  • A family of hippies think they know nature. What idots..

  • they left the city because there daughter was very sick girl thats when the father said lets get out of here they don't show that part i don't know why but its a great movie

  • Wow, a mountain lake in the Rockie's, even in the summer would be freezing, and he just threw his kid in it. I thought they were moving for the girl's health. I guess the figured the boy was expendable.

  • I remember this excellent film alongside the Incredible journey.

  • when i was in school i watched this it is my favorite movie thanks for uploading!

  • I was a child and watched these films in the `80, and i love it still to watch them after so long time. This is wunderbar. greeting from Germany

  • Shuttup Jacqueline. >=(

  • Omg, i can't believe these are up on Youtube. I only have the videos on VHS and now we don't have VCRs anymore (our last one broke). I loved this movie when i was a kid :) I used to watch both 1 and 2 all the time :)

  • I have this on VHS, what happened to beginning with them in them in the city? did you skip that part, or is this a cut print?

  • I used to love this film when I was a kid, now 25 years later watching it as an adult I can't get over how irresponsible these silly hippy parents were. Move your kids to live in a shack in the forest to get mauled by wild animals and develop all the social skills of Jodie Foster's Nell! All because the city they lived in had smog! What not do what everyone else does and get a ventolin inhaler and bitch on about global warming to all who will listen!!

  • one of my favorite movies. wilderness family 2 is awesome too

  • Oh how I dearly LOVED these movies!!! I have never seen them out on dvd. That was my dream to live like they did......maybe someday...= ) Thanks so much for posting!!!

  • brilliant.

  • WOOOOOOO!!!! I ended up watching this random movie up at a ski lodge. It was part 2. But we laughed our asses off... The best part of the movie is muting it..., dubbing your own voices!!!

  • Where are the other parts of the movie beyond these parts?I'm still waiting.

  • This is still one of my all-time favorite movies. I always wanted to be a part of the wilderness family! Thanks for posting!

  • I love this movie my Dad took my sister and me to see ... Great momories... ;)

  • one of the best shows i saw growing up!

  • I'm looking for a documentary that ran on PBS about 10 years or so ago about an actual family that was living in the wilderness. They lived primarily on moose meat and the wife made moose pizza and moose enchiladas just to mix things up a bit. They eventually contemplated moving back to the city just so the children could have normal interaction with other kids. Can anyone help me find this footage?

  • @cfx5000 National Geographic - Braving Alaska

  • they actually moved to the wilderness because their daughter had asthma and her breathing was affected by the smog of the city... :) this is a wonderful memory from my childhood. Thank you fpr posting this! :)

  • @jaydynvs Thank you. I thought I would never find that footage again.

  • First time ive seen this show... they think a raccoon is friendly? lol

  • @SkepticsUniverse2 you were a young goat?

  • I remember seeing this at a drive in around 1975-76. I would have been 7 or 8 . Thanks for posting it!!

  • i watched years ago when it first came on tv. i enjoyed this very much

  • I loved this movie as a child. Can't believe I was nine when this came out! Seems a little TOO idyllic but it's still sweet. It sure was nice to think you really could leave it all behind and go rough it out in the wilderness. Don't know many who would try it nowadays though...takes a tough breed of human to live without the modern luxuries we take for granted.

  • I can't seem to add this movie to my playlist More Great Movies without getting the intire movie and I'm way beyound upset that I didn't get the whole thing. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING, I'M SO FREAKING OUTABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @getoutside803 You can find the Sea Gypsies on Amazon video on demand it was $2.99 for a viewing but I watched about a month ago. Enjoy!

  • @getoutside803 you and your family will be happy to watch part 4 and 5

  • One part of the movie that stands out for me is at the end, when it's up to the mom to decide if they stay or leave... the music, and the scenery behind her as she ponders her decision...

This movie might be in some public libraries on VHS or DVD for those that want to see it.

  • I love it too!!! Thank you!.....I'm also looking for "The Sea Gypsies"! -remember that one? :)
