If they knew half as much as they thought they would know that turbine engines of this size don't put out any more noise than many of the big blocks running. Ever been behind the back of a boat running twin 525's... Yeah its just as loud if not louder. Plus the exhaust tone of a turbine is a much higher pitch, so the sound doesn't travel as far. From a distance the turbine will seem quiet

jeffrey, please learn what you are talking about the rooster tail is not for show. This boat has a jet drive which is probably a Berkley or Jacuzzi pump and the rooster tail comes from the what they call a jet-o-vator which is trim for the jet pump to keep the boat from porpoising.

Its kind of like an "afterburner." I've seen jet cars do this, and when the flames shoot out, the engine makes a very loud, "BOOM!!" The driver hits a switch, which squirts a generous amount of fuel into the exhaust outlet, and it is ignited by the heat. Large, plums of smoke, that can literally fill a city block, emanates from a jet engine taken off an F-4 Phantom jet fighter. It is very intimidated to watch and be near. Puts out massive heat, PRONTO!

Nice constructed but the noise power doesn't match the speed though. It reminds me of a Geo metro with a dual exhaust package on it. Try going 100mph, which I have done on my GPR1490cc supercharged personal watercraft. If you want to line up someday let me know. My name will be posted in the 2009 Genius Book of World Records for next years issue. Very nice work though. I know how much work goes into a project like this.

Versions of that engine are used in normal civil helicopters as well...they aren't exactly highly restricted.
