Ron Paul speaks about the people who come to his events as if they represent the majority. The 2008 elections show this to be false. The Repub. party is well aware of the threat that Ron Paul posses to the party. The Demo. saw it Al Gore. It fractured the party between leftist liberals and centrist democrats. Ironically, "conservatism", at least any degree of rational conservatism, died with Buckley (perhaps Goldwater), decades BEFORE "conservatives" came to power (Reagan 1980).
For all his detractors, & a fair % of loonies & "blind" supporters (like ANYBODY I might add), I do give Ron Paul credit for acknowledging DECADES ago (DURING Reagan's presidency) that the country did NOT need more "Reagan-styled" conservatism. I think the American Government needs to shit or get off the pot.
Either we need to continue to become more of a central government and make the state lines mean little-to-nothing (and rename us to 'the federation of America')
Or we need to get back to constitutionalism, small federal government and much stronger (and thus widely diverse) state governments.
Either way debt is unacceptable.

Ron Paul doesn't support a pure gold standard. He supports both gold and silver which would be a lot better than a pure gold standard. However, I don't agree on his monetary policy. Despite this, I still think people should vote for him because he is against government debt, against high taxes, against big government, against corporatism, and against imperialism and war.

Ron Paul gets applause for consistently voting constitutionally and not selling out to special interest. Look at Operation Ajax in Iran, to providing weapons to Iraq. Consider the current situation with military bases in 100+ nations, it is safe to close bases without closing the military. Ron Paul speaks about the people who come to his events as if they represent the majority. The 2008 elections show this to be false. The Repub. party is well aware of the threat that Ron Paul posses to the party. The Demo. saw it Al Gore. It fractured the party between leftist liberals and centrist democrats.
