  • Wow .. that is some VERY crisp clear coloratura .. puts most mezzos who sing this aria to shame. If the syncopation were a bit less "floppy" this would actually be perfect :0)

  • Probably the best male version of all interpretations - congratulation!

  • No I didn't get this either. If Handel had meant this to be sung by a tenor he would have scored it for one. Bostridge is an exceptional singer but I thought the days of tenors appropriating Handels' songs for higher voice were gone forever.

  • @jgadd1994 The role was indeed sung by a tenor in some performances during Händel's life, without orchestration changes. Besides, this aria was used for the tenor role in Poro, and in another opera i don't remember right now. Check authorized bibliography.

  • @gabohuaroc Where is their evidence that tenors sang the role of Ariodante? I've always wanted to sing the arias for Ariodante, especially Scherza Infida, but I never knew it would be authentic to do so! I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me where you found this out :) Thanks!

  • Just brilliant!

None opf the register or timbre changes are inappropriate or accidental.

    Bravissimo, IB.

  • It's hard to know what to say about this. I think I like it. It is certainly technically very good.
