  • guys, i think i know who has the pick of destiny

  • Sorry but it is a fake!

he simply moved his fingers on the original so!!

evryone can hear the original bass and drum in the midle... at the end he lose a note....

    LOL

  • Are you Joe's son ?

  • great job I'm quite jealous. Why does it cut off at the end. Thats proper fucked if you ask me guvna.

  • Excellent! I did this same song as a transcription project in College... Did you learn yours by ear or a chart? I used some different chords in the intro, and some different positions/shapes during the solo. The chords in the beginning are tough to hear because there are 2 guitars on the track. Your feel is great though and the performance was flawless.

  • nice

  • Great stuff... you deserve yourself a nice Gibson Archtop playing that well so young.

  • DAMN this is nice !

  • This kid is GREAT !! He memorized Joe Pass' solo exactly and played it impeccably. He learned so much by tracing Pass's steps. At his age this is just superior work. The kid's got the music in his head and nothing can stop him from developing into a real master.

  • Sounds bomb with the roundwounds. Why is it a given that all jazz players use flats?

  • Nice playing - awful aliasing on the recording though (could just be my computer though). I've been mucking around with guitars for 20 years and you're better than me by a factor of several hundred..

  • Mu, this is great stuff!

  • Keep it up!!!

  • sounds great man!

  • awesome !!! thanks for posting, it's really cool that we can see your hands so clearly to catch all those voicings!

  • excellent... you use fingers or pick?

  • Awesome playing, just one piece of critisism, during the chord progressions the melody didn't sing out as much as i'd hoped, a little bit muddy. Excellent performance.

  • Do you have a tab? This looks really fun to jam to.

  • shit!

    nice man.

  • yees!!

  • R u kidding me? How old r u? That was great. You have some chops

  • うまいですね!

    完コピですが、よくもこれだけコピーしましたねってかんじです。

  • Awsome playing

  • nice!!!!!

  • Mayb not as good as Joe Pas but you got time...

    Nice perfomance

  • that was great musicoo, solo was very clean. I found a tab online with slightly different fingerings, but I guess you can refinger it anyway you want in the end. I can stay with this one for weeks. I want to be able to keep time in the solo, add a bass each measure, maybe. I'll see how i goes...

  • good job! i have the same joe pass book as you but i dont have any backing tracks. where did u get this backing track?

  • @nextbigtimepro

the book you have got is a "best of joe pass..." by wolf marshall, yeah? so there is a mp3 file that is played by wolf marshall himself, so you just left a sound output for 100%, then you have got a backing track. could you perhaps put the book on internet so i can download it. i need some other tunes in there, would really appreciated if you would help a fellow jazz student.

  • Nice playing young man

  • this is awesome!

  • Holy crap.

  • Excellent guitar player

  • Great job! You don't need to own a hollobody to play good jazz.

  • Guitar teacher here.

Congratulations! Very well performed, the music is very cool and pretty. U play very well!

  • complimenti! esecuzione e tecnica ammirabile

  • jesus, thats really good

  • Amazed I was, great feel and talent. When you have a Jazz guitar please redo this.

It is not easy to do this piece, exellent.

    Jazz-on

  • very well played though that horrible fender sound,

  • really nice work.

although he made a record (with this song) called "for django", joe once said he never learned one django solo or lick.

    two great guitarists, though.

    once again: great work!

  • Woah dude!

  • awesome

  • how long you been playin?

  • Awesome playing.

I'm trying to get into jazz stuff, not much progress yet.

    But i liked this.

  • talent and good taste

  • Hi, nice version, could you send me the backing track?

  • ma che gibson...allora lo vorresti fare scendere di categoria xD bravissimo bel video

  • Bravo, continua così. Ti meriteresti una Gibson!

  • killer video, thanks for this!

  • SHIT dude how old are you?

  • very clean sound. Nice stuff young man. Keep it going.

  • hey, well done

    sounds great

  • great work young man. this was in 2006. Now post the same song, and see how you have progressed. Keep it your style. Look at the great ones, take what you can and need, and run with it.

  • you have the talent

    and good taste

django and joe pass - great stuff

  • Excellent Work!

  • loosen up

  • Wow, you have my admiration, great mature playing for someone so young.

  • keep doing stuff like that kid and you're gonna find yourself a force to be reckoned with in the not-to-distant future...

  • very nice man, i like your tone

  • Very good man. Cheers!

  • Muito bom ......!

  • just perfect!

  • Nice job. Good tone. I love this song.

  • amazing work dude! seriously very VERY tight

  • Nice and clean. Good work.

  • You don't give yourself enough credit. You were great! Joe Pass doesn't make learning his renditions easy. You did well with his arpeggios and everything.

  • This piece was recorded by the Modern Jazz Quartet.

I always thought it was written by one of them either John Lewis or Milt Jackson.

    Am I wrong ?

  • There are vids on Utube showing the MJQ playing this. So Divvy I expect you are right....again!

  • john lewis composition in dedication to the great django reinhardt... real book 5th ed. page 120 =)

  • whats this piece called? can anyone tell me pelase??? this is awesome

  • django by joe pass....lol

  • you are a very good guitard player bravo!

  • THANK YOUUUUUU

  • This is a very nice rendition of the Jazz classic. The only two guitar versions that really floor me have been the Johhny Smith version and the Joe Pass version. Johnny's recording is very timing intensive, the phrasing quite extrodinary. Joe's version lends itself to a slightly more modernish tone and timing and also very effective. This is a nice tribute to the great Joe Pass version.

  • OOOPPS! I neglected to pay tribute to yet another version played by the great Eddie Duran on the 'Vince Guiraldi Trio' recording cut in 1956. This is a superb jazz recording and features Eddie on some wonderful numbers, two where he burns up the neck 'Fascinating Rhythm and Its' De-Lovely ,

a beautiful solo of 'OssoBucco' and of course 'Django'. The arrangement is one of the best, as we've come to expect from the immortal Vince Guaraldi.

  • this is how the youtube commenting system should be used!

    thumbs up mister!

  • Im 24 and just barely am I getting into playing Joes music. You are impressive ! and I am glad that people out there such as yourself are keeping it alive.

  • fantastic really a genius

  • Well done! I liked your feel on it. I transcribed this a few years ago, and it ain't easy. For Django is probably my favorite Pass album. Thanks for keeping it alive.

  • Great work! Learning other peoples solos is good, but you need to work in the fundamentals if you don't already know them. Learn diatonic harmony, idiomatic chord progressions like II-V-I in major and minor, I and III-VI-II-V. Message me, and I can send you some good resources for learning jazz guitar! Cheers!

  • Thats sooo good!

  • please tell me the source of your tabs!!!!!

  • You have great skills kid!

  • Holy Sh!t kid... How old are you?

    Excellent work for that age.

  • sounds like one string is out of tune, or something. but i mean. still. this is good.

  • Wow man, absolutely incredible. Please, please keep pursuing this type of music, at least along with whatever else you're playing. You've got the talent and the feel for it that many players lack. I put this video in my favorites and watch it when I need to hear some truly inspirational music played really damn well.

  • what guitar are you using?

  • Wow. Unbelievable. Far better than any of the shredders who post their noise on You Tube. I wish there were more people posting stuff like this. Are you able to improvise stuff like this over changes yet? :)

  • heck i think ur AMAZING!!!!!

  • Half of what you play would be 50% easier if you used your little finger. Nice work though. Now work on your own ideas, rather than copying, then you could be the next Joe Pass.

  • I hear a story in this tune.

  • finding nemo!! :D

oh wait... very well done ;)

ive ordered the book and going to try to do the same:P

  • very impressive

  • Wow thats really nice playing. Ive been playing for 12 years and i can t play l;ike that. Cool Man!!!!!

  • IMPRESSIVE!

  • How do you go about learning this?

Is there a tab specifically for what you're playing going around?

Or is it scales and such?

  • there's a book called the best of joe pass

the tab of this song is written in it

  • you are a great young player. Work on your swing rhythm here more. Excellent lead work! Treat yourself to a nice holly body - when I did it made me enjoy playing that type of music 10x more! You deserve a nice ax to play that great material on. Good job

  • afterthought . . .commenter is a big JOE PASS FANANTIC . . .KEEP STROKIN AND POKEING . .

  • good . . damn good. . key kid-o i see big bucks in your future . .joe p. would be proud . . .next video . . . .show the world what you look like . .

  • This is really nice, at some parts almost sounds like a harpsichord

  • man how did you get interested in joe pass?

when was it? I believe you are so good, .

If you'd play full accoustic guitar like es-175, it will sound like joe aye?

I got impressed very much boy.

  • Joe, You sure look young. Didn't know video technology was this good when you were a kid. You will grow up to be a fameous jazz player , by the way.

  • LOL!

  • man you're great...

  • sounds great!

where did you get the backing track?

I would like to try this solo too.

  • Brilliant, well done!

  • not bad. but your losing your swing on the fast runs.

  • u sound too good for your age. r u sure you actually played that?

    Gotcha!

    Great work, ur fantastic!

  • Sounds good.

    Just boring...

  • eyü eyü fena degül

  • smooth!!! Realy great!! Congratulations!

  • Man you're really good. Stay away from drugs and a__holes and have a great time!

  • You sound great!!

  • great, keep on playin'

  • swingin.

  • Very very cool, keep it up!

  • i did this same solo for school, and you did very very well, but some of the voices you are using are more complex than they need to be. but if you want to continue doing it this way, its not necessarily incorrect! keep up the good work.

  • Sweet.....!

Play whatever you feel....there's the magic in it...

  • wow all this jazz guitar sounds really cool, im slowly slipping away from metal. thannks for the influence jazz players! =)

  • Don't slip away from metal, you can listen to more than one genre of music =)

  • I like your style, keep on!

  • I really enjoyed this, and on a strat too!

    rock on bro!

  • i like your nemo

  • very nice, great tone, your rhythm is very good. Keep on playing, I enjoyed your playing. ; )

  • Very good! I hope you like my version too.

    greetings

    Hans

  • dude. WICKED good, as we say here in new england. concur somewhat with andostrates, would like to hear you playing such lovely stuff on a nice gibson semi-solid body. oh, yeah.

  • REALLY nice!!!

  • très impressionant!!

    est tu parti d'une partition?

    si oui, laquelle ?

    encore bravo et merci

  • Well, I dont care if it's a strat. Good musicians make music from sticks and stones.

    You make music.

Now, use the riffs you learned and improvise on your own. Find your own line.

  • You are great but your rig sucks! Never play jazz on a Strat- gods cry!!! plus they cant handle the pressure of jazz strings (which start at .012) I play Ernie Ball "Not Even Slinky" with unwound third

Ibenez makes a really nice hollow body Jazz guitar AF-75 Listen I've paid thousands of dollars for a guitar and never had one WOW me as much as this baby. Which I paid $350.00 at Guitar Center but I bet you could find a used one for a couple c-notes

  • amazing job

  • nice job man, hope to see more from you...

  • That was fantastic, dude!

    Nice one.

  • thank you so much. you are a beautiful soul

  • where did u get the backing track?

  • Nice job there...Keep up the work!

  • not a great tone you have there but nice playing

  • Great, i´m a joe pass fan, i have uploaded some joe pass transcriptions.

  • Great playing! what amp are you using? sounds great.

  • Really nice playing amigo... Just one thing... TUCK THAT LITTLE FINGER IN! Heh heh! i dont know how people can play with technique like that!! But hey, it's obviously working for you. Great job!

  • An old favourite of mine. Joe Pass note for note. Most impressive job. Thanks for posting this.

  • yeahhh

  • well done! I'd prefer that on a acoustic-guitar!

  • You have really great swing 8ths.. Good job young friend!

  • Love this.

  • Very jazzy... wow... what happens I can't control my body. .... ^^

  • AMAZZING PLAYING!!! Now learn some Kiko Loureiro stufff man! Search up "Amazing Angra Guitarist Lesson" Learn that. Post videos of that. If you do I will give you MAJOR worship. Peace man.

  • Wow how old is this kid the strat is bigger than he is. I wonder if he read it or figured by ear ethier way very impressive. Now he needs a jazz guitar.

  • Superb. Thats some good playing. I am giving up guitar now.

  • you're one hepcat!!

  • awesome, you've put a spell on me. there are no words to speak, just fantastic!!!

  • i'm speechless.

  • i like the fact that you said you're not as good as joe pass "yet" that's the right mentality to have :D stick with it and put your mind to it, and you can do anything

  • you sound very good. and it would sound more fantastic on a hollow... are you playing with backing tracks? if so. where do you get those tracks?

  • Very nice. The sound has a lot more to do with your playing than the guitar you're playing on. I say you nailed it - it would have sounded great on just about anything.

  • OUTSTANDING!!!

  • amazing......

  • Awesome playing, it's practically note for note accurate to Joe's version. Definitely one of my favourite songs by THE greatest jazz guitar player of all times.
