Somehow this feels like a Shakespeare play, just the way the dialogue is spoken, the odd twists and turns in the speech. I read somewhere that this takes a lot from one of Shakespeare's plays, so maybe that's why.

I don't think this movie is about 2 gay guys. That seems like a shallow way of looking at it. Scott isn't gay as he falls for that Italian girl and it's made apparent to us that it's very physical. It's never really clear that Mike is gay either because we never see him have an option. He didn't seem to enjoy his "dates". However, he definetely had a strong affection for Scott, the first person in his life to ever treat him well, to treat him like more than a piece of meat.

@zoeyjusko Scott is definatly at least bi-sexual. And the movie isn't about gay relationships rather it seems to be about relationships in general. Family, society, friends, lovers. And the Director, Gus Van Sant, is openly gay, but he is known to not make homosexuality a primary focus of his films, yet he incorporates the theme occasionally.

But enjoying sex with someone is very different from falling in love, wanting to be with that person every day. I've always been attracted to some women, and I've ventured a couple of times, but I can't imagine falling in love with a woman in that way. That warm buzz one feels, I've only ever felt with a man. Reverse it and I think that's where Scott stands.

He's in love, he has alot of money now and all is well. Would it have killed him to take his best friend home to the States and get him the proper medical attention? I hate Scott.
