  • @squishy1127

im more peeved about the fact that they dont use a rod and reel rather than the fact that they keep the fish

  • spear fishing dicks... use a damn rod and reel and then release the fish

  • @14fishboy Dude, to each their own. these people eat the fish they spear. Whats wrong with that?

  • im suprised animal activists arnt all over this you can blatently see its alot more cruel then hook and bait fishing

  • that shit is garbage use a rod bitch fuck the michigan dnr

  • For all the people who think spearing sturgeon on Black Lake is wrong you need to understand this, the Michigan DNR counts the sturgeon every spring as they go upriver to spawn. They know approximately how many sturgeon are in the lake. The spearing season limit is based on the known population. Once the limit is reached the season is shut down. Sometimes the season only last 1 day. On a typical year the limit is less than 10, last year it was 5 and yes sturgeon is excellent table fare.

  • why no rod n reel?? spearfishing is for PUSSYS!!

  • @ptango666 its alot more badass than regular fishing.... i have never spearfished before and i am always fly fishing or going out deep... spearfishing is on my bucketlists since it so awesome

  • @Octogator8 disagree...

  • That was the worst fish I ever eat....

  • did he really have to pitchfork that sturgeon

  • animali . non si ammazzano i pesci

  • why do almost all american kill the fish they catch? i love catch and release... picture and let the beautiful beast go again...

  • @jellehaeck All Americans don't do that, few Americans eat fish they catch. If you're talking Japanese or Indonesia, then yeah they eat fish, every fish possible.

  • @papavalium you do know he didnt say enything about eating them right?

  • I love fishing, but come on...spear fishing for such a rare creature. Can't catch and release it since you killed it. What a waste. I can see that most of the footage is old, so maybe I am wasting my breath anyway.

  • scratch the 40-60 years old thats incredibly young for sturgeon. the big ones are easily 80-100

  • in wisconsin we have the largest land-locked population of naturally reproducing lake sturgeon in the world so it really doesn't matter. thats meat for the freezer

  • the same as killing a whale imo =/ pointless

  • @gvenema dude i understand that its alright to kill fish. but these sturgeon those big ones are like 40-60 years old. people dont realize it. theyre literally throwing a spear into a piece of history.

  • They protected in state of Vermont

  • @TheEmir33 same for delaware and jersey border with the river

  • catch and put back!!

  • fuck how do people feel the right to kill something thats bigger and probably older then they are :(

  • id like to see all of you whiney fuckers throw a spear. 30 pounds of weight that has to be precisely timed and thrown. this is not fishing. ITS SPEARING. enough of you fuckin tree huggers bitchin about the act of spearing. if you dont like it....turn it off.

  • @WoWcurse104 Who cares about throwing a god damn spear anyways? This ain't fishing, no that's right! it's killing and destroying the enviornment... sorry for my bad english but as a fisher we barely harm the fishes. We catch and release! atleast i think this method is wrong. I'm just saying.. everyone got a right to comment / like or not like.

  • @WoWcurse104 dude. im an avid fisherman and hunter. but i dont like spear fishing for sturgeon because these fish. these huge sturgeon. are 40-60 years old. most of the fish are older than the fishermen that are just massacring. thats why theyre endangered in so many states. ill take home fish like bass pike musky bluegill sunnies whatever but sturgeon are those trophies that deserve to live out their life and lets someone else catch one. and if they kill it. then that is that

  • @frankenstrat25 you don't know what you talking about, these fish are very carefully managed. here is wisconsin they have a quota system where the fish must be immediately brought in and tagged right on the ice and when a certain number is reached season is over, only a very very few of total population can be taken we do a good job of preserving these fish for future generations

  • @1overthehillsfaraway i never said theyre being overfished...... i said these giant fish are 60+ years old. the fish are older than most of the people spearing them and they are on the endangered species list on a bunch of states.

  • @frankenstrat25 bigger the sturgeon, older it is, there is stories of sturgeon from where im from, being 600+years old.

  • @SleeCee idk if they get over 600 let alone 600 but hell anythings possible. i definitely know they get over 100 years old

  • @frankenstrat25

about 10 -12 years ago, in lake okanagen a man in a small boat came across a sturgeon approx 29-31 feet long tangled up with an underwater powerline, that came to the surface in distress.

there was no way that he would have been able to haul it in on his boat, so he apparentley assisted in helping it get free.

on youtube somwhere a vid like monsterquest but about ogopogo being a sturgeon / a 30 foot sturgeon would have a hump similar to whats described as ogopogo and nessie

  • @SleeCee hell its completely possible. sturgeon are easily the most interesting freshwater fish there is. a fish that can grow to 31 feet long is just mind boggling

  • They eat this fish, just as people kill fish for the store and then you buy them. The diffrence is that they get them fresh and natural. Also this way is more humane for the fish because you don't put hooks in its mouth and if you don't like it let back a damaged and agitated fish back. They can choose what fish to catch and then they have food for the whole family for the entire winter.

  • why dont we just kill EVERYTHING! fucking retards - the redneck way for sure!

  • someone must be a real retard to kill a beautiful fish like that and with a spear what a barbarian thing to do ...... real fisherman uses rod and real !!!! catch take a pic and release !!! get a life red necks !!!

  • that is some of the best tastein fish i have ever eatin

  • LOL! Shanty at 0:19....I know those guys. They are crazy about sturgeon fishing.

  • wisconsin is the best place to go sturgeon spearing. wisonsin is the sturgeon capital of the world

  • @OnegloveOneMic Ha Here in oregon we catch them hook and line. I went yesterday and caught 200 sturgeon 3 over 200 lbs. one was 13.5 feet long.

  • i love black lake i go there a lot and fish not for sturgeon but i have seen a couple 6 footers in the not to many big one though

  • Spear and fisherman aren't going together. Why don't they use hand grenades or dynamite? Looks same to me... Sorry, can't accept it...

  • @turretless Dont knock it till ya try it.. A spear and a beer!!!

  • I was on black lake and I noticed an 8 foot log swimming on the bottom with a moving tail what a weird log!! Hahaha

  • I forgot to add, the pictures of the Bar at 2:37

  • Hey George, Is that the old Maple Valley Tavern ??? It burned down quit a few years ago, and was on the corner of Old 55 & F97, just east of Prudenville.

  • It sucks when you're trolling on the bottom for catfish or carp and one of these puppies hits. They'll bend a good hook straight as a pin.

  • those things are huge
