Kubica is one of the very few drivers, who claim they like this circuit. Kubica is a big fan of street circuits. It's true that the safety standards are higher than in monaco, and there are more runoffs. I think it's bad because it lowers the difference between more and less talented drivers. If there was sand instead of asphalt, the less balled drivers wouldn't push that hard. But the safety standards are important and it's good not to see people dying there.
@GabrielStefan No need to get aggravated about my opinion on this circuit which wasn't even directed at you. My opinion is, it is a good circuit as it has some slow corners, and some very high speed sections, it isn't very often that a street circuit has as high speed sections as this one does. This year, despite the fact that JB didn't overtake Koboyashi, and therefore backed everyone up, does not mean there isn't overtaking, we saw overtaking down to the last lap people overtaking one another.
@GabrielStefan This year, we also saw some spins, a spectacular crash, and the start of the Valencia Gp is always interesting due to the nature of there being a small bend before a quite tight corner. I also find the onboards of this track very interesting, the drivers cope with harsh weather and still put their cars to the maximum, and the high speed sections are great to watch. I like this circuit, and that's why i came to watch this video,I didn't come here to argue with someone that likes it
@dan1994L Yeah it wasn't the most boring GP, you are right. But considering how utterly mind numbing tracks like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi are, that isn't saying much.
Honestly, I wish Hermann Tilke stopped making tracks. All the tracks he makes are boring. They may have a good design on paper, but they rarely lead to exciting racing.
You cannot call this a street circuit. It's way too smooth.
Street circuits are meant to give the drivers a different challenge in terms of bumps in the road, white lines in the rain and non-forgiving runoff areas.
yes, you are right, i was in this circuit in 2008, the grandstands was the worst i've never seen, the circuit isn't urban, for example, since min. 0.22, is a new road, where the normal cars can't drive here during the year...
I don't understand why some people hate this circuit. I'm sure about that the fast part of the track before the last corner calls some balls to drive it trought with full throttle.
Well I can only tell from Simulations (rFactor) but the track is no fun to drive. You can't overtake, it's just sharp corners, no rythm, no hills. You just brake hard and turn in. And the last part isn't as difficult as it looks. Well of course I don't know the real F1 feeling but from the simulations it seems horrible....
I find it a pleasure to drive. Just because you aren't doing as good on this circuit compared to others doesn't mean the circuit sucks & is no fun to drive! For me there's plenty of overtaking opportunities on this circuit in rFactor.
Who said I can't drive on this circuit? In my online rFactor league I nearly made P3 in this race (brake failure). I can drive very well on those curcuits, Melbourne, Monaco, Valencia, Bahrain, Singapore, all tracks that fit to my driving style. But does that mean I like this track? No, it's boring. Maybe I am better then in e.g. Spa but Spa is 10 times more fun to drive. Of course it's my opinion but you are using arguments I never said in the first point.
Sorry that you feel attacked by my statement, I guess I could have worded myself differently. I agree that it's not the most fun track on the calendar, but it's a challenge nontheless.
boring circuit. there are not many good driver circuits left, spa, suzuka etc for example. the security paranoia made most of the circuits boring. the #1 racing championship in the world isnt driving on the #1 most difficult and special course, nordschleife... yes there were terrible crashes, but racing isnt a sport for old grandmothers. fuckin ecclestone, senna would laugh about the f1 nowadays...
This circuit sucks. Monaco (before it gets screwed : entry and exit of the swimming-pool, Rascasse, damned flat kerbs at the chicane, kerbs at Casino) and Adelaide were very good. F1 sucks , it has been totally screwed. There is no moral presence, like Senna or another great driver to keep the F1 alive, a morale opposition to the trend followed by the so called F1.
This circuit is a fast paced street circuit, monaco is still awesome, and Adelaide was pretty cool. I don't understand why you hate this circuit. Harder to overtake?
There is no a single interesting corner. This circuits looks like a fake urban circuit. And yes, it's harder to overtake but this is not the worst aspect for me. For me, this circuit has no charm.
theres not a lot of overtaking in this circuit, the track isnt wide enough and its just playing boring... only interesting overtake will be the beginning but if pole sitter gets away, the outcome will be the same unless they screw up the pit strategy
borefest again this year

People always bag this circuit, I reckon it's a good one
dan1994L 1 year ago
@dan1994L you reckon how exactly? Cause the amount of passing is pretty pathetically low on this circuit.
Maybe you consider procession races to be "good" races, but most people don't.
