  • Huck is one of the only sane GOP member out there.

  • There is more to the video, and showing only part of it is misleading. I saw Huckabee explain exactly what he was talking about here a couple years ago, and it made perfectly good sense. This is just another smear piece of a good man.

  • Sounds like he is a reasoning type of guy, he's not so much as a republican who has sold his soul for a Party, sounds more like a person for the people. I HATE PARTIES.

  • I see there are disbelievers, Google Fox News, Huckabee, big government.

  • Ron Paul's voting history:

-He has never voted to raise taxes.

-He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

-He has never voted to raise congressional pay.

-He has never taken a government-paid junket.

-He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

-He wants to close foreign military bases and move the troops to the southern boarder.

-He voted against amnesty for illegal immigrants but supported legal immigration.

  • I would have liked to see what the rest of the video said, why they cut it off right there>

  • Huckabee 2012!

  • It's really too bad the internet doesn't hold people responsible for distorting actual fact to suit their own agenda....EVERYONE knows this was "doctored" to distort Gov. Huckabee's record and NO ONE buys this.. Huckabee 2012!!!

  • Great excuse. BTW, what's your excuse to the Fox News clip where they caught Elmer Gantry Huckabee in his lie about why he pleaded for a tax increase?

Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

  • Quoting panzer4u "Strange how this video ends before he gets to what he was obviously eluding to. Just a thought, hope I don't ruffle your panties." Very perceptive! Another futile attempt to discredit Mike Huckabee!

  • I complained Bush's out of control spending, I still do with this bail out. Obama has planned trillions in spending when you include Nationalized Health Care.

His 2 options. 1,.he will increase national debt, blame the increased on Bush's spending. 2 he raises tax greatly 2 pay for these programs. Hows Obama's plan for 2.5 million jobs, paid for with tax $

creats jobs? He said create & save jobs. So saving a job is creating it? The government doesn't create anything

  • Strange how this video ends before he gets to what he was obviously eluding to. Just a thought, hope I don't ruffle your panties.

  • Very perceptive! Anothe futile attempt to discredit Mike Huckabee!

  • Taxes under Huckabee increased two-tenths of a percent over 10 years in Arkansas from 30.3 percent in 1996 when Huckabee took office to 30.5 percent in 2006 when he left.

Romney oversaw a 4 percent increase in taxes from 30.4 percent to 34.4 percent total tax in Massachusetts over 4 years.

  • Hucklebee- The biggest flip-flopping candidate among the republicans!

  • Interesting, I have yet to find any indication that he come close to "flip-flopping" as much as eveyone else. Perhaps you would be so kind as to point me in the direction to where I can find info on this subject.

  • hell never win anyway

  • Huckabee pays lip service to conservatives ideals and the constitution in general. The man has liberal views and is for amnesty and yanking tax dollars out of your pocket to fund agendas. Its soft facism. Look for a candidate that truly wants to limit power over peoples lives. (hint someone that wants a mandated federally enforced smoking ban has no idea what hes talking about)

  • Back it up with sources instead of your opinion.

  • if you believe this video you are a damn idiot, huckabees not fat, that man is a terrible speaker, maybe he souds like him but this man cant talk ya'll are damn fools

  • Dude he lost a bunch of weight recently because he wanted to set a better example for America. true story. haha nice try though.

  • well, huckabee still doesn't talk like that, the voice may be the same note, but different tone. and why would he want to raise taxes if he wants to "put the irs out of business."

  • Huckabee wants to eliminate the IRS.

He wants to replace it with a consumption tax where you will pay on tax on everything you buy.

    How much?

    23%

  • In a hundred and sixty years in Arkansas , we'd never really had a broad-based, wide-spread tax cut. I was able to sign the first ever. The economic policies that we did in my state, cutting taxes, streamlining government, resulted in the largest number of job creations. I cut taxes over 90 times. Balanced the budget every year I was governor. Left a surplus of nearly a billion dollars, and did it in the face of an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. That's a pretty good record." -Huckabee

  • This guy is out of control....a surcharge on the income tax...what the hell is that. NO WAY WILL THIS CFR stoog get my vote!

  • I like Huckabee. Even his economic plan. If he becomes president and the fair tax is passed, that would save Americans thousands of dollars in taxes, eliminate the IRS, untax the poor, and eliminate all taxes (property tax, income tax) except the sales tax. All in the meanwhile bringing more money to the government. I'm all for Huckabee for president, and so are countless who lived under his taxes in Arkansas.

  • Yeah too bad it will never pass. And even if it did it would not get rid of the IRS, that's just a lie that Huckabee likes to say to get votes. Huckabee would be a terrible president

  • Of course the fair tax would eliminate the IRS. The only tax would be the sales tax. So there would be no need for the IRS to come and see that you've paid revenue taxes becausde it would be against the law to charge revenue taxes. They would have no reason to exsist any longer they would go out of business and be forced to find real jobs.

  • Some things government needs money to pay for like it or not but we didn't hear what this money would be used for, we just heard about the goal itself. Doesn't sound like he's begging for taxes but even if he did what matters is what the money was to go to. If the money goal was for a petty cause than shame on Huckabee, but if it was good or necessary cause than shame on whoever posts these anti Huckabee videos for not giving us the whole story.

  • The point of the video is to show that Huckabee is not a conservative. Conservativism cuts taxes to raise revenue. I know that's difficult for liberals like Huckabee to understand. That's what Giuliani did in New York, and what the Bush tax cuts have done.

  • Aahh, yes the man who claims he lowered taxes as governor of Arkansas. So why was his nickname "Tax Hike Mike?" I'm terrified of this man becoming president of the US....and most people would consider me a far right Christian. Please read his record and vote AGAINST him!

  • This is Arkansas politics. A state where the minorities and white trash suck the life out of the average Joe. Mike Huckabee tried to polish a terd...and did.

  • Ron Paul 2008!

  • thats fine... what a loser. Its never fine to tax people loser.

  • Huckafool is the MSM and Special Interests' candidate...PERIOD. He will win unless those who give a f*ck step in!

    Ron Paul 08!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The only honest Presidential Candidate, Ron Paul. Please Google Ron Paul. You'll love him!!!! I'll guarantee it.........

  • how many years ago was this clip?

  • Worst GOP candidate on Immigration

    Worst GOP candidate on taxes

Worst GOp candidate on pardoning criminals

    Best impersonation of Jimmy Carter

  • Say no to tax hike Mike!

  • Go Mike for President...! Vote for Mike, as he will: Release more criminals Release more rapists Help illegal immigrants Isolate people with AIDS Replace the Constitution with the Bible Bomb Iran Infringe on our liberties Raise taxes Increase Government spending VOTE MIKE HUCKABEE!
  • Spoken like a true liberal.

Why don't they play the whole context of this video? Because just like all liberals they take things out of context. Play the whole clip and you will see that he was making a point about the tax and spend libs.

Libs are very unhappy people who wake up every day wondering what purpose they have in life since they have pushed common sense and God out of their life.

  • You make it sound like raising taxes is a bad thing. We need a lot more taxes raise and Mike will do just that. How else are we gonna pay for the wars he wants to wage, the benefits to illegal immigrants, putting criminals and rapist back on the streets? We need money for all that. VOTE HUCKABEE!

  • Wake up. He is a tax-n-spend liberal.

  • LEAVE HUCKABEE ALONE how dare anyone say anything about Mike Huckabee. All you people care about is Freedom, Honesty, Secure border, lower tax and stopping murders and rapiers. You bastard don't care how that makes Huckabee look like, LEAVE HUCKABEE ALONE. If anyone is going to mess with Huckabee they are going to have to deal with ME... LEAVE HUCKABEE ALONE.

  • You would rather stick up for a bullshitting tax raiser than have freedom and enforce the law? BTW what do you meen I'm gonna have to deal with you? What are you going to do now that I just dissed Huckabee?

  • .

umm, i thiink mexicansformike was being sarcastic.

    .

  • Back in the usenet days, it made a "whoooosh" sound.

  • I know he was I was too.

  • Vote Fred thompson.

  • If you want a liar, a hypocrite, a bible thumper, a fatass who had gastric bypass, then vote mike fuckabee 2008!

  • "Nobody's going to find some YouTube moments of me saying something radically different than what I'm saying today." - Mike Huckabee

  • good guy

terrible governor on taxes and crime:

"Huckabee granted 1,033 pardons and commutations in his 10 1/2 years as governor of Arkansas. The acts of clemency benefited the stepson of a staff member, murderers who worked at the governor's mansion, a rock star and inmates who received good words from their pastors." -- AP, 10 Dec 2007

  • No, no, you've got it all wrong. Ron Paul for president!

  • The rape victim, Ashley Stevens and prosecutor Fletcher Long met with Huckabee at the Capitol.

Stevens recalled, she stood up, put her face next to Huckabee's and told the governor: "This is how close I was to DuMond. I'll never forget his face, and you'll never forget mine."

The meeting ended, and Long, a Republican, could tell the governor was unmoved: "Most of what I think about him would be unprintable. His actions were just about as arrogant as you can get."

  • Huckabee had to ask for a tax increase. Jim Guy Tucker & Bill Clinton had our state in a deficit! Huckabee had to get us out. When he left office in 2007, Arkansas had a $1 Billion surplus in the bank. Arkansas is the 49th poorest state in the nation...if he can do that, what can he do for the most powerful nation in the world?

  • Got to love liberal publications posting out of context clips on youtube during a presidential race. Very unprofessional.

  • what a puppet

  • He lied about the 80% ,that was for a totally different bill . Nobody ever voted for that tax increase , please check it out and you'll find out the truth .

  • For the Truth, please watch Aaron Russo's film about the IRS/Federal Reserve "America: Freedom to Fascism"

In 1913 we lost our freedom.

Keep in mind this film had over 3,000,000 views, but every few weeks is brought down to 40,000 like clockwork.

    Strange times, my friends.

  • this video is only 1 minute of a 20-minute presentation- again something used to attack Huckabee taken out of context. The other candidates must be getting desperate. Huckabee cut taxes over 90 times in a very liberal state.

  • if 80% of your state wanted it, wouldn't you support it as their governor? context is everything

  • I'll whine one more time--this video currently has 9 times as many views as the video you'll find if you search for "arkansas special legislative session", which puts everything into context. Oh yeah--from Wikipedia: "Some feel the high levels of incarceration are due to the long sentences mandated under American law, especially for nonviolent crimes like theft and drug possession." MANDATED...sounds familiar.

  • To those whining about how he would have to cut prison funding, so what...?

Are you aware that the U.S. has the largest percentage of our population in prison of ANY NATION ON THE EARTH? And that the majority of them are in prison for non-violent and/or victimless crimes. Don'e believe me? Look it up on Wikipedia for yourself.

Downsizing the prison industrial complex seems like a damn fine idea to me.

  • The only thing that impresses me about Huckabee is that he lost 110pounds. Other than that, nothing new but another power hungry politician, or at least one without the solutions to fix this country.

  • To all those defening Huckabee and claiming it is "out of context", justified, etc...

Can you dig up a clip where Ron Paul requests a tax increase? Even out of context?

Can you even imagine such a situation? No? that's because Ron Paul is a man of conviction and principle.

  • Huckabee rebutted this video on Fox News Sunday. The other 20 minutes of this video have not been released. Huckabee stated on air that his state was dangerously dry on funding to the point that it would stop operating. The largely Democratic legislature was shooting down his proposals and Huckabee compromised with them so that the State wouldn't crumble.

  • Is that the best smear you can come up with - a one-minute clip taken out of context? View the video responses - the full speech - and you can't argue with the truth - Mike Huckabee is the most responsible and competent candidate we have out there.

    GO HUCKABEE!

  • fuck you for posting this out of context

  • Why does taxes always increase.

Why can't we cut or reduce the areas that are wasteful and/or don't belong?

If we keep going up there going to be nothing left of our paychecks.

At some point were going to have to stop growing and come up with some real solutions.

  • You need to watch the response video to SEE THE CONTEXT OF THIS CLIP. This was partially in response to a natural disaster.

  • sure I understand that but I still want to know Why thou,

why can't we at least keep it the same and get rid of some waste?

It's like losing weight, not always easy but something we should do for our Heath.

  • He did. He had cut $380 million worth of waste mostly implemented before his term before the worst tornado disaster in Arkansas history had struck. It set some national records. On top of that, there was the public education mandate that led to ARKids First, taking the Arkansas public school system from one of the worst in the country to one of the best.

  • Okay so he did, but fell short when against record disasters and when can to schools fund them with more money.

I'm not attacking him for ARKids because I don't know much about it, being form out of state. But I have a question for you.

What is his stand on the role of federal government in schools? Does his support Bush's 'No child left behind?'

  • From mikehuckabee(dot)com on the Issues tab (you have to click the "Read more" button on the education link: "We need a clear distinction between federal and state roles in education. While there is value in the "No Child Left Behind" law's effort to set high standards, states must be allowed to develop their own benchmarks."

  • Thank you plaidone for your answer and for be respectful.

I'm still Huge Ron Paul supporter.

At least this news would make it easy to accept Mr. Huckabee as fair VP nominee. :)

  • And I've got nothing against Ron Paul, other than his stance on the war (which I think everyone agrees needs to end soon--funny how you never see a poll that asks that exact question--the difference of opinion simply lies in how to end it) and perhaps some of his more militant supporters. I don't know who Mike will choose as a VP, but if it's Mr. Paul, I think we've got a winning combination. ;-)

  • Please pardon that comment--I meant Dr. Paul, of course.

  • The only way we could continue to function was to find more revenue...somewhere. This conservative governor knew the crisis we were facing and knew what we had to do and was willing to work with the legislature to make it happen

    That's the whole story.

  • This conservative governor saw the crisis that would happen if the legislature did not act. The Supreme Court could and would step in and make sure it happened.

If the Supreme Court stepped in, it could order the budget of Arkansas to divert state funds to Arkansas schools. Everything else would be funded with what was left in the budget. Prisons, DHS, Finance, Emergency Management, etc. would be severely cut.

  • Continued: The special task force responsible to survey the schools and come back with a recommendation to help meet the Supreme Court mandate had just issued a 2.4 BILLION dollar price tag.

The Arkansas Constitution, amended in 1968, says that the first responsibility of Arkansas government was to fund the schools. EVERYTHING else was to be funded after the schools.

  • This is very small clip from a 45 minute State of the State speech given at the beginning of Legislative Session in January of 2003. The state had just been hit with the Arkansas Supreme Court decision that the funding for schools was not equitable. This suit had been going on for more than ten years and the state was facing a Supreme Court edict to properly fund schools and make facilities equitable throughout the state.

  • Huckliani. They make a great team a social liberal and a fiscal liberal. Huck's had a chance to show his leadership to grow Arkansas by attracting jobs, by making the corner store thrive. Instead, he stifled mom and pop with taxes and spending.

  • Gah! Here is the context! Look up "mike huckabee legislative" and the WHOLE speech should come up. It was posted not long ago by someone who knew the truth. Hurray for YouTube!

  • Born Red, a resident of Ak, says, "I have several kids in my mostly working class family who would never get medical care if not for ARKids first. They certainly couldn't afford private schools, so when I see them bashing Huckabee for being a "tax and spend" liberal for his support and promotion of these things, it makes me shudder. How far removed from the reality most of us occupy do you have to be to condemn these things?"

  • Ron Paul has never voted for a tax increase

Hmmm.. I wonder who is more fiscally conservative? Ron Paul or tax hike Mike?

Please I beg of you, if you have not heard of Ron Paul, please search for him on youtube.

  • JoshOman was correct in his post. This was at a time when the Fed mandated that Edu spending be increased by 100m. The video has no context and, unless I am quite mistaken, many cults r begun by taking things out of contxt. FYI Huckabee DID cut spending 1st. 20m I believe.

  • According to the entire video, it was $380 million that had been cut prior.

  • The video is clear. He didn't care who, what, when, where or how taxes were increased in that segment. He just wanted an increase.

Now, if there is a segment of the same speech where he was equally willing to cut spending in a number of areas then he'd be credible.

    Video anyone...Bueller...Bueller?

  • there are always two side.... raise taxes.. or lower spending.... they choose not to lower spending. IF they have do increase spending in one area they could decrease it in others.

Huckabee like more GOPers... likes to spend money. Ask Bush and the GOP from 2000 -2006 how their spending was.

  • Watch the video response. He DID lower spending, to a level that would mean cutting prison or federally mandated Medicaid funding, if they were to meet the mandate for education funding.

  • Huckabee is NOT a Clinton. This clip is taken from a speech in which he was addressing a tax increase for education funding in the state of Arkansas. (I think we all can agree that AR needs for funds for eduction.)

  • OH NO!!! MY PRECIOUS MONEYZZ!!!!

  • Huckabee is a tax raiser Democrat in Republican clothing. He is just like those use to be broke ass Clintons. Never trust or vote for anybody from Arkansas, because in Arkansas, all parties are as one with one goal, greed.

  • Don't buy into the scam, Clifford. This video is of when the supreme court handed down a mandate to increase education spending by 90-100 million dollars... There was no way to meet that except by raising taxes or by cutting funding for nursing homes, releasing prison inmates prematurely, or cutting off critical government services.

  • So funny hearing you libertopians lecture about greed. Seriously do you think the taxes go directly to the pockets of the senators or something? Or that they are themselves exempt from tax? Give me a break idiot.

  • He's now, one lean mean taxing machine.... :)

  • Check out Americans for better Immagration web site. Hucks a joke...

  • Fat guy in a little coat...

  • daaaaaaamn, he lost some weight.

  • How about we get rid of the unconstitutional personal income tax altogether??

Vote Ron Paul and WIN a FREE country !!

  • Huckabee has never met a tax he didn't like... :)

  • Yeah, that really crippled Abraham Lincoln. It's about Leadership (the ability to inspire by word and action)--not "Executive Experience." This sounds like a Romney comment. Do you remember how much scandal there was surrounding the 2002 Winter Olympics he is so proud to have run?

  • Yeah, Lincoln sure did great. Killed 400,000 people, suspended habeus corpus, seized telegraph lines, sent troops to Baltimore for no reason. Yeah, what a saint. Ron Paul has no leadership either, he just says no to everything. Way to reach across the aisle and compromise, Ron.

Anyway, this video is clearly taken waaaaaaaaay out of context. Most likely, this was when he needed funds to fulfill a Supreme Court order to improve education. Idiots.

  • If you are Pro-life you cant be Pro-war, If you believe in JESUS you shouldn't think Socialism is wrong. That is why this man and most Republicans are a fucking JOKE!

  • Actually, I don't think Jesus would have provided to just anyone. This is the fundamental problem with socialism. I'm sure the WWJD crowd will tell me if I'm wrong, but from what I can tell, Jesus would be on the side of "if you want something badly enough, you have to be willing to work for it. You won't have it handed to you."

  • Sure there are exceptions. That's why we have social programs from what we've learned were positive aspects of socialism. Also, I think the opposite of Pro-life is Pro-death. No decent human is Pro-war. It's just an evil we wish we didn't have to live with.

  • Well, what he was doing WAS taxing and spending. Most people aren't condemning his taxing and spending here, but that he's repeatedly lied about his tax record. Should we elect someone for president who'll say anything to get elected? Also, most people can't afford private schools.

  • No big suprises there. Check out his real immagration votes as well at "Americans for better immagration" web site....check out his votes and quotes there that he seems clearly trying to cover up. No thanks Huck.

  • Moron...its spelled "Immigration" not "immagration".

Maybe if you bought a dictionary instead of living life by sounding words out, you'd make a more intelligent point next time...ROFL

  • another BIG LOSER

  • Let's make a bet on whether Rudy will wear a dress at the next debate?

  • Yeah the people of Arkansas voted for Clinton, he must have been the right one. Don't think you know better than those folks in Arkansas!!!

  • Wait a second. That was the FAT Huckabee. The THIN Huckabee is for tax cuts.

  • He keeps raising taxes," Norquist said, then alluded to Huckabee's authorship of a book on his personal weight loss. "He has raised taxes more than once. The one thing Huckabee is known for is that he's lost lots of weight. I would prefer a fat guy with a skinny budget."

  • Like mike huckabee?

    lol..

  • rofl. our system is so stupid. we have some of the biggest imbeciles wanting to lead public service. fat or thin, huck is a big dumb career politican.

  • Huckabee is a liar!!!

  • He also lied and claimed he didn't have gastric bypass surgery, among other things.

  • Keep your money -- RON PAUL 2008!!

  • YEAH! Lets keep the fruits of our labor!!! RON PAUL IS THE ONE WE SHOULD ALL BE VOTING FOR! AND IF YOU AREN'T, YOUR FOR PEOPLE LIKE HUCKABEE OR POLITICIANS THAT CAN'T BE TRUSTED!

  • The Arkansas Supreme Court Mandated (that means ya got no choice) That Arkansas dump $90-100 Million into EDUCATION.

So what you have provided is an example of how flexible governor Huckabee was being with his peers in the state government in terms of finding ways to meet this REQUIREMENT.

Taxing something that kills people (tobacco) is always a popular option...I guess he could have asked for a bake sale though...

  • Amazing how simple it is to validate an opinion by taking things out of context. This vid is clearly intended for that purpose. arkjournal is disingenuous. Do your own research and thinking, folks. Don't be duped. Even conservatives can be dishonest! lol

  • no he could have asked them to CUT SPENDING! You defense is lame! When a corporation has short-falls, they cut spending not raise prices! Trying to defend this guy make you look stupid!

  • Yeah, by having layoffs. Let's see, what's the equivalent of that in a governor's seat? Yank Social Security? Oh right, that's federal. How about Disability? Or how about just kicking all the citizens out who can't work? Oh yeah, those pesky nursing homes. Those would be effective, yet ultimately stupid and cruel, ways of cutting spending. The pork had already been trimmed by $380 million.

  • There was nothing in the Lakeview decision which mandated the type of spending increases (and school consolidation) Huckabee pushed through.

  • Your defense is lame. Any way you slice it, he was begging to raise taxes.

Mike Huckabee is a liar and not fit to be President.

  • Ron Paul for President

  • Ron Paul.

  • He's running as a republican right?! Raise taxes???? He is completely insane. That does it for me, I'm voting Ron Paul.

  • LOL what a fat-ass!

  • Yes, Yes! RAISE those taxes, Mike! You keep talking taxes, and I'll keep talking Ron Paul. :-)

  • huckabee big tax
