  • Rod Steiger was brilliant in this film - watch him here and then " In the Heat of the Night" - what an actor. This film is just a hoot !!!!!

  • If anyone has trouble buffering in any video, I'd say the technology is still primitive.

  • 1965 might have been Rod Steiger's best year. Look it up. Two years before he actually won an Oscar.

  • I never knew that Rod Steiger worked for John Waters!

  • OMG! I just ordered a DVD from Amazon.com... I can't wait to experience the entire film! LOL

  • An all time classic, saw this film over 30 years ago & it still holds its attraction for me, great actors & sense of humour, Steiger a brilliant character, MOM just steals the show; what a Woman, so funny.

  • This is so disgusting…but in a hilarious way. I've always hated roasted suckling pig, by the way. These look creepy to me. Rod Steiger is in one of his wackiest disguises ever…blonde perm, effeminate (and much too small) kitchen apron…or working out naked except for a tanga slip…

  • time for king chicken

  • watching DVD right now

  • A great film as well as a great book.Rod,the cast and film should got Oscars for this.

  • TRULY an Oscar performance! The Mrs. did love her food!

  • have you seen the cranberry sauce?

  • Omgsh, this is the funniest thing ever! :]

  • SO AHEAD OF ITS TIME...This. Film. Is. Legendary!

  • Who doesn't love Mrs. Joyboy, with her HUGE appetite for life! She's even sort of sexy in a gargatuan sort of way. Love who she REALLY REALLY enjoys her food. And where can I buy some "King Chicken" and 'Big Boy Crap"? Watching this certainly cllip makes me hungry....excuse me while I go feed my face....

  • This black humor classic deserves to be moved from cult favorite to the top all-time classics level.

  • you left out the best scene where joyboy tells amy of his dream of cooking lobsters for mom

    steiger at his best priceless

  • This will be on TCM on March 8th.

  • the first scene in the funeral parlour/mansion where the blond uk guy goes to have his uncle's -gielgud- funeral arranged, is pure gothic humour. MORE!

  • My father took us to see this at an "underground" theater in 1972, and I haven't been the same since!

  • Edith Massey move over!!

  • I love Rod Steiger, Tony Richardson and "The Loved One"...Thank you very much!

  • Once seen---Mrs. Joyboy can never forgotten! Take a look at Billy Pilgrim's mother in "Slaughterhouse Five" for another Oscar-worthy performance by Lucille Benson.

  • Not quite sure what you mean by Lucille Benson -- she is not in The Loved One. Mrs Joyboy here is Ayllene Gibbons.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for posting this!!!! I've been wanting to see this again for years. One of the funniest scenes in any movie. Deeply disturbing too.

  • great movie. would love to see more clips shown on YouTube as I haven't seen it in a while.

  • This movie is in my top 5!!!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • thank you so much for posting this!!

  • So prophetic, considering how many obscenely obese gut buckets there are around these days !

  • What a strange scene this is.
