  • I'd reccomend snails to handle the algae.

  • Just scrape the Stuff off..If you scrub hard enough it wont come back for a while

    Trust me.

  • Less light will also help control the algae. Just leave the light on and hour or two less during the day. The when things start looking good then you can make it longer. Also you can remove some of the algae by hand as it does take away nutrients that your plants need to survive.

Ive had a few tanks before and left one thinking it will fix itself and all my plants died due to the algae. I started maintaining it every week and not its perfect.

  • You can't put pleco in 2.65 gal. I would recommend Otocinclus. My 3 gal has 1 oto in it and it is doing great and no algae.

  • Thanks for the rec...will keep that in mind:)

  • that's a great name for a betta! hmmm i think i'll get a look at that book too. is it a good book?

  • Hi! Your betta tank is really doing well..I do recommend a pleco for the algae problem...not the colorful pleco so that your betta won't get territorial on it. What's your betta's name?

  • His name is Stingray:)

In Walstad's book, she mentioned that it took about a year for one of her tanks to get rid of algae "naturally" so I'm thinking of waiting and see what happens in about a year. If not, I will probably get something...I do so hate quarantine though:P

  • @bg031 How's that going? lol.
