Okay, let me set the record straight. C.W. McCall is the pseudonym of Bill Fries, who wrote the lyrics and actually sang the song. Chip Davis (of Mannheim Steamroller fame) wrote the music. The guy playing C.W. McCall in some videos is an actor named Jim Finlayson. Some other hits from C.W. McCall include "Wolf Creek Pass" and "Old Home Filler-Up an' Keep on Truckin' Cafe", which was based on a real cafe in Sloan, Iowa. And yes, Bill Fries did serve as mayor of Ouray, CO, from 1986-1992.
