I saw the Raised on Radio tour at the Hampton Coliseum in November 1986. Glass Tiger opened. This was a good concert and everyone saw a Before They Were Stars moment: Randy Jackson on bass guitar. Journey was one of a kind. I know that they are still performing, but it just isn't the same without Steve Perry out front.
Jackson may not have been a "star" then in the sense that you mean, but, he was already well-known as a session player for a decade when Journey came calling.
@MaryLMaxwell I saw Frontiers in April 1983 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC and as I said on a post here, Raised on Radio in November 1986 at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. Both shows sold out.
This is a great tune, but i'm sure JC, and NS, were bitting there tongue's having to perform this live, even Genisis never played Phil Collin songs live.
the only reason steve went solo is because neal had just got finished doing his first solo album in between journey records, so steve decided to cut a solo record. the bit about steve doing mostly journey songs is correct.
@HeftyAXE I think perry only did a few club dates though, cause i remember him stating that he never toured in support of street talk, in fact i remember that he said his first solo tour was in 94, neal didnt get mad about the journey songs, well he mightve, he got mad that the album was very journeyesque, unlike schon's solo album which was nothing like journey.
I wish there was a dvd of this concert, I read somewhere online Neal complained when Steve went solo and he sang Journey's songs in solo concerts. I wouldn't have expected Journey to play 'Oh Sherrie' at one of their concerts because Neal didn't like it when Steve went solo.
@eljay345 That's probably true. But with the success of 'Street Talk,' and the lack of new successful Journey material ('Raised on Radio' was the first Journey record that wasn't completely awesome), the only logical thing for them to do was to perform the Steve Perry stuff as part of their tour in 86. Besides, they weren't really even "Journey" that year; they had one original member and they were just doing it for the cash.
Its SO hard to believe that Journey actually performed this lol... they totally resented his solo album "Street Talk" because it competed with Journey singles on the charts.. idk lol ...just doesn't seem likely that they would go on the road and play it, thats all.. not trying to say your lying or anything.. that is not my objective :-) ..just commenting

This was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia on October 14, 1986 and I was there. I still liked the Frontiers tour better because it was a bigger crowd.
