  • Twist outs don't really work on me either. My hair is similar to yours, though not as thick and voluminous. I think this suits you, though.

  • LOL

  • You should retry with eco styler on top of a good leave in and set the ends with perm rods :)

  • You should try komaza's intense moisture therapy deep conditioner! pH is 4.5!!! It's reallyyyyy good!

  • hey, since you like to use natural products you should try LUSH Jasmine and Henna Fluff Eaze, I just tried this product the other day and LOVE it!!!

  • Carol's Daughter Hair Milk does not work for my hair at all either! I was so disappointed when it first came out :(

  • you should try to do a twist out on wet hair. my hair is close to yours i try on dry hair and it just doesnt come out right, but wet hair looks great

  • I dont know if you have looked at the channel SalonCabelo before, but she has a texture similar to yours and she has a video with a twist out done with flat twists. I find flat twists works for those who the two strand twist out does not work for. Just a suggestion!

  • i dont have good twist outs either

  • yeah I love that you are going to be on Naturally Curly!

  • I actually like the way your hair turned out. Hope u feel better, and look forward to u trying out all the products.

  • Yayy, congrats Taren!

  • What lipstick are you wearing? luvs it!!!

  • my hair doesn't like twist outs either. :-(

  • Said it before and will say it again- flexi-rods! You know we have such similar hair and that gives me volume, shape and cute style while helping the ends to look like something (that something not being "lifeless," lol).

  • I didn't like twist outs either until I started twisting on damp not soaking wet hair. I also set my twists on perms rods aka curlynikki's imfamous twist n curl. That's my style for the winter because like so many other naturals I have various textures and some straight pieces. Twist outs give me a uniform pattern.

  • have you tried curly nikki's twist and curl... that may work better for your texture her's is a looser texture too.

  • hey taren, congratulations on beening a part of the naturallycurly looking foward to seening more natural hair videos , that is so great that you get to try lots o different products, cant wait to hear your reviews on them :)

  • love your lip color!

  • it just makes your hair feel really soft and manageable huh? the nerve of them lol!

  • When you to your twists, wrap it around like you should a bantu knot.

  • I loved the twist out look!

  • have u tried it on wet hair? I have a looser curl pattern in most of my hair and it works when i twist right after i wash it. But i leave the twists in for at least a whole day so i can gurantee that it'll be dry. Then I have a wavy do :)

  • Well you tried that's all that matters.

  • Yay! I am signed up on naturallycurly. Can't wait to see your reviews.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and that you are feeling better :)

  • Your twist out is cute but would be great if some type of rollers were used on the ends.

  • Ordered the Steamer already, Just waiting for it to come hopefully before New Years Eve. Thank you so much for the review on it. I'll try to do one myself.

  • I say try the twist-n-curl like curlynikki :)

  • If you try the samples and don't like the products, can you do a "giveaway"? I would love to try to win some of the products. It may work for me or others.

  • Koils by Nature!!! Thank you for trying my products!

  • Merry Christmas ... So you are dealing with your hair on Christmas... I looked at your earlier videos when your hair had more defined curls. I say when you find what works stick with it. I have never used safflower oil but in your videos your hair looked good. Some products are so expensive and I will not pay 15 on an 8oz bottle of Shampoo. You are natrual, but I will buy head and shoulders then buy the largest bottle of a good conditioner Aura ( sally beauty) Then Deva Curl One for styling...

  • Do you think you would like it better if you curled the ends to get your big fro???

  • i think if u loosely pull back the top half of your hair it would look fab!

you have a nice wave going on there

  • Okay, I thought it was just my hair but I see all the videos where ppl have BEAUTIFUL twist outs but mines even wet, I cannot get a good twist out. My hair is too soft or something.

  • I love the twistout girl!!!

  • Yea.. I think twist outs aren't really consistent with our texture of hair. Did a twist out on my sister and it came out like yours. I tried a twist out for xmas and it came out great but in the past it was no bueno! I think braid outs work out better for me for some reason.

  • @sweeteababy0427 yeah i want to try a braid out. i had an AMAZING twist out last week. I re did my hair and it did not turn out the same. funny thing is i wasn't trying a twist out when i twisted my hair. i was playing around and didn't like the twists so i did a twist out. this time i was AIMING for an awesome twist out and got an 'eh' hair style. What gives! lol

  • Glad you like it!!!! Having another one soon!!!!

  • if youdont want the sample of jane carter for tightly curled hair send it my way. I wanna try it. or let us know how it turns out. I personally didnt like the carol's daughter hair milk did not define my curls offered softness but that was it ... LOL

  • if youdont want the sample of jane carter for tightly curled hair send it my way. I wanna try it.... LOL

  • merry christmas taren!!!!!!!

  • hey Taren, that Pantene hair mask works GREAT as a detangler. i mean, like when you feel as if nothing can cut through tangles, that mask works wonders. use it as a co-wash, no heat. just put it on at the beginning of a shower, let it sit for 5-10 minutes and the tangles melt away.

  • i like it, just style it up

  • So you're only a product junkie if you're purchasing a lot of products to use versus using a lot of free products? LOL

  • @adore1908 LOL!! I guess! Well product junkies always seem to have an itch to scratch and CAN'T resist BUYING NEW products to try or staying out of the hair stores.. Lol...

  • @taren916 i am one of those lol! :)

  • feel better taren!

  • Taren my sister's hair is very similiar to yours. The only way she gets twistouts to work is on dry hair and leaving the twists in for at least 3 days of more. Eco Styler also helps her twistouts. Knowing you leaving them in that long won't work.

  • Hey Taren, my hair is much tighter than yours and the only purpose of doing twistouts/braidouts for me is to 'reduce' the volume of my hair and elongate it so that I can do more updo's, buns, other styles that can't be done on a round afro. FYI, you could totally style that twisout into a cute loose bun or boho updo :] For your texture, maybe see KiffeeCoco's video on her twistouts. I think you both are around the same texture and she has a separating/afro pic method that gives volume. Luck!

  • lol that was the title of one of my videos back when I first tried it. your turned out better than mine trust me. :)

  • what lipcololr is that you are wearing? it is very pretty!

  • hey you should really try the "its a ten" miracle mask...they sell it at the salon i work at and i LOVE it!!!!!

  • Love the makeup and the dark lip!! Koils by Nature was created by Pamela Jenkins (not prettydimples). I have used (KbN) hair butter and love it! =o)

  • @dasa0514 Thanks for the correction! I have to correct that OMG! LOL

  • I think your hair looks cute :)

  • i really think you shoul try curl formers ! i'm not sure if you have before but i think the result of them would look great on you and your hair would be so voluminous ! what do you think ?! :)

  • U shuld use rod set the ends for more volume

  • Love the lipstick! =D

  • Random twists or braids doesn't work on my hair either. I do 4 or 5 flat twists or braids (like a french braid) on damp hair. I put a satin covered roller on the ends, and that's the only way i can do braidouts or twistouts without looking crazy!

  • Too funny I did the same thing to my hair, and it came out flat and stringy no body or fullness, till day 3.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't see what the problem is. It looks like it might be a lil more defined on the right but that's probably just the light that's shining in on the left. . . but i like big, wild hair :P

  • i like it

  • i agree with the fail. but your fab lip color is at the forefront anyway. :)

  • Yeah it looks healthy but I don't like the result too much myself. How come you twist your hair on dry hair? You may get better results twisting your hair wet. It's cool though. You're still fancy (:

  • @theatrefilmgirl Thanks :-) But I tried doing it on wet hair for my very first twist out and it's even more of a fail... My texture isn't tight enough for this tyle... When it's done on wet hair, it comes out REALLY flat and it just looks weird.. Lol

  • @taren916 - i was just going to suggest the same thing- probably you should try flat twists and curlers on the ends.

  • BTW,...hubby bought me a steamer for christmas.. im so happy! turns out he heard me say i wanted one while watching your review! Im so washing my hair right now!

  • It looks healthy and wild.. which is super sexy at times.. i dont think its a fail.. !lol.. keep up the good work! love your vids!

  • That would be cute if you put it into a low side bun - buns r cute when hair is textured...

  • @MawiyahJ Love that idea.. Thanks! :-)

  • I agree taren total fail. I love ya girl, but I keeps it real. You sorta look like ya just woke up. But who cares your naturally beautiful :)

  • it happens

  • I don't think it is that much of a fail. Perhaps twists set in a bantu knot might give you the look you want. A little rounder, and a little bit more volume. Murrr Christmus!

  • Taren, you're insane. Your hair actually looks great IMHO. Happy Holidays, love :-)

  • Hey Taren i just wanted to know do you trim your own hair, if you do will you do a video showing how you do it

  • I've already tested the phytospecific mask when I relaxed my hair and retried it 4 months ago after having stopped relaxing my hair. I don't know what to add except that the last time I tried it, it failed. I am a 3C type of hair which is very thin, with some parts which are neither 3C nor 4A or 4B (some parts very wavy and other parts very straight!!). My hairdresser told me that it's because my hair is too thin it didn't work so maybe. Hope it'll work with you Taren and have a good saturday.

  • wow I'm the first comment! I actually like your hair here ,it gives your hair a more controlled look I know you "sometimes" like every one in a blue moon lol :)
