If this somehow comes up, wait for 1 or 2 month with black spot on the screen. Apple made a flop show on 27 inch imac. If this is new, get your money back ASAP.
The iMacs ATI video card is literally cooking inside a poorly ventilated case and screen flicker is the result. ATI video cards notoriously run hot even in a well ventilated case. To say ATI's need extra ventilation is an understatement.
It's not just the ATI's that have the Problem. The NVidia has some problems. It's the Screen & the Screen cable going to the Video Card. I know because I have the same issue with my 21.5 NVidia iMac.
The cable thing is an easy fix but to cram all that heat generating electronics into an unventilated monitor case is just crazy and uh dare I say stupid.
Yea but it's not just the cable it's defective Screens from LG I presume. But I have to agree with your point. There's a lot of stuff crammed in there. But not EVERY iMac has these problems. I know someone with a 24" that the screen is flawless & never flickers.
I mean I look at the back of iMacs and cant see a single place for air to enter or exit. Is it waterproof or what? LOL
Oh, so they use different screen makers? I bet you the iMacs that do flicker all use the exact same screen maker and only those screens can't handle the lack of ventilation maybe? Fascinating Captain. LOL
And yet you "#$"#% keep buying apple crap

The new iMac (Late 2009) has an Air Vent on Top in back & on Bottom in back, near the Power Cord. So it's better but not perfect.

Apple seriously need to get some QC; and I'm an avid Apple fan but this is just unacceptable, very embarrassing for such a large corporation.
