Good call on "In the Parking Lot," and "Girl Don't Tell Me" is one of their all-time BEST!! I'd add "She's Not the Little Girl." There were a couple on this list I don't know that well. Good to know there's still more Beach Boys to discover. Thanks!!
great choice of songs. all these songs that weren't hits add the ones that were hits on just the albums you covered- this band is way too under-rated. you did a really great job of putting this all together. Thanks so very much..
You missed all the post Smile period as well: Little Bird, I'd Love Just Once to See You, Forever, Summer Means New Love, Friends, Still I dream of It, Be Still, Busy Doin Nothin, Never Learnt to Love, You're Welcome, Our Sweet Love, A Day in the Life of A Tree, Til I Die (and I'm not familiar with the albums after 1974 but I'm sure there's some clearly under rated songs in there too)
and in the early albums The Warmth Of The Summer and Summer Means New Love! :)
Great list. Your choice of The Lonely Sea is right on. It's one of Brian's most beautiful vocals. Thanks for reminding, and introducing, people to those awesome early songs. I would also include She Knows Me Too Well and Kiss Me Baby from The Beach Boys Today as underrated. They're two of my all-time faves.
You did a great job. It's gratifying for an old fart who was 12 in 1962 to see some of the comments that show you inspired and educated. Thanks again.
@cloudmusic01 I believe Dennis played Camco drums, with a blue moiré finish. A lot of drummers got their sets for free or at a reduced price, because having their logo on the bass drum head was free advertising (Imagine how many Ludwig sets Ringo helped sell). Maybe Dennis had to pay for his own drums, so he swapped drum head for a generic one. Who knows? (I remember reading that Brian said he wrote "Little Honda" because he hoped they'd get free motorcycles, but Honda didn't bother...)
YEAH!!! I have to say I love "Girl Don't Tell Me" the most...maybe it's the Beatles' influence. It really doesn't matter; it's just a great song regardless, as are all the others you posted. Thank you!! Brian is such a musical genius.
God bless Mr. Brian Wilson.

Great, thoughtful list. I agree with Girl Don't Tell Me. It's about the bittersweet time in the early fall when you say goodbye to your summer love.

I kept waiting for "Your Summer Dream" but it never appeared. Definitely hear you on "Lonely Sea" and "Custom Machine", though.

I don't think they're underrated at all - It's just that many fans don't listen to albums from start to finish.
