You can put in other fish ... just take out the oscar clean and rearrange the tank . add new fish and the oscar will think he is in a new place and will tollerate any new fish you have added ... I did this with a small feeder fish and he never ate him .. but any new feeder came in the tank he ate them up !

I used to have a mirror behind my oscar tank. They did the same thing for about 2 days then realised it was their refection and stopped - infact they seemed to enjoy seeing their refection. Funny thing is the 2 gouramis in the tank never stopped attacking their reflections.
