You have to go to the terminal type in xfce-setting-show then a window will come up go on the desktop settings -at the bottom you'll find a place to enter a file!

Thanks for the tutorial! Worked for me :) except that after I opened it through the desktop, it made an error message that it cant open "U%" file. I figured that I can edit the commands on properties if I'm logged on root and not user (but then I dont know how to change users).

One question: I see you installed a Bittorrent Client (and other applications). Where do you get it? Looked over and tried some Linux versions but not for Linpus. Thanks again. :)

I noticed you have VLC Player installed. How did you do it? I tried to follow the instructions in the VLC site for Fedora 8 and it prompted me to download 26Megs of dependency upgrade. I hesitated because I feared this might break the Linpus system.

I just installed VLC for Fedora 6. It worked fine for me and yes I also had to download all the dependency files. Don't live in fear, Linpus is here!

just a quick note- the ".desktop" file isn't always the name of the app plus ".desktop". I installed abiword and the desktop file wasn't "abiword.desktop"- it was actually fedora-abiword.desktop. You'll need to do a search for ".desktop" files and find your particular one.

I booted from the DVD and got exactly what you got except all that it displayed was the Sandisk USB Key which was fine but then it proceeded to supersede that and pick the IDE Secondary Hard drive eventhough it wasn't visible as a selection..

Hi Guys

When i went to create a USB Recovery disk it erased the data on my secondary IDE hard drive on my main PC instead of the plugged-in USB Flash DRive that it said it was picking to do the disk creation on.

I have now lost all my 60GB of data that IDE drive. I also tried to it a second time once i had re-initialised the drive and it re-formatted it again eventhough it specifically says that it is picking the USB Flash DRive.

Did you boot with the Disk in the DVD player? My system booted from the CD-Rom and presented me with options including the Recovery USB stick exercise. When I clicked on Next I got a list of all devices on my system including the HDDs (I've got 2) plus 3 USB sticks and an SD card. I selected the 2Gb USB stick, and it installed the recovery files on it. I checked it with the Acer One and it worked fine. If you run the DVD AFTER you boot the machine then you might get unexpected results. HTH

Thanks ;) I think my fan preduces more noise than your's :( maybe it's europe models or some of the first models, bacause in your video all I hear is airflow, and in my case I hear a bee like noise coming mainly from the center of the keyboard (I think it's PWM on the motor coils).

the fan is where that circle thing is on the bottom, so it makes sense that the noise is coming from the center of the keyboard. you are right, i dont actually hear the fan, just air. unless i turn it so that it is vertical, then it buzzes a little. also, if its on a table, you can hear it better, i usually put it on my lap so maybe it absorbs some sound?

I don't think you have to restart the computer, it could be more convenient to press ctrl+alt+backspace to restart the graphical environment (unless they have disabled that)

hehe. it is pretty good, price for performance and aesthetics/portability. I'm a multi-tasking freak, I always have a bajillion programs open, at least 8 tabs in firefox...etc. but the aspire one is pretty good at handling me ;-)
