Great video. You made me smile and I played this song for an hour. I've always loved the Dead, but playing it makes me appriciate Bob's phrasing. Thanks so much, and keep posting!
awesome! Can you please play both of those licks at the same time? Hahah. Seriously though, maybe get a Boss loop pedal or EH 16 second delay. Also, is that what Bobby plays on the LP? I know a different line he did. Anyways, knowing them it was was played differently every time. Thanks!
sheeebaaaaaaaabaaaa(not a real word)....that has got to be one of the most beautiful gutiars i have ever seen!!!! and look at those pickups!!!!! maaaaaaaaaaannnn....in love with that guitar!!!
there is a big difference between instruments where everything is done by hand, (from seeming the wood up, to carveing your neck) and factory made instruments...... but thank you broseph1043 for making everyone who read this comment a dumber person
my teacher from phoenix a.z made that guitar his name is john reuter it is a jerry caster, he builds them by hand, jerry garcia himself wanted him to build them
I went to your site (very nice by the way) and i wanted to find a link to Ressurection guitars, but website expired or something, do you have an updated version?
no u fucking idiot, get your shit right before you post your stupid mindless comments on youtube, all your top brands fender, gibson, prs, every one of them uses CNC equipment in one way or another , after the process of building them (putting a piece of wood in one end and it shits it out THE OTHER), it may go to a custom shop, or assembly department where they polish it up set it up, and play it for one second, then send it off to be sold.
and i highly doubt you know more about playing, building, or fretted instrument repair, i went to school for what i do, and build acoustics, and electrics by hand, for a living, you are just one of those people that think they know something, but probably couldnt even set a guitar up to play right, let alone build by hand, or do any extensive repair. but i am glad you have a job at a factory sanding the same piece of wood all day, two thumbs up for you!!!!!,
no, thats not true, gibson has prolly over a couple million in cnc equipment, what makes you think they would build a guitar or anything else by hand.
helpful vid thanks.. i have a cover of this song up but was wonderin how to make it more interesting..real cool how you do bob's licks... and wow i thought trilling g to g# was the coolest thing ever when i first tried it
Uhm not sure if anyone has asked this and if not this should help out some people who may have the same question... What effects are you using on this??? This would be greatly appreciated...
There was a guy in Jensen Beach Florida (or in that general area) who was making these "Jerry" guitars a few years ago... maybe he still is. They were highly in demand as one can imagine.
dual humbuckers and a single coil, standard setup on that SG! Only ting missing is Jerry's tiger rose on the plaque behind the bridge. I like the Cats down under.... he has though!
Great guitar work! Man, The Dead will live on forever! I just learned of a new book about the dead - "One Hundred Things I'll Miss About Grateful Dead Land" by Christine Dunne. I bought it on Amazon. There's some unpublished photos of Bobby in it!
Thanks so much for your Dead tutorials. I'm getting back into playing for the first time in years and you've helped me remember stuff I first learned almost 40 years ago!
nice work! love it. thanks for breaking that down. one of the things i liked to do is put on a DVD of the dead here in my studio and play along w/them through the mixer. sure takes me back to all those i so enjoyed. cheers.
hey you're pretty darn good. super informative video, i'll definitely learn the lick and bust it out next time my friend starts playing friend of the devil. the girls love it when he plays that song, and soon i will steal his spotlight. muahaha!
