The cheapest ones (MAC 10) are around $3k, a transferable AK-47 is over $10k. There is no class 3 permit, just a form & a tax, you file a form, have a background check, and pay a $200 tax. With a clean record the transfer is approved and you get your MG.
