  • I got a field guide from the Audubon Society that seems to be pretty informative, only 20 bucks at barnes and nobles

  • All this time I thought The late Steve Irwin was the snake whisperer...

  • @viperkeeper And Irwin did that? i cant believe it... To all his snakes in the show or just for the movie "Collision Course" where he handles that Oxyuranus microlepidotus (Fierce Snake) and its so docile?

  • @CSGReptiles Yup...and the King Brown...

  • @viperkeeper Wow...:/

  • What does "Ice Down" mean?

  • @CSGReptiles Cool the reptile in temperature so it's less active/dangerous.

  • If only the snakes had boobs, you could sell tapes of GIRL SNAKES GONE WILD..

  • Bourbon and coke again....yikes...

  • Who used to ice their snakes down? Tell me not Irwin

  • @fattperpz Sorry, yes Steve Irwin.

  • @viperkeeper That sucks, i've watched his show almost all of my life

  • If that doesn't scare you off try to play with 3 cobras outside the cage and piss them off :D

  • Wow you nearly got owned by that snake good reactions :D

  • so you have get small dead creature to feed your snake

  • They cannot swallow LARGE dead creatures like stupid people.

  • hehe you sound like wall-e in slowmo :P

  • al your the man, today i went out catching little gopher snakes and im still piss scared of them even tho their not venomus lol. I dont know how you doit......

  • Just grab them and try to evade their bite..worst thing that happens is you get bloodied....good training...LOL

  • lol maybe soon ill move onto milked snakes hahaha

  • is this segment dead?

  • If it is I didn't kill it...

  • I could play it...

  • I mean more scary shorts... there hasnt been for months. Is the segment "canceled"

gosh I have been watching for u a while... it seemed like just yesterday this was posted

  • Just that the snakes are not giving me materal to work with...LOL

  • holy crap that was close

  • damn!!! thats all i can say!

  • wat ever happened to this segment?

  • More installments? I have some..just haven't uploaded them....

  • ok kool

  • These are the most informative, interesting and responsible videos I have ever seen on these beautiful creatures. It is a real privelege to see them up close and the way you are able to work with them. Please keep them coming and ignore the idiots!!!!

  • DANG! you almost scared me to death, i was watching the one that was eating!

  • Love those mambas! Would like to get a pair someday. Are they bird feeders only or can you switch them to mice?

  • Yes, they both also take mice but like birds best.

  • holy cow what strike by that mamba!!! I was actualy leaning forward a bit watching it an actualy jerked back!

  • Whoowee yeah almost wet myself on that one.

  • HOT HOT! :p

  • Those mambas are some of the prettiest I have ever seen! The colors were amazing.

  • Nice videos, Man dont listen to no one else they don't know what you do and how you feel only ou know that. Keep doing your thing and be very carefull.

  • You seem like a pretty cautious person. Thanks for uploading. Much enjoyed.

  • neat! keep on filming:)

  • That was so great, thanks for all the great videos!

  • do you have any australian coastal taipans?

  • No, Australia does not allow export of their flora & fauna except to Zoo's

  • Hey Al, true story for you. Do you remember about a year ago some snake charmer in Malaysia got bit and died? It was a world wide story., Turns out the guy was my wife's uncle. Swear to god. So we went to Malaysia and wound up at one of the zoos. There was this guy playing with a 10 ft snake. Sorry no idea what type. Suddenly my wife says, Chachi, is that you? It was her cousin. My wife comes from a snake family. Shrug. I did get myself a photo with a beautiful snake. Ill post it later.

  • That's funny...small world

  • thats crazy!

  • How certain is death after being bitten by this Green fellow?

  • There are too many factors at play to guess with any accuracy. Without treatment with specific A/V the chances are likely you will not survive.

  • How fast the treatment has to be? Is it a question of minutes...hours?

Anyways, great videos Viperkeeper! I don't have any reptiles (and I don't plan to have any), but they are just so beautiful and interesting!

  • A properly applied pressure bandage (Elapids only)can extend the time to hours but not too many hours. They have been known to kill in 30 minutes of less.

  • hey Al, great video. keep up the good work and I must say that your videos are very entertaining for all us reptile enthusiests out there. Thanks

  • Well, we learned something about Green Mambas, didn't we?

If the one in front doesn't get you, the one in the back will!

  • Sweet

  • Awesome video. I started keeping hots about a year ago. I always find your videos educational.

  • hey al, havent commented in a while, but wow, that was crazy, the slow motion looked really good too

  • another great video, id of crapped myself at that coming at me haha !

  • People complain about your videos! They need to get a life, good idea on the scary shorts. If I had a green mamba do that I would need a new pair of pants.

  • I'm up for anything - long or short - that you post! Keep 'em coming!

  • That was a verry nice idea, the scary shorts and that one was a really nice one! :)

  • Nice video.

  • Look forward to more shorts, think it will prevent many mistakes in handling... They are unforseeable, the little creatures..

Keep up the great work. /Jonas

  • "That's a feeding response" he says. . . hillarious. Funny how the mamba calmly took the food too.

  • That's all he/she wanted.. I want my Chick!!

  • THAT WAS SO FAST!

  • Yes, exactly why you really need to be "on your game" keeping very fast Elapids. That was actually a fairly slow strike...

  • Who wears short shorts? Al wears short shorts! That's because Al is the man! hey Al (and anyone else) I have a feeding video of my BP catching a mid air meal with a time lapse upside down swallow that I know a lot of you will absolutely love... Check it out!

  • You're really starting to scare me...

  • man Al I don't think I've ever seen you fly back from a cage like that before!!! I think you just set a land speed record!

  • that made me jump id shit my self if i were you

  • i really like the equipment you use. ive replicated the "u-plex" and its great for those squirmy guys. ive also mounted my digi-cam on a broom handle so i should be getting a few cool angles myself pretty soon =)

keep up the great work and watch those fingers!

  • wow... that scared the shit out of me... I didnt even know 2 were in there. Um did u see him comeing before it happened?

  • I saw him right when he "Locked on target"

  • thanks for all you do on your videos. Very informative,it has lessed my phobia of snakes!! Having lived in Africa and India, its a wonderful education for creatures from there.

  • cool. are you going to do it weekly?

  • The "Scary Shorts" will be puut together when the situation presents itself. I have one more in my vault that's ready to go. It also involves "The Green Meanie" Mamba.

  • well if you do get bit by a snake that can kill you, its probably the schock that kills the person, not the poision o.O

by the way you sound strange in slow motion o.O lol

  • My spaghettimonster, that was fast. I dont know how you dare work with these creatures :)

  • Thanks, for not wearing short shorts Al.

  • I was wondering who would be the first to comment on that...LOL

  • lol good one Al. Great video though.

  • first substantal comment .

i think the vids you do are fine examples of honest everyday dealings with venomous snakes . thank you for not candy coating things . people need to know what can and does happen with these animals .

i keep and breed numerous species of small constrictors and pythons so except for the venom thing , i see much of the same things in my own collection .

  • Great idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing more shorts. I think sometimes even the most ecperienced can get caught off guard, good procedures for the win.

  • It looked like that eastern green covered about two feet in that strike. Amazing.

  • It's a really amazing sequence if you look how fast the strike progresses from the "wind-up" to the "pitch".

  • I think that having the nasty shocks out of context will make it less scary/educational. I know for me the biggest thing is being relaxed about the wee critters when suddenly they get aggravated.

On the other hand, maybe some sharp shocks would engage people's attention to start with.

  • I think this will be a good segment, I am definitely excited to see more!

  • Thanks, I will put the whole video of the Mambas feeding including this clip another time.

  • Nice vid as always. Gotta love those green critters!

  • Lol nice snake

  • Wow! That was a beautiful shot right down the mamba's mouth. Great capture of natural behavior!

People, Al's made me swallow my heart too but if one can't watch it, one shouldn't own snakes to begin with. If you don't like it and don't own snakes, why are you watching?

  • Al, ignore the haters. Luv the shorts!

  • Scary Shorts

    Snakes Gone Wild

    Fiesty Fangs

    Great idea! Keep it up.

  • Like "Fiesty Fangs" Very Cool!

  • Feel free to use it! :)

  • That was some scary xxxx. I allmost wet my pants. But i do enyo ALL your vids so far.

    Keep em coming :-D

    Best Regards

    Daniel (Sweden)

  • awesome, mr coritz! the green missile is quite interesting.. that ranks pretty damn high on large feeding responses. And what species of green mamba was that? I havent seen any so blue like those 2 were.

    Thanks!

  • hahaha i thaught it was a wierd porno video

    but awesome video nontheless!

  • impressive reflexes al

  • That was awsome.

  • second comment! Scary shorts? Do you wear protective gloves when you use the cam and the extender? Stay safe mate.

  • oh thts awesome! =D i cant wait to see the scary shorts! wow. its like u look at one of them and the other moves closer to the camera. tht was really close!

  • BIG UP AL!!!!!

  • nice reactions al

  • Wow!!!! dint even noticed the second one in the back till I saw it coming right at you!

Where can we find that particular snake?

    tks

    Fab

  • Awesome video as always!

I love it how you can routinely name each species by it's Latin name. As for the video, just a few seconds before the mamba struck I realized there was two of them in the same cage. That made me jump even more when the snake decided to strike.

I always thought it was a bad idea to put two animals in the same cage but I see it is done often. Is it common for the snakes you have to attack each other Mr. Coritz?

  • awesome clip man, it shows how fast your reactions much be if you dont want to lose a finger

  • Dang i was hoping to get to see you in some hotpants :).... Can't wait for the vids Al

  • first view and comment

  • Some comment...

  • lol

  • Hehe, you don't have to say that twice.. :D

Btw. Al, it's good work you do, can't understand why people complain about your work and the videos.. :)
