@IceTTom not too big on reading today? I am in a wheelchair SO I need to have a 3 wheeled death machine, they are BUTT SLOW, I did 119.81mph on the salt flats this year. I have a zx12 that i have hit 195mph true speed on in the garage but with NO working legs its a little too dicey for a daily driver.
a 13s 1/4 time is quicker than most cars on the street so its fast enough. For more power your free to cram a larger engine or if you have the patience plumb a turbo and tune. If your cheap run laughing gas+tune. I can see this selling to the right market. I'd feel safer my dad ride this than his vulcan, and it would reduce the crashes of people(kids) who only use the rear brake or target fixate. I'd like to know how maintenance is on these, 17k is't as bad as harley's cheapest ($30k) trike.
@trailerrailer I seen your mom rounding up shopping carts with one of these at Wal-Mart. Oh and if you ride one of these and you pass that group of guys on HD's that give you the 2 fingers down, look closer, the index finger is back...

I see a lot of bikes launch and fall on their faces cause the guys expect wheel spin, instead it digs in and dogs the engine down. @505197 its ok man im just informing you. i work at a dragstrip that is literaly 2 mi. from my house, its not the rosin on the track that is oily, it the crap you pick up on the street, when you heat the tire up it pulls all that stuff to the surface of the tire.

I'm curious about the time differences: 13 and 1/2 as opposed to 14 1/2 seconds. The slower one seems like it has bags and a taller windscreen but it's an RS just like the other one, right? (It's not an RT correct?) Why is the faster one a full second faster---performance mods?
I'm an old biker but with my bad back and needing a little luggage to carry around computer parts at work I think the RT Spyder would be a perfect commuter/fun bike.
@paulauman I had a better airbox setup and a efi mod, the luggage and windscreen also did slow doc down. His is also a regular clutch SM-5 and my is the pushbutton SE-5.
The RT's are slow but have everything you need for touring. both of these are RSS's.
Looks like fun! Also, much LOLing at the morons that want to compare it to a bike. The only things it has in common with bikes are the power source and handlebars. It's more closely kin to the Morgan racecars than anything else, which is why it's called a ROADSTER and not a BIKE. Most of these D-bags ragging on Spyders aren't legit enthusiast, or they'd "get it". As much as I like motorcycles and my bikes, I've also been an ATV rider all my life with 1000s of hours off road and like that it would let me take the ATV experience on road legally. Personally I feel a properly engineered street quad could kill motorcycles in every measurable performance parameter besides 100-200mph, but we'll just have to wait and see since federal law prohibits such a machine.

@nprezzato fast is a relitive term, they are quick but not fast, 0-60 in about 3.5ish but only 120 mph without the wheelchair on the back. my zx12rr I have went true speed 195 mph on it so it depends on what you think is fast.
@nprezzato well we all make choices after my wreck on a bike that put me in the chair, you get sit around or do something that gets you as close as you can to being a human again, this isn't fast enough but its getting there. I could sit around, smoke, and collect unemployment but that is not for me.

@nprezzato yep. my accident was under 50mph and if I would have the run off I would have been fine. EVERYONE DIES not everyone lives. If you don't want to get back on a bike and find out if that was the real issue or if you are just scared. No matter want you ride, its an engine with some tires on it, always a risk. What real risk is there in a wheelchair?

Nice video. I'd been looking into the spyder and really considered it. The salesperson told me that they had traction control. How'd you get to spin the wheels? Anyways, sorry to hear about your accident, and to the guy with the 500 ninja, I have a Busa with 225 to the wheel and I still intend on getting a spyder. Its not how fast you go, its how much fun you can have while going fast.
@beheredia as long as you have the spyder staight you can burn the rear tire, its an audi brake/traction control system along with a anti roll system. You have to setup to exit corners differently and cornering is like doing open heart surgery with a chainsaw, you have to make it go and it wants to throw you off. my other riding videos will show ya want I mean.

the guy I raced against kept them on to get weight over the rear tire.Spyders aren't like cars or bikes so getting traction to the rear tire, and taking them off is a mother fucker, they are dumb.

@extreeeeeemist The funny think is I have a 85 kawasaki en450 out back and you can swap out the parts to a modern ninja. even the 2010 kawasaki 500s have the same parts as that 25 year old bike!

the guy I raced against kept them on to get weight over the rear tire.Spyders aren't like cars or bikes so getting traction to the rear tire, and taking them off is a mother fucker, they are dumb.

Seth - Thought that looked like Doc's Spyder you were running against. Those are nice times you are posting for a Spyder. Should be interesting to see what the turbo does to improve times once it is on the market.

they should call them and tell them all about it, if you have something else faster that will work I'm all ears, try riding a motorcycle in a wheelchair pal. The thing needs 40 more hp,I have a drag tire and rim coming so i can get more hookup
