@viperkeeper And Irwin did that? i cant believe it... To all his snakes in the show or just for the movie "Collision Course" where he handles that Oxyuranus microlepidotus (Fierce Snake) and its so docile?
al your the man, today i went out catching little gopher snakes and im still piss scared of them even tho their not venomus lol. I dont know how you doit......
These are the most informative, interesting and responsible videos I have ever seen on these beautiful creatures. It is a real privelege to see them up close and the way you are able to work with them. Please keep them coming and ignore the idiots!!!!
Nice videos, Man dont listen to no one else they don't know what you do and how you feel only ou know that. Keep doing your thing and be very carefull.
Hey Al, true story for you. Do you remember about a year ago some snake charmer in Malaysia got bit and died? It was a world wide story., Turns out the guy was my wife's uncle. Swear to god. So we went to Malaysia and wound up at one of the zoos. There was this guy playing with a 10 ft snake. Sorry no idea what type. Suddenly my wife says, Chachi, is that you? It was her cousin. My wife comes from a snake family. Shrug. I did get myself a photo with a beautiful snake. Ill post it later.
A properly applied pressure bandage (Elapids only)can extend the time to hours but not too many hours. They have been known to kill in 30 minutes of less.
People complain about your videos! They need to get a life, good idea on the scary shorts. If I had a green mamba do that I would need a new pair of pants.
Who wears short shorts? Al wears short shorts! That's because Al is the man! hey Al (and anyone else) I have a feeding video of my BP catching a mid air meal with a time lapse upside down swallow that I know a lot of you will absolutely love... Check it out!
i really like the equipment you use. ive replicated the "u-plex" and its great for those squirmy guys. ive also mounted my digi-cam on a broom handle so i should be getting a few cool angles myself pretty soon =)
thanks for all you do on your videos. Very informative,it has lessed my phobia of snakes!! Having lived in Africa and India, its a wonderful education for creatures from there.
The "Scary Shorts" will be puut together when the situation presents itself. I have one more in my vault that's ready to go. It also involves "The Green Meanie" Mamba.
i think the vids you do are fine examples of honest everyday dealings with venomous snakes . thank you for not candy coating things . people need to know what can and does happen with these animals .
i keep and breed numerous species of small constrictors and pythons so except for the venom thing , i see much of the same things in my own collection .
Great idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing more shorts. I think sometimes even the most ecperienced can get caught off guard, good procedures for the win.
I think that having the nasty shocks out of context will make it less scary/educational. I know for me the biggest thing is being relaxed about the wee critters when suddenly they get aggravated.
On the other hand, maybe some sharp shocks would engage people's attention to start with.
Wow! That was a beautiful shot right down the mamba's mouth. Great capture of natural behavior!
People, Al's made me swallow my heart too but if one can't watch it, one shouldn't own snakes to begin with. If you don't like it and don't own snakes, why are you watching?
awesome, mr coritz! the green missile is quite interesting.. that ranks pretty damn high on large feeding responses. And what species of green mamba was that? I havent seen any so blue like those 2 were.
oh thts awesome! =D i cant wait to see the scary shorts! wow. its like u look at one of them and the other moves closer to the camera. tht was really close!
I love it how you can routinely name each species by it's Latin name. As for the video, just a few seconds before the mamba struck I realized there was two of them in the same cage. That made me jump even more when the snake decided to strike.
I always thought it was a bad idea to put two animals in the same cage but I see it is done often. Is it common for the snakes you have to attack each other Mr. Coritz?
I got a field guide from the Audubon Society that seems to be pretty informative, only 20 bucks at barnes and nobles

How certain is death after being bitten by this Green fellow?
YonHASH 4 years ago
There are too many factors at play to guess with any accuracy. Without treatment with specific A/V the chances are likely you will not survive.
viperkeeper 4 years ago
How fast the treatment has to be? Is it a question of minutes...hours?
Anyways, great videos Viperkeeper! I don't have any reptiles (and I don't plan to have any), but they are just so beautiful and interesting!
