  • 2:31. why does it have greek characters... im greek and i was just wondering

  • After watching Planetes,. a couple of years later NASA was taking about space trash as in the anime..... I wounder if they are going to send people up as in the anime

  • dub o.o ew!

  • One of the best Anime/Manga series ever. I have both Anime DVD Collection and English Manga!

Get a job and freaking get this, mates.

  • best sci-fi shit i ever watched, and i watched a lot, damn realism man. Unlike other flicks it manages to give me hope (coz i'm convinced we won't do shit in space even by 22 century) that at least this level of progress will kick in during my lifetime. Sad, when i was younger i had more confidence in humanity. Episode 25-26...was a surprise for me, i honestly didn't expect that conclusion (i was like "5$ that everyone dies. And humans sucks.").

  • Trash collecting has never looked cooler.

  • Is this greek????

That was a surprise... A nice surprise.

  • Realism is the key in this anime. There's no super high-tech warp drives, nope. No magic or some other mysterious power that we've somehow been able to harness. No myth or legends. No afterlife. When someone even mentions "God" just once, the person gets wacked on the head. It's all "down to Earth," but in space. Yet, it will just keep you gripping!..

Despite the science fiction setting, this is a true drama. Heroes or villains don't exist except in all the character's psyches.

    A must watch!!

  • Yeah the trailer doesn't live up to what the series really is and becomes. From watch thing characters growing into there own or seeing how realistic it is and based on true science. Especially how its actually starting to relate to today's problems with economy and how space debris WILL be a real job in the future someone needs to remove all that junk you cant ignore it.

  • just finished watching it, it's a great anime, a must watch guys

  • by far the best anime i have ever seen

  • it's an awesome anime to watch, i just saw 10th episode and every episode has to give you different feeling. You feel for human emotions.

You also have to watch monster

  • @xXZvangelisZXx Monster is the best anime I*ve ever seen

  • I actually like the english dub

  • @xMostExcellentx Same....don't know why people hate it. It's one of the better dubs around.

  • YOUR videos?

  • @elementc Okay, videos that I uploaded. Obviously I don't claim any ownership for the trailer and credit Bandai for the making of the trailer and the PlanetES dub. If you have a problem with me giving credit where credit is due, supporting a great anime series, and not tolerating racism and trolls, then just flag the video and be done with it. Otherwise, go troll someone else.

  • This anime is total win :)

  • Y'know, when I first heard about this show, I was a bit skeptical of a show about space garbagemen being interesting. I am 8 episodes in and I am so glad I ignored those doubts.

  • i prefer the manga

  • please watch english subs, not dubs...aiyaaaa. :/ Japanese audio is waaay better.

  • terrorism in the space will happen.

  • @flamingtroll isn't that what all anime are made for? i don't think a director is going to say "hey lets make a anime for free"

  • @rytiggy He clearly indicated that he thought planetes was better but less profitable than Code Geass, that's the trade off.

  • So, it's like Wall-E.... but with people, and they talk?

  • good animu, but not as serious and good as the manga

all in all this is the best... beats the top 5 animu in terms to story and atmosphere

  • I will have to watch this one.. Just finished Baccono (its about imortal mobsters. Its very good)

  • best anime i ever watched

  • I COPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BEST ANIME! BEST DUBBED SERIES! THIS IS THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!

  • is this a movie or series?

  • @taigajewel series

  • Normally I ONLY watch anime with Japanese audio and Eng subs due to the English audio on all other anime Ive watched (and thats 100+ shows) being shit. However I have to say the VAs here are doing a great job, you can tell they have really gotten into the part and are really bringing out the emotion in their lines which is usually where Eng VAs fail badly. Until now the only other show/movie I consider good in English is Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, hope to hear more good VA like this

  • how have i never heard of this until reading some random blog about patlabor? @gilroy, the dubs don't sound too bad. compared to the patlabor tv series dub, it sounds like a huuuuge step forward (the worst dub was for noa's character. just annoying and emotionless imo).

  • Odd trailer. It really only covers things in episodes 1 and 2. :p

  • The English Dub is amazing. Fuck you weeaboos.

  • @JaHaskins12 Totally agreed!

  • @JaHaskins12 Agreed, and 99% if them cant even speak japanese so they dont even know when the jdub is actually bad.

  • @JaHaskins12 Agreed. Debris Section is made up of two Americans, a Russian, an Indian and two Japanese. The one language they all have in common would be English, not Japanese.

  • @JaHaskins12 Agreed. I can't see what's with all the dub hate. Often dubs are fine. Each to their own. I don't shove my preferences down THEIR throats, so I'm tired of weeaboos constantly whining about subbed versions being better than dubbed.

I'd partially accept their criticism if the dub is bad. The Planetes dub was very well done.

  • Hmm.. Apolo 6?

  • An entire serious based on cleaning up space trash....wow. That's like taking Lord of the Rings and making it about Hobbits who plant seeds and grow flowers. But I'll try not to judge too much..........I'll give the anime a chance.

  • @Timohept

    Woo! Well said!

  • was that faye valentine i just heard?! i'm going to watch this RIGHT NOW! i love wendee lee!

  • hola...sabes por dondee puedo ver este animee..es muii lindoo..graciiaz

  • I just finished watching this series back to back and OMG, It cant end here I must know more!

  • this is a really good show i'm watching it right after i finished Birdy The Mighty

  • A great masterpiece of Sci-fi anime!

  • I'd buy the DVD and watch it in Japanese... the dub is just flat out HORRIBLE.

  • amazing anime based on a legendary manga series.

gives me the goosebumps even when thinking about it.

A perfect companion piece with another amazing ass manga series, 'Moonlight Mile'

  • Thanks "l1dl2dl3dl4d"! I will not watch this show now.

  • @l1dl2dl3dl4d I don't find it sad; I find it compelling and gripping. I don't invest myself into shows; but I'll be damned it this isn't atleast top 5 for me.

  • i am not goin to work in debri section!

  • The dub is a joke

  • i love the dub!

  • @rtardx you are being rasist you know. what does that even mean "whites are an overly aggressive and hostile race"? I simply said that i prefer the original form of everything not that white people are evil.

  • what can i say. I hate dubs. never liked them never will. The english language simply does not fit the body language and the facial expression of the japanese anime characters.

  • @cyberlord64 i can agree with you on that in some cases, but there are others when i prefer the english dubs. mainly because a lot of animes out there are based on western cultures and ethics so sometimes having an english dub of the series gives the series much more respect and feel to it than it does in japanese. i can never say japanese audio is always better cause all i do is read subtitles anyways so i can't understand their gestures in tune with their voice, it's just me reading jokes!

  • just read volume 1 of this manga. its pretty darn good!

  • @rtardx who are you referring to their fat section cheif, Philippe Myers? or possible some other random guy?

  • @5ilver42 I deleted the comments of and blocked the user "rtardx" due to obvious racism and trollism. Just in case you were wondering. I'm all for freedom of speech and I can even suffer some offensive language, but I have to draw the line in my videos at racism.

  • @gilroy oh, okay, fair enough.

  • This show is amazing, this trailer doesn't do it justice. While I am always in favor of original audio and subtitles I actually didn't mind the dub personally. Though I always find it odd when they talk about the JAPANESE language when speaking in ENGLISH.

  • whats the song called that starts at 1:20?

  • Hold on a second, so it's an anime about people cleaning up debris.....in space? yea, I'll pass

  • @shankems2000 not really. it's just the setting, if you've seen the show Firefly by joss wedon that would be what I'd compare it to.

  • this anime is fucking awesome, one of the best ever made for sure

  • DRINK ES WATCH PLANETES

  • Animation quality looks pretty strong, and I enjoy space. Can someone reply if this has enough action? any Deaths? or more drama oriented?

  • @WillBallForSoup Less action, more drama. If you are into real Sci-Fi then you'll like it.

  • Yet another example of anime is capable of........other examples: Samurai Champlo, Cowboy bebop, Ghost in the shell etc..

  • @qu3ter i really agree with you! anime is awesome (and the ones you named are fantastic ^_^)

  • A great great great Anime !!!

  • the dub was great,so much less work than the subs

  • @FakeThomas

u're right - the english syncro absolutely doesn't fit

the anime is nevertheless one of the best ever made. I love the story, the characters but I wished that hachimaki wouldn't go to the jupiter for 7 years. In my opinion, it would have been a better (and less sad) end if he stayed with tanabe.

  • windows on a passenger shuttle would be considered by most as a very serious design flaw lol

  • The American voice actors on this one suck...hard.

  • As an Orbiter player, that intro using Air in G made me grin.

  • @ScottZirpolo

    Haha.

    Same here, buddy.

  • I just bought volume one with hte first 4 episodes, bout to watch it here soon.

  • This trailer does not justify this anime. Neither do the American voice actors... Yet this is one of my favourite anime series I have ever seen. However, make sure you watch it with Japanese audio, it'll be much more emotional.

  • @eskimotaroXIII You can suck my dick that will be even more emotional.

  • @eskimotaroXIII

i thought the dub was perfect, The voice actors did an excellent job

  • This anime couldn't have been done any better.

  • Which is more than can be said about this preview. >_>

  • Sooooo cool

    *flies away*

  • @ShotgunHeroX Bitch, you are shit. Seriously I cant understand how you retards like to read when you are supposed to be watching the show, really you should take your corny ass to Japan or something, many animes have great dubs and sometimes better than the jap voices, take dbz for example all the characters in japanese sound like fucking girls. dipshit.

  • @6mastera9 Shows often get lost in translation. This doesn't apply to just japanese animes. Many foreign films just aren't the same when you translate them into english. Yes, there are some animes that have very good dubs. Sometimes however, you just don't get the same emotional emphasis with a translated voice. When watching anime subbed, you not only read the text, but see how it applies to the japanese voice actor. If you are fine with dubs great, I just prefer the subs.

  • voice of goku....

  • Best Sci-fi anime i've ever seen.

  • @MrRyuuk you obviously haven't seen code geass.

  • @rytiggy I've seen R1 and R2 and prefer Planetes. As cool as Code Geass was, it didn't leave a very positive message. But that's not the point. I can relate more with Planetes, which to me is more important than the "cool-ness" factor. Not to say that Code Geass was bad, I liked it very much, too. You might enjoy Eureka 7 also if you haven't already seen it.

  • @cpcrame ill have to check out eureka 7, but they are making a R3 which well be amazing to say the least.

  • @rytiggy is that true or only speculation? I've only done a quick search but it seems like all the talk about R3 is from 2009/ early 2010 and with a different story line/ alternate universe spinoff.

  • @rytiggy

Funny thing is even Goro Taniguchi is telling people not to watch Code Geass with the expectation from having seen Planetes. It's pretty obvious what the director himself thinks about the shows. He pretty much is saying that Code Geass was just made for profit.

  • @MrRyuuk best manga i've ever read

  • I'm long over due from buying this series. It's cool in that it's a space anime that you can actually believe happening in the future.

  • Very impressive. I'm actually shocked that the mangaka of the anime's manga was able to get it this far! Not that the mangaka's not good, I've seen some of their works, I just never thought that this would be one of their specialties.

    I'm both surprised and impressed.

  • were can i watch this, coz i tried everywhere youtube, megavideo even veoh i cant find it anywhere

  • Netflix has this.

  • try tehparadox(DOT)com

  • Go to Best Buy and buy it.

  • now that's getting screwed. An amazing manga and series. Everything about it is great and oddly plausible.

  • One of the best anime series I've ever seen. If you like scifi at all, then it is a must see.

  • I've never been one to push Subtitles over English Dubs, but man is the Dub horrible on this show.

It's an amazing experience, as long as you watch this in Japanese with English subtitles. I'm not exaggerating here. The English dub is groan-inducing.

  • wow that was so epic. It feels exactly like a movie trailer, you know?

  • this is a brilliant anime, completely original as well.

    love it

  • DEBRIS!

  • Where has the episodes gone........ I was upto no,20 and now it says the video has been removed by the user.

I can't find the DUB version anywhere now!

    Only had 6 eps left

  • I think they were removed for copyright..if you really must see them there is a dvd box you can buy.

  • This series is, without a doubt THE BEST series of all time! I love the main overall story arc, plus the episodes with their own individual stories. It also has excellent characterisation. Amazing setting (I wish I lived on ISP-V7 and worked on Toybox/DS-12 =( ). And it also has a great score, I love each piece of music as well..... and one more thing it made me love space, 10x more than I already did.

    Score: 10/10 (Best anything ever!!)

  • fully agree with you kuze12, very inspiring story. i just finished watching the series and as much as i hate to say it but - i think it's officially my favorite by FAR. and I've seen stuff like gungrave, berserk, FMA, etc... me taking engineering at a university - this anime had very accurate theory (like electrolizing H2O to produce oxygen) - I never knew that was how they created oxygen in space, but thats only one example. very educational is what im saying =P

  • Glad you liked it, as it's such an amazing series it deserves everyone to watch it. Plus its realism is what makes it that much better.

  • yes, it is very accurate. because i watched this i got A's on all my astronomy work at school :P

  • I love this so much!!

    Besides,Do you know that?

Protagonist of this anime "Hachirota Hoshino".

His Last name "Hoshino" is comparatively common in Japan.

and "Hoshino(星野)" means "Star Field" in Japanese. (^_^)

  • BTW, it's not really Planet ES, it's Planetes. It's Greek for Wanderers.

That's where the English word Planet comes from. Wandeers in the sky.

  • This is, without a doubt, the best "hard" sci fi show I've ever seen, animated or not. More true to life than, say, Star Trek, and certainly more than anything involving Giant Robots.

Yet it's still manages to be highly entertaining, both as a comedy, and later as a drama.

  • The most realistic sci-fi series ever.

  • best anime ever!

  • great anime, one of my favourites

(italian dubs are very good ghghgh)

  • for once, I actually found the english dub decent in this anime. Black Lagoon has the best eng dub. Oh, it is a crime to not put 'one of the greatest anime in history' in every post.

  • This is one of my favorites of all time.

If you haven't seen this one yet, WATCH IT! NAO!!

  • I want to watch this thing (english dub) but I can't find it anywhere. -.- torrents all dead and stuff..

  • just go buy the DVDs instead of stealing then

  • This anime is FANTASTIC. If you haven't watched it, I recommend it. It's actually been about three years since I've seen it, so I think I might rewatch it... it's up there among my favorites with Honey & Clover and Fullmetal Alchemist.

  • I've just joined the Hamilton College Anime Club and we've agreed that we're going to watch this anime all the through.

I've only seen the first episode and it looks pretty good so far.

  • what is the name of the classical song in the trailer?

  • it's Johann Sebastian Bach - Air 'On the G string'.

  • I love the manga. I bet this show would kick ass.

  • It does! The manga was one of my alltime favourites. The anime rocked my socks right off.

  • Whether you choose to experience the series dubbed or sutitled is truthfully just a matter of preference. Dubbing in the old days really was shoddy - I'm also old enough to remember. I know expressing disdain for dubbs is a quick way to appropriate fan "old school cred" but times have changed. It's a terrific series and yes, the english voice acting is entirely up to the task.

  • I don't think this type of reasonable, logical, open-minded commentary is appropriate for Youtube.

One of the pre-requisites for posting here seems to be adopting an extreme and uncompromising stance on all issues, and flaming those who disagree with you.

  • I seem to enjoy the dubbing of the older anime more so than the newer ones, in general I mean. Though if ADV does the dubbing, then I know it will be fantastic. The only problem is that with the popularity of anime nowadays, there are more dubbing companies doing their thing and most of em aren't up to scratch. Like for instance, when they use a female actor to do the voice of a young male character... that drives me bananas and I cant quite overlook it i.e. Magister Nagi Negima's English dub.

  • To be fair, that's plenty common in the original Japanese audio as well - but I do get what you're saying.

I look less nowadays at the company doing the dubs, than the actors themselves (since many aren't tied to one company).

Then you have cases like Blood+. The main roles (Crispin Freema and Kari Wahlgren) did FANTASTIC. the supporting cast was abysmal - enough that I can't watch it dubbed...and that's a shame. Guy named Michael Hack was the ADR director, unqualified for anime, ruins it.

  • great anime 5 stars

  • Great anime, but like pretty much every anime, the English dubs are... eh, not too great. Especially that of the protagonist.

  • Very, very good show.

de flamehiro mo chotto ARE dana. Un. ARE da.

  • i watched this last night. amazing. im goin to be an astronomer now for sure

  • Wow the dub sounds pretty good. I love PlanetES, pretty hilarious.

  • its dubbed?!?! really?? i still need to watch the last 2 episodes. >< can't. find. them.

  • kore omosiroiyo

  • omoshiroi, lol, take a real japanese class, kkthxbai

  • Actually, if you type si instead of shi into a computer it will come out し regardless.

このアニメは面白いよ。For all of you sick of giant robots lasers and pseudo serious politics of space - this is a good hardcore sci-fi that has lots of great characters and back stories. I highly recommend it.

  • I wish someone would upload some of the episodes. >_<

    ~Have a Nice day

  • buy the DVD

  • also, there's episodes 2-18 uploaded, but they're under the name "Planet ES"

  • great
