Hello Ajayji. Nice. Lata's first gone for the legendary, Music Director Khemchand Prakash who was the older brother of Basant Prakash. Both brothers were experts in playing Sarangi. Sarangi was invented in Rajasthan were they were from originally. Ziddi film was released in 1948 and produced by Sadat Hasan Munto, a writer and investor in films and a close friend of Ashok Kumar. Next project was Rim Jhim in 1949. These two films brought Kishore fame and he admitted that till the end.
This song show-cases the everlasting appeal of Lata's voice - sweet innocence. Combine this with classical training and incredible vocal range and you have a knockout combination. However, her voice lacked two qualities: sexiness (Asha & Geeta Dutt) and power (Geeta Dutt).
Classical flourishes enrich this wonderful Lata song throughout. To be more precise, I should say, this Khemchand Prakash-Lata song, for in his time KP, who died when he was only 42, was a giant in the Indian music world. His compositions in Ziddi and then in Mahal were the twin rockets that sent Lataji into everlasting glory.Others then took over to keep her there. Thanks, Ajay.
@chamogaa Hello. Khemchand Prakash was an expert in Indian film and also a Sarangi player. He had a damaged heart and was frequently admitted to hospitals. He had a habit of falling love with nurses when he would be there. Him and his younger brother, both were known as the "Big Moustached Musicians". Once, someone by mistake Khemchand by his brother Prakash's name. He got so upset, he shaved off his to be recognized as Khemchand Prakash and not as Basant Prakash. Basant failed music direction.
